The Importance Of Viewing Your Life In Stages As If It Were Fruit (Watering The Seeds Of Your Life).

Everyone is familiar with the idea that a tree doesn't sprout in one day. When a tree has been planted, it often takes many years for that tree to grow into what its full potential is. The same way of thinking also applies to fruits and vegetables. When the seed of whatever fruit or vegetable that a person is wanting to see grow has been planted, it takes consistent watering and care for it to sprout and grow. As with nearly every aspect of life, we as people along with animals and plants and many other organisms all go through stages that are meant to inspire growth. We as human-beings sound probably identify with this even more so due to the fact that our journey towards being here in this world required a seed to be planted. Furthermore, most of us can attest to the fact that in order for us to get to whatever stages that we are in life today required nurturing and care from our parents and loved ones. Beyond the more obvious aspects of this topic that deals with the nurturing and care that was required for us to be who we are now, many of us forget that the same way that our bodies develop in stages, our livelihoods also unfold in stages as well. There could be a multitude of reasons for why so many of us forget this, however, I think the most common reasoning for this deals with the fact that so many of us compare our lives to those of our peers. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? Just like almost every aspect of life happens in stages, we have to remember to see our own person growth in this manner. We have to begin to look at the mental growth our lives as if it were similar to fruit when it comes to growing properly, and the best way for that fruit of our lives to grow in the manner that it should means that we have to constantly nurture and water it.

What's good everyone? This is your main man Brad H. back at it once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to another topic of discussion with 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! We are back for another week to hopefully dish out some wisdom and inspiration. I hope that all has been going well for everyone since the last topic. Well for my soapbox this week, I'm going to go ahead and give my thoughts on the conclusion of the NBA Finals. Boy did we have a quick NBA Finals this year. The Golden State Warriors pulled off the sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. I think that most people that follow basketball pretty much didn't expect the Cavaliers to win the series. However, I think that the sweep happening could have been a surprise for some. I know I expected the Cavaliers to win at least one game at home. I think this year's finals were pretty uneventful in my opinion. Not to take anything away from the Warriors being the champs once again, but the Cavaliers were just outmatched. I know that LeBron James done all that he could, and he deserves credit for how well he played throughout the playoffs. It is just hard to beat a team like the Warriors that have so many guys that can pick up the slack when one of their players is off. I mean Stephen Curry had a terrible game 3, but you got a guy like Kevin Durant that can put up 43 points. I think it says a lot when Curry has an off night and the Warriors are still able to win. Now that the NBA has concluded, we can look forward to the free agency months this summer. I think this is going to be one of the more interesting summers for free agency that we've had in recent years. Everyone wants to know where LeBron is going to play next. What are the Celtics going to do with so many of their younger players performing beyond their years this season? What is going to happen with my San Antonio Spurs and Kawhi Leonard? Where does Paul George end up playing? These are just a few of many questions that we will hopefully have answers to in the next few months. Alright, I think it is time to go ahead and transition into this week's topic of viewing our lives in stages.

Now that I've gotten on my soapbox and talked about something besides the topic at hand for a bit, it's time for me to go ahead and give the usual disclaimer that I give before addressing any topic I discuss. We all have different ways of viewing and thinking about things. The point of what I'm aiming to do here isn't to focus on what is considered to be right or wrong, but rather to hopefully provide some insight and inspiration. I often encourage myself and others to be open to the idea of thinking of things in ways they may not have before. If reading any of the topics that I talk about has helped someone to be able to do that, then I would consider that to be a good thing. Again, I want to stress that I'm not here to force my beliefs on anyone else. I also don't expect everyone to share in some of my ideas. Whatever you believe or think is okay with me, and even if you happen to disagree with me on this topic or any of the others, I still appreciate the people that are interested in what I have to say. As for how this topic came to be for this week, I would attribute some of it to a video I watched on Youtube a few nights ago. I was listening to a guy talking about the topic of bad habits that we as people often exhibit. At some point during the lecture he was giving, he talked about the human body, and how our bodies are like fruit that grows in stages. This really stood out to me, and I thought to myself if there was a way that I could use that comparison to show that the same logic applies when it comes to our livelihoods. I pondered on it for awhile, and I felt like it was something I could pull off. The reason why I want to use this comparison is due to the fact that so many of us lack patience when it comes to wanting to achieve things in this life. This is something that I have frequently talked about on here, and I'm hoping this this will just be another way for us to use something that most of us can already relate to. I can't promise that everything that I'm going to address will make a lot of sense for everyone, but I will do my best to hopefully get my point across.

