Living for ourselves.

Hello once again. I go by the name of Brad H., and I thank you for taking the time to read my post. Hope all is well with anyone who takes out the time to read this. Tonight I want to write about something that has been on my mind the last week or so. Well first I want to ask as question. How many of us are really living for ourselves? What do I mean when I say living for ourselves? Are you, or have you been in a situation where you felt pressured by someone else to do something you really didn't want? Maybe it was a family member, a spouse, or someone you consider a friend. I'm willing to be that almost all of us have been in this situation at one point or another.

I know that we sometimes have to do things we don't like. That is just life in general. However, it's important to remember that we must live for ourselves. We only get one opportunity, and one shot at this thing called life. We must make OURSELVES as happy as we possibly can. When it's over, it's over with. Some of my family members probably wonder why I am so defiant about certain things they ask of me. It's because I want to do things on my own terms. Not because I'm conforming to what someone else wants. There's a song by a hip hop artist named Buff1 called "Once". One of the lines in the song goes; "They call it your life, cause it's yours to live". That right there sums it all up. I challenge anyone who reads this who feels like they are living for others and not themselves, to take the challenge and rise up and do YOU! I struggle with this sometimes myself. I'm challenging myself as well to do this. My posts are not just about talking to other people, but myself as well. Lets focus on being better people, and living OUR lives to the fullest. Well I'm going to sign off for now. I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope someone can relate to what I'm saying.

I'll be back soon with more topics to discuss. Again I hope all is well with everyone. Peace, love, and blessings to all.

R.i.p. Troy Davis

R.i.p. Troy Davis

What's up everyone? It's Brad H. once again. Just thought I would share another article that I wrote on Triond regarding the execution of Troy Davis. I wrote this a day after the execution took place. Please feel free to click the link and read it. I am still upset about how this case turned out, but there isn't anything that I can do about it. My thoughts and prayers are still with Troy Davis's family and supporters. Well just wanted to share that. Hope everyone has a great night, and I'll be back soon. Take care everyone Peace.

Rest In Peace to Troy Davis.

Hello once again. Tonight I'm kinda upset and frustrated. As many of you may know, Troy Davis has been executed in the state of Georgia. Davis was convicted for the 1989 killing of off duty policeman Mark Macphail. Davis was convicted and sentenced to death in 1991. All this time Davis has claimed that he was innocent. I personally wasn't too interested in this story until recently. A Facebook friend of mine posted a petition related to the upcoming execution on his wall. I went through and read the petition, and came to the conclusion that Mr. Davis most likely was innocent. I also started reading and seeing in the news that 7 out of 9 witnesses changed their statements regarding the conviction. I was watching the news earlier, and a young lady was on CNN stating that someone else confessed to the killing.

The way I see it, the only way a person is truly guilty is if there is beyond reasonable doubt that they are guilty. In my opinion with all the new information that came up regarding this case, it should have been looked into more. From what I understand Troy Davis was willing to take a polygraph test, and they wouldn't let him. The United States Supreme court denied Davis's final plea earlier tonight, and the execution was carried out around. Davis was pronounced dead at 11:08 P.M. Of course I didn't know Troy Davis personally, but I'm not for anyone who may be innocent spending the rest of their life in prison, or facing the death penalty. Today just proved again that the justice system in the United States is flawed. I saw CNN analyst Roland Martin mention that people shouldn't complain about having to serve on jury duty. I will admit that I'm not a fan of jury duty, but from here on I will not complain about serving in the future.

I want to say that my prayers and thoughts are with Troy Davis and his family. May his soul rest in peace. Also today Russell Brewer was executed here in Texas for the 1998 killing of James Byrd Jr. Some of you may know, but I'm from the city where all of this occurred in 1998. My thoughts and prayers are with the Byrd family as well. Well I'm ending this post for tonight. Everyone stay up, maintain, and keep fighting the good fight. Peace.

Why don't people listen?

Hello once again. It's me Brad H coming back at you again. Hope all is well with everyone. Quite a few exciting things have happened since the last time I posted. First, we had the start of the NFL season, which is always an exciting time for sport fans. We also had the highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz, that occurred on September 17th. Being a sports fan in general, I must say that I'm pretty hyped for the football season. I'm also doing fantasy football this year. It hasn't started out too well for me so far though. I hope to be able to keep you all posted in the future though.

Tonight I want to ask something that has been on my mind recently. Why is it that people don't listen, and take us seriously at times? Do you ever find yourself becoming frustrated when you are speaking about something passionate to you, only to find out that others don't take you seriously. It's almost like they look at you as a joke, or like someone who doesn't know anything. I'm sure most of you who reads this has encountered people like this at sometime in your life. Now I don't claim to know everything by any means. However, I tend to think that when I speak about certain things or topics I know what I'm talking about. For one, I do my research on things that are passionate to me. I try to be well informed on things that I speak about with others. I give others respect when it comes to their thoughts and opinions, even though I don't receive that respect back at times. Basically I try to do unto others as I would like done to me. However, some people still tend to block out and ignore things on my mind.

I was told earlier today by a close family member that they couldn't take me seriously when it came to a certain topic we were discussing. It kinda upset me, but I kept my cool. That's one thing that I enjoy about this blogging thing. I'm able to get things off my mind regardless as to whether people choose to read or not. I don't intend to sound arrogant when I say this, but I'm pretty sure some of these people who don't listen to me or take me seriously, they will someday. It makes me think about something my grandmother has told me several times before. She says the Bible says; "take your enemy and make them your footstool". A lot of people treat mistreat and disrespect others, but these are the same people you may end up needing someday. I haven't seen it fail yet. That's definitely something to think about. Well that's my post for tonight. Hope anyone who reads enjoys, and feel free to leave thoughts or feedback. Well take care everyone, and I'll be back soon. I'm out!

All kinds of family.

Yo, yo, yo! It's me Brad H. once again. Hope everyone is doing well. This time I'm writing about something that has been on my mind recently. For anyone who reads or follows me often, you probably recall a post last year I wrote about how your family can sometimes be your biggest enemies. The key board in that statement is the word "sometimes". I don't feel that our relatives are always our biggest enemies, but I do feel that in some cases they are. Some even hold us back from reaching our full potential. Some of us fail to realize that there are all kinds of family around us. What do I mean when I say all kinds of family? A person doesn't have to be a blood relative in order to be classified as family. Think about it, people adopt and take in kids all the time and raise them as their own. You may a childhood friend who is like a brother or sister to you. Another example can be a mentor who you look up to as a father or mother figure. People so many times associate the word "family" with blood relatives. Now me personally, I have friends that are like family to me. I find that these friends are easier for me to talk to than some of my own blood family members. There are all kinds of family in this world. We just have to find people who understand us, and accept us for who we really are. That is the true definition of a family member. Don't always let your blood relatives hold you back, and give you the impression that you should stick by them even when they are using you. Well that's it for this time. Hope anyone who reads this enjoys, and feel free to leave thoughts or feedback. Till next time peace, love, and respect to all.

Is The United States of America Becoming a Food Stamp Nation?

Is The United States of America Becoming a Food Stamp Nation?

What's up everyone? It's Brad H. once again. Hope everyone is doing well. Tonight I'm sharing with you another article I recently wrote for Triond. It's titled "Is the United States of America becoming a food stamp nation?" I wrote this after watching a video on Youtube where a guy that I subscribe to asked this question. I felt like it was a good topic to write about, especially with all the Americans who are now receiving food stamp benefits. Anyway I'm going to end this post. Please read the article, and tell me what you think. I hope you all enjoy. Until next time, take care.
