Everything You May Want In This World Isn't For You (Knowing Exactly What You Want).

We all have things that we want out of this life that we're living right? Whether it's to have the perfect partner or spouse, the white picket fence or a lot of money, we all have things that we want to accomplish while we're here. Some people know exactly what they want out of life, while there are others that somewhat straddle the fence when it comes to wanting things. You know how some people believe that there is something they want, but later realize that what they thought they wanted was really not what they wanted? Hopefully that makes some sense, but in short, we as humans are often indecisive about certain things in life. One day we may feel a certain way about something, and then the next we feel the opposite. One of the things that I've often talked about on here is how so many of us compare our lives to everyone else. Often times, not always, many people use the lives of others as a basis for what they believe they want in life. So we often look at what others have and in turn, we think the things they have will bring us the same kind of happiness that they seem to be experiencing. While that may be the truth in certain cases and scenarios, I generally believe that interpreting what you want in this world through the eyes of others isn't a good thing. As I stated, we all want things out of life, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, something to also keep in mind is that everything that you may think you want in this world may not be for you.

Hello once again to everyone out there. It is me Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that everyone has been doing well and staying up since the last time we met up on here. If that hasn't been the case for any of you, just continue to keep on holding your head up and believe that things can and will get better. That is something that I have to tell myself often as well. So there are quite a few happenings that have been taking place in the world as of late. I talked a lot about Hurricane Harvey and the effect that it had on Texas in the last topic. Since then, we saw another devastating hurricane named Irma hit the state of Florida. Not only Florida, Irma totally destroyed many parts of the islands south of the U.S. mainland. In my personal opinion, this has been one of the craziest hurricane seasons that I've ever seen. The thing that is even more worrisome is that hurricane season is nowhere close to being over with, and there are storms still forming in the Atlantic right now. I guess I just want to use my soapbox this week to piggyback off of last week's topic of being resilient. There isn't anything that any of us can do to prevent these storms from forming, but what we can do is prepare for them as best we can. The biggest thing I would suggest is to try and stay informed on what is happening in the ocean in regards to when storms are beginning to form. The days of relying on the news to tell us exactly what is going on and when to prepare are pretty much nonexistent now, so we have to always be aware of what is going on. My thoughts go out to everyone that was affected by Irma, as well as those still feeling the after effect of Hurricane Harvey. Stay resilient everyone. Alright, now it is time to get into this week's topic of how everything you may want in this world isn't for you.

Now that I've gotten on the weekly soapbox, it's time for the normal disclaimer that I give before going into the topic for the week. We all have different views and opinions when it comes to life. The primary mission here is not to focus or give credence to what is right or wrong, but rather to give inspiration to others that will hopefully encourage people to view a topic in a manner which they may not have thought of before. I'm just one person with an opinion, so I don't expect everyone to see things the same way that I do. Any feedback or thoughts that anyone has is always welcome here. As I've stated plenty of times before, I see this as platform where we're all here to learn from one another. So as to how this topic came to be, I would just attribute it to another one of the many things that I think about on a regular basis. I think that there are so many of us out there that often focus primarily on the pros when it comes to the things we want in life. Since we put so much emphasis on the potential good that comes from things, I think we don't always see that there is also bad that can potentially come from the things we desire. Because I have the belief that everything has pros and cons, I think that everything that we may want or think we want may be good for isn't always. Again, this isn't to discourage anyone from pursuing anything that they're interested in, just something to hopefully give some thought to.

So as we have already established, we all have things that we want and desire in life. Another thing that we should all be aware by now is that life isn't always fair. This is something that can be hard for some to accept, especially when we're younger and don't fully have a grasp on how life works. So with knowing that life isn't fair, the idea or belief that everything we want should be ours isn't always true. However, there are some of us that still hopelessly chase after the things we believe that we want, and some of us continue to do this even when the very things we want continue to elude us. A prime example that most of us, especially guys can relate to deals with women. I'd say that at least 99.9% of us men have had a woman that we really liked, but she continued to not be within our grasp. She may have told you straight up that she wasn't interested, or she may have even played hard to get, but we still felt like there was something we could do to get her to admire her in the same manner that we do her. Some people say that persistence pays off, and I do believe that is true in the majority of cases. However, excessive persistence without ever seeing the results that you desire should be a sign that maybe what you believe that you want isn't for you. So in the example of chasing after a girl, the fact that she didn't share the same sentiments as you probably means that she isn't the one for you. This same ideology goes for anything else in life as well. Everything that you believe is for you isn't.