Now I think that we can all agree that it is rare that we find that we're in a situation where we're able to do something that may be new to us without having to learn how to do it first. When we first start learning how to ride a bike when we're kids, we don't just hop on the bike and start riding without falling. It is a process of continuing to get up after we fall, which in turn is how we learn how to ride the bike. In relation to the fruit analogy that is the theme that this week's topic is centered around, you can think of getting back on the bike after falling time and time again is similar to watering the fruit that we're trying to grow. Again, this is all a process of steps from the early stages of first getting on the bike, to being good at riding the bike. Now how does this example relate to our lives some of you may wonder? Well from my perspective, and as I mentioned earlier, nearly every aspect of life has stages. However, we must be mindful that while this applies to our lives, the stages at which the fruit grows in a person's life varies. In other words, if life were a race, everyone moves at a pace that fits their personal situation. But with that being said, I believe that though we all move through this life differently, the seeds of our lives still need to be watered in order for us to reach a higher level. I believe that one of the biggest mistakes that so many of us make in life is that we're so eager to get to certain stages of life that we end up skipping steps along the way. Now going back to the fruit analogy, do you really think that a particular fruit will be healthy enough to eat if it isn't grown and watered properly? No, it won't be, and it will likely just wither away. As much as I hate saying what I'm about to say, this is how so many of our lives end up being. A lack of proper growth and nurturing often leads to decline and decay.

When we're talking about a lack of proper growth and nurturing when it comes to our lives, I'm referring to not being able to live the best quality of life that we're able to. From my perspective, the only way to truly live the best version of life is being able to water our life seeds in stages. This perspective not only applies to the physical, it is also the mental and spiritual aspect as well. When dealing with a topic of this nature, I also want you to consider the livelihood aspect of it. As I mentioned earlier, we often compare our lives to our peers. If our peers are doing something or accomplishing things, many of us assume that we need to be doing those things as well. I don't think that most people go in with the intention of thinking this way, but I think it is just in our nature to compare ourselves to others. Now if we're all individuals and have different ways of thinking, wouldn't it also make sense that we have should have different ways of living as well. The stages of your life happen specifically for you and no one else. Everyone has to go through stages in life, but it is the individuality that makes everyone's journeys different. Instead of giving a lot of time and attention to what is happening in whatever stages someone else is in within their life's journey, it is more important to focus on watering your own life seeds to get to where you want to be. I know this isn't an easy concept to endorse, because the truth is that while most people like seeing others get ahead, they may not necessarily want to see people get that far ahead of them. The reality of life that is some people's flowers bloom faster than others when it comes to life, just like some people's life fruit grows more healthier than others. Again, the important thing is to focus on better yourself so you can water your seeds better.

Now that we've talked about the importance of viewing our lives in stages and watering the seeds of our lives, we have to ask ourselves; "How do I water my seeds?" I believe the best way to properly water the seeds of your life to become a better individual ties in directly with self-improvement. I believe that in order to grow our life seeds means taking steps and actions to improve ourselves. This means reading books that deals with growing as a person. It also means getting rid of bad habits and people that are holding us back. I believe it means immersing ourselves in positive habits that will encourage us to do and be better. At the end of the day, no one else can tell you what you should or shouldn't do to water your life seeds. Only you truly know what is and isn't good for you. Everything that I've mentioned so far is only suggestions, but it is up to you in the end. So I'll get ready to bring this to a close by reminding everyone to try and be mindful of these things. As hard as it may be at times, try not to compare your situation to that of others. That only adds stress and can create depression in our lives, and I don't think we can grow as people if we're depressed constantly. Secondly, start looking at your life in stages. Treat everything in your life as a stepping stone to get to something that is hopefully better. Finally, continue to focus on self-improvement, and think of that as watering seeds to grow. A gardener doesn't plant seeds and just leave them to rot off and die. They constantly water those seeds and give them time and attention to help them grow. Lets try to do the same for our lives, and hopefully we'll see ourselves grow exponentially.

Well that is all for this week folks. I hope that I was able to make some sense with all of this, and I also hope that some if not all of you found some kind of value in it. I am Brad H., and this has once again been another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I always appreciate those of you that came by. The Importance Of Why A Change Of Scenery On Occasion Is A Good Thing.

One thing that I believe that we all can agree with is that we all change as we get older. The changes that we all experience come in a variety of both good and bad things, but the idea of we as people staying the same way that we were when we're younger is just an illusion. Of course there are going to be traits that are particular about us as individuals that we will maintain even with age, but the acquisition of life experience and wisdom that we gain throughout our lives will naturally change us. I think that people for the most part grow into a certain state of monotony as we become older. What do I mean when I say this you may wonder? I think that we as people become accustomed to doing and seeing the same exact things on a daily basis. Our reality at various stages of our lives becomes somewhat of a comfort zone for us. We somewhat fall into a stage where we've become accustomed to doing and seeing the same things over and over again, and this becomes a repetition for our lives. Now this is totally fine and works for some people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are some people that have seen and experienced so much in their lives that they're content with their reality. However, there are also those people that aren't totally at peace with whatever reality that they find themselves living in, and there is something inside them that is telling them that there is something more to experience. In today's world that we're living in, not everyone is able to constantly be on the go and seeing new things. However, a change of scenery sometimes can totally help with unrest of the monotony that many of us find ourselves in.

Greetings to everyone out there! This is your guy Brad H. back at it once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! Thank you in advance for everyone that stopped by for another week of positive vibes and and inspiration that can hopefully be some positive food to feed our spirits. Hopefully everyone has been doing pretty good since the last topic, and as always, keep your head up if that hasn't been happening for you as of late. Try to keep in mind that things are never as good or bad as they may seem. So there wasn't any specific news or event that I wanted to bring up in this portion of the topic, so I figured I would address something that happened to me personally this past weekend. I celebrated another birthday last Sunday, so I am now officially 37 years old (young). I must say that this was probably one of the more memorable birthday's that I've had in recent years. The reason I say this is due to the fact that this was one of the few birthday's in recent memory that I spent out of town. When I say spending out of town, I mean spending the night in another city rather than just going away for the day. So I spent the weekend in Ft. Worth with family, and I must say that although I'm not normally one to make a big deal out of my birthday, my folks really went above and beyond to make the weekend enjoyable for me. I finally got to see the movie 'Black Panther' in 3D, and I got to spend time with my folks that I only see a few times out of the year. The reason I bring all of this up for you guys is to remind you all that although people like myself see birthday's as just another day, many people do not. While your birthday is primarily about celebrating another year of being alive, it's always thoughtful to keep in mind what you mean to those that care for you. You being alive to see another year is not only a gift in its own right for you, it is also a gift for those that care about you. With all of that said, I want to thank all of my family and friends for a great birthday. Alright, now it is time to get into the topic for the week of why a change of scenery is good from time to time.