Now there are several ways I believe of handling being able to accept that some things in life aren't for you. The biggest thing that I want to bring up deals with changing your mindset. Those of you that often read my posts already know that I talk about the mind and how it is important to focus on adapting it to adjust to life changes. I believe that the main reason that many of us struggle with believing that everything that we want is for us comes from the fact that many of us don't know exactly what we want. This is exactly why I've said the words "think we may want" several times throughout this post. The fact is that many of us don't know exactly what we want, which means that we're often chasing after a lot of the wrong things. When you're chasing after the wrong things, you're likely never going to get back the results your hoping for. As I've alluded to, we all have had disappointments and setbacks when it came to something that we wanted. It is normal and okay to feel disappointed when something doesn't go our way, but instead of focusing on the cons that came with that disappointment, focus on the pros that came with it. Again, I believe there are pros and cons to everything, and that applies as well it comes to disappointments and heartache. It is difficult to see that when you're in the midst of that setback, but it something that comes to light in due time.

Besides just informing others that everything that you want in this world isn't for you, I want us as people, including myself to change our mindsets and figure out exactly what you want in this world. No one is perfect, and I do believe that the journey to finding out exactly who you are and what you want is a constant one. However, if you find yourself and learn exactly what you want in this life, you'll do a better job at preventing yourself from experiencing disappointments. Because you know who you are and exactly what you want, you'll know exactly the things and people to go after in your life. Again, I want to reiterate that this doesn't guarantee that you'll never experience disappointment. Life is always unpredictable and changing, so nothing is guaranteed. However, I do believe that we can do much better at avoiding disappointments when you find ourselves and know exactly what we want. The quote that I came across that I think goes well with this topic comes from the telephone man, Alexander Graham Bell. I think it's a pretty good one and goes; "What this power is, I cannot say. All I know is that it exists...and it becomes available only when you are in that state of mind in which you know exactly what you want...and are fully determined not to quit until you get it."

Well we have once again arrived at the end of another topic. Thank you all to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H's Perspective'! As I always say before signing off, I hope that there was some meaning and understanding that could be gained from this topic. Hopefully some of you can relate, and it gives you a bit of inspiration. The weekend is here, so hope everyone does something fun. Also, I know I haven't mentioned anything NFL related, but the hurricanes have kinda overshadowed that. Life is all about priorities, so the safety and recovery of our fellow man are far more important than sports. But for those of you that are football fans, I hope you enjoy the second week of the NFL this weekend. I know that I most certainly will. Alright, I'm out for this week, so I'll see you all in the next one. Till then, I wish you all the best. Peace!

Maintaining Discipline Requires Sacrifice, But It's Worth It.

Most of us know by now that there are always pros and cons that come along with the decisions that we make. With nearly every choice that we make in our live regardless of how much it may benefit us, there will always be some kind of sacrifice that comes along with it. If you look at or study anyone that has achieved a significant amount of success at something they're good at, most of them mention the amount of sacrifice that was required on their part to reach their peak. I believe that this also applies when it comes to maintaining discipline in our lives as well. We all hear or have heard about the importance of being disciplined in life, but how many of us really know what discipline is? By definition, discipline is defined as being able to "train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way." There are other definitions and meanings as well, however for the sake of the point that I will be discussing this week, I'm going to stick to the aforementioned definition since I think it aligns more with this week's topic. The ability for one to trains themselves to have discipline is certain aspects of life can be constant challenge, and it's a journey that isn't for the faint of heart. There is an often extreme level of sacrifice and time required to maintain discipline, but the work and effort put towards it will be worth it in the end.

Hey, what's good my folks out there? It is I Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! A big thanks goes to everyone that stopped by to tune in once again to what I have to say for another week. Hope everyone has been staying strong, maintaining, and keep things positive in your world since the last post. In the previous post before this one, I had mentioned that I had an upcoming birthday. It's been nearly a week since it past, and I must say that I had a great birthday this year. I mentioned earlier that I'm not one to get super enthusiastic about my birthday, but I must admit that my family truly went out of their way to make the day special for me. I'm truly grateful for them, as well as being able to live and see another year on this Earth. In a time where so many are dying young, it is a blessing to us all being able to inhale and exhale daily. Another thing I briefly talked about was the 5K that took place earlier this month back on the 4th. This is the annual Kinsel Ford 5K that I've been doing since 2012. I always try to participate in this yearly race since it always falls near my birthday. This year's event was another success. I moved into another age group since first running in it, and I finished 10th in the men for my group this year. That was a pleasant surprise since I really didn't push it too hard this year. The most important thing was to have fun. Well I've talked enough for me for now, so it's time to delve more into this week's topic of maintaining discipline.