So now that I've gotten on my soapbox for the week, it is now time that I go ahead and get into the usual disclaimer that I give weekly before addressing the topic at hand for the week. I'll start by saying that we all have different viewpoints when it comes to life. None of us will always agree or see eye-to-eye, so the goal here isn't to focus my ideas and beliefs on anyone else. The primary goal here is to provide inspiration for us all, but also to hopefully encourage others to maybe see certain things in a manner in which they may not have before. I totally get and understand if others may not agree with me, and that is fine. If you happened to find yourself here reading this, I appreciate your coming by no matter what you happen to believe in. So how did I happen to arrive at discussing the importance of why a change of scenery is a good thing? Simply stated, it goes back to last weekend being my birthday and spending it away from my normal surroundings. Because I was in a different area besides what I am normally accustomed to, I was able to see things and meet people that I more than likely would not have had I not had that experience. Now as I mentioned previously in this topic, people that are used to traveling a lot will likely not be able to relate a lot to this topic. Just like the monotony of many of our lives is surrounded in one particular place, traveling frequently to a lesser extent probably feels somewhat monotonous for those that do it on a regular basis. For this week, I am mainly talking to those people that are stuck in the realm of monotony, and are finding that they aren't fully satisfied with it.

So as I have stated and established already for this week, many of us fall into a level of monotony as we get older. Some of you may find that you almost become ritualistic in the way that you go about doing things in your life. You probably watch television at the same time everyday, or you may eat dinner or go to sleep at the time that you're accustomed to. Now in talking about monotony when it comes to things such as this, I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing. I believe it can be beneficial to us to practice certain habits at specified times. I say this because when you find that you do things on a set schedule, you often know where all of your time goes, and you're able to plan your time more wisely. When I refer to monotonous behaviors, I'm in no way saying that they're bad. However, from my perspective, a life of monotony can be unhealthy to a certain degree. When I say this, I'm speaking in terms of being stagnated to the point where you're not experiencing anything else in your life besides the monotonous activities that you engage in daily. Now I want to stress again that living in this manner works for a lot of people, and that is totally fine. That said, there are also those out here in the world that live in this manner, but they are not truly happy and fulfilled living in this way. The reason that I say this is due to the fact that just a few years back, I was exactly this kind of person. I was living a life of monotony thinking all was good, but there was something inside of me that just didn't feel right. I didn't quite understand it at the time, but there was a desire to see and try out different things.

Since I frequently use health and fitness comparisons as examples on here, I'm going to go ahead and switch it up and do it again (sarcasm). Yes I was trying to be funny there. But I want you all to imagine someone that runs a few times a week at a track that is just one big circle. This runner goes round and round and doesn't see anything new or different during their workout. Now lets take that same runner and say that he or she decides to run in an area that is different from the track. Lets say they're running in an area where there are different sights and views around each corner, etc. Now of course everyone is different, but I'm almost willing to bet that the runner that we're using as an example in this scenario will find that their more invigorated after having that experience of seeing something different besides their normal routine. This is exactly why I think a change of scenery on occasion is a good thing. A change of scenery can help be a spark to help us become more alive on the inside. Also, a change of scenery or experiencing things that we're not always accustomed to can be a form of growth. From my perspective, life should always be about growing and learning new things. The problem for many of us is that when we become a certain age, we often feel that there is no need to for growth. I can't speak for anyone else, but this is a notion that I totally disagree with. As far as I'm concerned, regardless of your age or how much you've seen, there is always something new to learn as long as you're alive.

I get that monotony and being set in our ways with age is something that is part of life, and I'm in no way saying that anyone needs to switch up their lives or routines completely. I'm simply trying to encourage us all (myself included) to not be afraid to try and see new things every now and then. Again, from my perspective this is important because growth comes from experiencing things that we're not accustomed to. If you're the kind of person that only sticks to events in your area, try to go outside of your area and experience some of those things if you're able to. If you're trying to get into shape and you're doing the same exercises to get fit, I encourage you to try and learn of other exercises that can help keep you motivated to keep sticking with it. From my perspective, we should strive to be people that are constantly trying to grow and expand, so I believe that changing things up sometimes is one of the best ways that we can do this. For me personally, my birthday this year represented a change of scenery, and I am personally happy with the outcome that came from it. It was just another one of the many reminders that I've had over the years to remind me that there are so many things to do and experience in this world outside of what we're used to. So with all of that being said, a change of scenery is important to personal growth in my opinion. Be mindful that no matter where you are or what you're doing, there are so many things outside of your personal realm that are happening. You don't have to be a part of it all, but there is nothing wrong with sometimes making the effort to be a part of it as much as you can.

Well that is all that I got for this time around my people. It is time for ya boy to go ahead and sign off for another week. As always, thanks go to all that took out the time to read another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! That is really something that can't be said enough. I hope that there was some understanding and meaning that was gained from this that served as being helpful to someone's life. Any and all feedback is welcomed, and if you have any questions you can hit me up on Twitter @BradrickH. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and I'd like to give thanks to my family and friends for a wonderful birthday last weekend. I'm truly grateful. I wish everyone out there the best, and I hope everyone has a good week ahead. Take care, stay strong, and I'll see you all in the next post! Peace!

The Importance Of Allowing Room For Correction And Growth.

Although it is nearly impossible to become an expert or master at anything that we may attempt in the beginning of whatever we're trying, most people still subscribe to the idea that we should do well at it from the start. There are numerous reasons as to why the majority of the human race may be feel this way. I think that it could mostly be a pride or an ego thing or on a more positive note, it could be that most people set the bar for themselves very high. While setting a high bar towards a goal can be a good thing, it can sometimes be a potential pitfall as well. Most of us are aware that failing at something when you have set such a high standard can lead to abandonment of that goal completely. Quitting on something shouldn't be the end goal right? The goal should be to work on something continuously until you become much better at it. Again, although progression should be the goal, many of us don't practice the habit of sticking with something till we succeed at it. Basically many of us often give up and throw in the towel way too quickly. As with the majority of things in life, there are always various ways to counteract the practice of giving up too fast, and this method that we'll be talking about is one that probably isn't too popular with those that expect to experience success early on in trying something. What I am talking about you may wonder? Simply stated, we have to leave open the door for correction and growth when it comes to anything that we're aiming to become better at.

Hey, hey what's going on my people? It is your boy Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to the post Thanksgiving edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am back once again to hopefully give out some valuable jewels of information that will hopefully inspire us all to be the best versions of ourselves on a daily basis. I thank you all in advance for stopping by once again to see what is on my mind. Before going more into the topic for the week, I'd like to talk a little bit about some of the things that I'm thankful for. Being that we're a couple of days removed from Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fitting to address this. Now we're all aware that most people forget what Thanksgiving day is all about. I'm not going to go into the meaning or holiday aspect and what it represents. There are people that have various viewpoints when it comes to the meaning behind Thanksgiving, and that is totally fine. But most people see Thanksgiving as a day of food and football, and there isn't anything wrong with that either. In my opinion, Thanksgiving is a day of celebration for the things that we're thankful for in our personal lives. However, this shouldn't only be limited to Thanksgiving day in my opinion. I think it is important to give thanks on a daily basis, which is something that I try to do daily. A few of the things that I'm thankful for include; my eyes to see, my hands to write, my legs to walk and run, my mind to be able to think and overcome, and finally all of my family and friends. I try not to take any of these things for granted as I know that all of them can be gone at anytime. There are many other numerous things that I'm thankful for, but there is no way I could put them all into this post. So with all of that said, I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. Alright, now that we've gotten that out of the way, lets talk more about the importance of allowing room for correction and growth.

As with the normal standard that I've set on here, I'd like to go ahead and give my regular disclaimer in this section. Every single one of us have different views and ways of seeing things in this world. The objective with this topic and blog in general isn't to focus on what is right or wrong, but rather to hopefully put positive vibes out there that will encourage us all in our daily lives. Furthermore, I hope that I am able to hopefully encourage others to maybe view something in a light or manner that they may not have before. As I always mention, I am just one individual that has an opinion. I don't expect everyone to share in my views or opinions, but I do hope that there is something that can be gained from this that will be of help to someone else. I'm a firm believer that one of our missions on this planet is to help and inspire our fellow man if we are able to. As for how this topic came to be the one that I wanted to talk about, there is anything in particular that I can point to. The topic of correction and growth is just something that came to mind a few nights ago when I was thinking about what I wanted to build this week's entry upon. We're all aware that we all make mistakes and while I do believe that this is a pretty straightforward topic to address, I do believe that it is something that doesn't get enough attention. It is also something that I feel that I should have applied more when I attempted certain things in earlier stages of my life. Turning back the clock is impossible, so we must learn and apply the knowledge that we have gained to our lives today.