As I normally do with any of the topics that I talk about on here, I want to point out that a person's individual viewpoints will always differ from person to person. The idea with this topic and the rest isn't to focus too much on what is right or wrong, but rather to encourage others to view certain topics in a light they may not have considered before. I'm not saying that my viewpoint is right, nor am I implying that the way I see things is the correct way of looking at life. I'm just an everyday average guy hoping to inspire myself and others. If anyone has any comments or feedback on this or any other topic that I've talked about, please feel free to leave them in the comment box. Now for some insight on how this week's topic came to be. Normally I can point to a life experience or someone that I'm close to as to how I came to talk about a specific topic. That happens to not be the case this week. This week's topic on maintaining discipline is just something that came to my mind out of the blue, and I figured that it would be something that could maybe inspire those that struggle with maintaining discipline. As I've stated before in past posts, my eyes and ears are closest to me so anything that I write about here applies to myself as well. The art of maintaining discipline can be a tough habit to maintain, but doing it consistently can definitely help in improving our lives for the better.

So now that we've established what entails having discipline, I think it is necessary to talk about why having discipline in our lives is so important. From my perspective, the task of practicing discipline daily helps greatly in strengthening our minds and organizing our lives. An individual that disciplines him or herself consistently practices routines that increases their potential to improve their life daily. Like I mentioned earlier, most people that are skilled at something often have developed and maintained a level of discipline that has helped make them successful in whatever their particular craft may be. There is a saying that goes "repetition is the mother of skill." I believe that saying totally coincides with being a disciplined individual. Think about boxers that have had success in the sport of boxing. I'm sure that none of those guys woke up instantly skilled at their craft. Like every other athlete or person that has achieved greatness, it took daily trips to the gym and working with their trainers in order to become skilled at boxing. In order to get to that point, strict discipline is required. But as I stated earlier, with every pro that comes in life, there will always be a con that comes along with it. Being a disciplined individual is truly great, but it does come with a lot of sacrifice.

Now making sacrifices may not be hard for some people. However, I think that most of us struggle with sometimes having to give up certain things in order to become better at something. For example, lets say that you're a person that is trying to lose weight and become healthier, but you also loves eating sweets. You already know that in order to become a more healthier person, you're going to have to either give up on or cut back on eating sweets. This is a prime example of being willing to sacrifice in order to get to a better place. This is exactly where the being worth it aspect comes into play. There can often be a great deal of discomfort and even pain sometimes when it comes to making sacrifices, however, any sacrifice that a person is willing to make that makes their life better is worth it. From my perspective, most of us look at the sum of all the parts rather than the individual parts that lead to something greater. Many of us focus too much on what we're losing when we make sacrifices rather than what could be gained from them. It's kinda like the glass half full of empty mentality; we direct too much energy towards the things we don't have instead of appreciating the things we do. In some ways, discipline and sacrifice go hand in had with this.

Now I'm sure that many of you that may be reading this have no problem with maintaining discipline in your lives. If that's the case for you, then I truly applaud and commend you for that. For others that may struggle with being disciplined in various aspects of life, I want you to know that you are not alone. I classify myself as a fairly disciplined person, but I do have lapses when I fall into bad habits. If that is something that you can identify with, it's totally okay. We are all human and fall short at times. The biggest point that I want to get across in this week's post is the importance of recognizing the benefits of practicing discipline. If you are looking to better yourself in certain aspects of your life, my suggestion would be to take that step and really push it. Just be aware that there will be a sacrifice that is required whenever you're striving to become more disciplined. The sacrifices that are required may be your time, certain pleasure or indulgences that you enjoy, and even relationships with others. Be cognizant of that before you take on the task of being more disciplined. Keeping with the theme of boxing that I referenced to earlier, I'm going to leave this week's topic with a quote from legendary boxer Mike Tyson that deals with being disciplined. The quote goes; "Discipline is going in there and doing something that you don't wanna do, but you do it like you love it."

Well we've arrived at the end of this week topic folks. I wanna give thanks to everyone that stopped by for another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As always, my wish is that there was some meaning and understanding that could be gained from this topic, as well as the rest of the topics that I've talked about. If anyone has any comments or feedback on this or any other topics, please feel free to drop them in the comment box. Well depending on where you live, it is beginning to get warmer so try to get outdoors this weekend and enjoy the weather. Summer will be right around the corner, and we all know how brutal it can get during those months. Go ahead and enjoy before it gets here. Alright I'm out for this time folks, so until next time, I wish you all peace, wellness, and positive thoughts. See you all in the next one.