So as I established earlier in this entry, many of us have the idea that we're supposed to be successful the first time we attempt something. Now there is nothing wrong with having or setting goals towards wanting to accomplish something. I believe that setting goals can be a healthy thing depending on what we're setting goals towards. While having goals is both important and positive, it is also vital to have realistic goals as well. What is a realistic goal? That is totally subjective and it all depends on what your reality may be. However, I want you all to think about something. When a baby begins to try and walk, do or do they not fall many times before finally getting it down? Pretty straightforward example right? It isn't realistic to believe that a baby will get up and start walking without ever falling down. Another example; think of someone that is trying to learn how to play basketball. It isn't realistic to believe that someone trying to learn the game of basketball will go out on the court their first time and make every shot they attempt. A more realistic goal would be to make more shots the next day than the day before right? That person can be confident that they are going to make every shot, but the reality is that it likely won't happen when they're first starting out. Now when a person sets high goals for themselves in whatever it is that they're attempting, it become even more easy to become discouraged when they don't see the progress they want early on. This is why it is important to allow room for growth and correction.

From the perspective that I'm coming from, I feel that we have to learn how to treat everything that we're trying to do in life as process. I think that when we treat things as a process, we are more able to learn and fix corrections when they are needed. When we become overly consumed with doing well from the start, the likelihood of wanting to correct things becomes much lower, and the chances of becoming discouraged and wanting to quit becomes higher. Because we're not allowing room for correction and growth, we're much more likely to just give up. How many times in your life have you tried to do well at something and ended up getting rejected? If it was something that meant a lot to you and was important, you probably didn't allow the rejection to discourage you from going on. You probably used the rejection and disappointment that you experienced as fuel and motivation to do better right? The person that wants to succeed quickly without experiencing any of the potential growing pains that comes along with reaching your goals will likely take themselves out of the game after experiencing rejection. This why it is so important to allow room and correction and growth. Allowing room for these things can only help us to become better at whatever it is that we're striving for in the future. The same way we acquire knowledge throughout life as we grow as people, the same applies towards achieving personal success in your life.

So how do we learn how to allow room for correction and growth in our lives? First off, understand that you are a human-being, which means that you are flawed. A flawed person regardless of how good they are at something will always make mistakes. Understanding that we're flawed individuals helps us to know that there will always be instances where we make mistakes. Knowing this helps in allowing room and correction for growth. Secondly, learn to pace yourself in whatever it is that you're trying to do. You can't conquer the world overnight, so doing things in increments helps greatly. Furthermore, doing things in stages helps us to learn as we go, and similar to treating things as a process as I mentioned earlier, stages allows growth through the process. Think of it as on the job training; you're learning as you go. Because so many people want to experience success early and often, leaving room for correction and growth may not be desirable for many. However, as with anything else in life, patience and practice goes a long way. No matter what you're trying to do in life, remember the importance of allowing room for correction and growth. The quote that I'm going to top this topic off with comes courtesy of Myles Munroe. I think it is a good one in correlation with being open to change and growth. It reads; "Being open to correction means making ourselves vulnerable, and many people are not willing to do that."

Well we have arrived at the end of another week's topic. Thank you all once again to those of you that checked out another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As always, I hope that this topic provided some meaning and insight for all of those that came through. If you have any comments to contribute to this topic or any of the others, feel free to do so. The next time we see one another on here will be in December. The year has really flown by pretty fast. Lets try to make the final month of the year the best it can be everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to you all once again, and I hope you all have a great weekend. Take care of yourselves, and I'll see you all in the next one. Peace!

Personal Growth Should Be A Never Ending Process.

Every now and again throughout this life we're living, we hear about the importance of self-improvement and personal growth. For some people ,these terms primarily apply to the youth and younger generation of the world that have yet to achieve their full potential. While I may personally disagree to some extent with the notion that it only applies to the youth, there is indeed some truth to the importance of why personal growth should focus on the youth. At the same time, I do believe that regardless of how old or wise we may feel we are, there is always room for improvement when it comes to ourselves. From my perspective, personal growth should be a never ending process.

What is good folks? Welcome to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. As I seem to mention quite often in previous posts, it has definitely been a hot minute since I touched down with something recent on here. I believe it has been around four months since my last post. FOUR MONTHS! I won't get into making any kind of excuses for the long absence, but I will say that regardless of how I may go in between posts, you can always be assured that I've been brainstorming and soaking up as much knowledge as I can. For those of you that are regular readers, I truly appreciate your patience and loyalty.

Before I get into this topic that I've been thinking about as of late, I want to give some credit to my younger sister for inspiring me to write this. I had a conversation with her recently and during that conversation, she asked me if I was still writing blogs. I told her that it had been awhile since I had written one, and she proceeded to tell me that she personally finds writing to be therapeutic. I'm already aware of the benefits of writing, but my sister's words gave me an added bit of motivation. Although it has been on my mind to write about various topics on here within the past few months, I allowed other priorities to take over the lead. Now with all of that said, I want to thank my sister for the inspiration, and I also want to acknowledge that she is definitely right about writing being a form of therapy.

So for this time around, I'll be talking about why I see personal growth as a never ending process. Now there are many people that equate their level of wisdom solely to their age. These are the people that feel as if they're wiser than maybe someone younger than they are, primarily because the number of years they've been on this Earth may outnumber someone else. I do feel that there is some validity in someone older thinking this way, however, I also feel that the wisdom varies from person to person. Ever heard the saying that some people only get older in age, but not in mind? If you really consider it, wisdom is purely subjective to what a person has learned and experienced in this life, and while age can play a big factor, it's definitely not the sole determinant of how wise a person may be.

Some of you may wonder what this has to do with the topic at hand. Well, I brought up that point to state that there are many people that feel that because they've reached a certain peak within their lives, there isn't much more they can learn. This thinking especially shows for these people when it comes to them learning from others. I can say this without a doubt, because there have been times that I was one of those hard-headed stubborn individuals that carried the same narrow minded mindset. You see, a certain level of humility in a person is required in order to accept that no matter how much we may think we know, there is always something new that can be learned and applied to our lives. The biggest problem with this is that society has conditioned us that displaying a level of humility is a form of weakness, which is far from the truth in my opinion.

From my perspective, a person that displays a certain level of humility is a true staple of what being strong is. An individual that displays enough humility is strong enough to acknowledge that regardless of age and accomplishments, there is always room for personal growth. In the early 90's former professional basketball player Michael Jordan reached what many considered his peak when he helped carry the Chicago Bulls to three straight NBA championships. Do you really think that Michael would've come back and won 3 more titles in his 30's if he didn't feel that he could grow as a player? I highly doubt it. It's not my place to tell anyone else what to do, but if you're a person that feels that you're too big to take advice from others, then you're likely hindering your personal growth. There are various levels that come to mastering certain aspects of life. If you've managed to reach your peak in one area of your life, look for other flaws and areas of your life that can be worked on. Believe me when I say that there is always room for improvement. Personal growth is a process that should be applied every day, and it's not a process that producers results overnight. Always keep in mind that when a person stops looking for ways to grow and improve, that person that has likely stopped truly living. That's just my opinion.

I think I pretty much gotten the gist of what I wanted to get across out there, so I'm going to go ahead and bring this to an end. I hope there is some meaning and understanding to be gained from this post. Like always, I appreciate those of you that take out the time to stop by. This has been another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. I'll see you all in the next post. Peace!