The Pros and Cons of Life, and Learning to Take the Good With the Bad.

"I love it when a plan comes together." Remember that classic line from the 'A-Team' television show? If not, then don't fret, as that quote has little to do with this week's topic. Just thought I'd throw it in there for nostalgic purposes. Although I do love a well thought out plan in general, I also love whenever I come across a topic or discussion that gives me something to think more in depth about. Some people say that thinking too much can be a bad thing, and I do agree with that to some extent. However, when we're thinking about things that can maybe challenge some of our views and help us to see the world a bit differently, then I don't necessarily see it as such a bad thing. I came across a Youtube video awhile back that really got me to thinking about life and the pros and cons that come along with life. Viewing this particular video kinda got my mind to thinking a bit and when that starts happening, it means that it's time for another 'Brad H.'s Perspective' post.

What's up good people? Brad H. back at you once again with another blog post. Hope everyone is doing well and continuing to maintain. So this week we'll be talking about the pros and cons of life, and how we sometimes just have to take the good with the bad. I think that's sometimes important just for our sanity ya digg? Since every single choice that a person will make throughout their lives will have consequences, I felt like this would be a good topic to give my thoughts on. Alright then, lets go ahead and get into the meat of this post. Now we're all aware that the majority of people in this world bask in the glory whenever they do something deemed as good, or whenever something good happens in their favor. Everything and everyone is happy whenever life is going good right?

This way of thinking is quite normal, as most humans from an emotional standpoint often respond to whatever is going on around them. When things are good people are generally happy, and when things aren't so good, people generally feel down and out right? Of course this doesn't apply to everyone. There are always people in this world that are going to find a way to be happy regardless of what is going on. On the flip side, there's always going to be those that see the worst no matter what. I personally think that we don't always fully grasp the true understanding of the pros and cons that come with life, especially when they relate to the choices and decisions that we make in life. It appears that most of us want only the pros when it comes to the decisions we make, but continuously gripe and complain about the cons that come along with our choices. I mean it's all fine and dandy to feel on top of the world when life is good, and it's also quite normal to feel down and out when things aren't going so well. However, we have to learn to be able to take the good with the bad, and realize that there are pros and cons to every choice that we make.

So what does it mean when someone says that there both are pros and cons with every choice that a person makes? Well it all boils down to one thing, and people that prefer not to take the good with the bad may not like this. The truth is there is no single decision in life that is all pro or all con. With every choice that's made, whether it's for the better or not, there's always going to be some kind of downside that comes along with it. Here's a prime example. Lets say that a person that hasn't been working out makes the decision to start going to the gym. This is definitely a choice that would be received as being positive by most people. You're making the effort to get healthier, and that's a good thing. However, in order to achieve your goal of being more healthier and looking more toned, you're going to have to put your body through some pain, which would probably be viewed as as one of the cons for the person that's enduring it. Some people love looking and feeling great, but hate the pain that they have to go through in order to get there.

It's been said time and time again, but the fact remains; we as people complain way too much. We often complain about the smallest of things, which most of the time are situations that we ultimately create for ourselves. We only want to be bothered with and take credit for the good in life, but we're so quick to run away from and reject the bad, especially when it's of our own doing. You ever notice how a lot of politicians and celebrities tend to be on their high horse when they're on top of the world, but try to humanize themselves whenever they makes mistakes like every human-being does? Pros and cons are all a part of life, and I think that people who really understand that are the people that have the potential to be well balanced in life.

I think I'm going to go ahead and end this week's post, so I'm going to close by restating that life is all about pros and cons. Every single decision that you make, regardless of how much it benefits you, will likely have a con that comes along with it. Instead of complaining about the cons that come along with the decisions that you have to make, embrace them as they are ultimately the result of something you chose. Just remember that you can't have it both ways in life. There will always be both a gift and a curse that comes from your decisions. All in all, you just have to be able to embrace both the good and bad things that can happen in life, and find a way for yourself to mentally find a balance.

Well that's it for this weeks edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. As always, everything that I've mentioned applies to myself and how I aim to live my life. Whether you found some meaning and understanding from it or not, I appreciate you for taking out the time to read it. Alright, we're signing off for this week, so I'll see you in the next post. Spring is upon us, so try to get out and enjoy the weather. Till next time, peace!
