The Importance Of Moderating Yourself In Today's Society.

It could just be me thinking along the lines of about what I'm about to say, but I'm sure that some others can agree that the world that we're living in has become even more chaotic over the years. There are so many reasons as to why the world has become the hectic place that it is now. We'd probably be going on and on as to why the world has changed so much, but one aspect of change with anything stems from a natural progression of things. Nothing in life stays the same, and that right there is something that none of us can deny. With a change in the world and how society has progressed (or regressed) over the course of time, we as people are going to change and adapt to the times as well. One of the unfortunate things about change is that sometimes change isn't always good change. From my personal perspective, many of the changes that have taken place over the decades in our society haven't been all good. I know that some may not view it that way, and that is totally fine. Also, while I do believe that there have been a lot of not so good changes in our society, I in no way want to diminish or take away from the good changes that have come. Going back to society and change, the hectic world that we're in now has consumed so many people for the worse. When things are chaotic and there seems to not be a solid foundation of order, the best thing that we as people can do is learn to moderate ourselves even more.

Hey, what's up once again good people! It's your boy Brad H. here bringing you all another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to once again give my perspective on a topic that I believe can help serve as some inspiration for our lives. Thank you to those of you that are joining me for another week of hopeful inspiration. Last week was the week that this topic was supposed to be published. However, I celebrated another birthday last week and just decided that I would try and enjoy the entire week free of any commitments. It was a good week last week, and I am thankful to have lived to see another year pass on the storybook of my life. So for my soapbox on this week's topic, I want to briefly talk about why my birthday will probably no longer be viewed in the same light by me. So my birthday is on March 11th, which is the day last year that the COVID-19 virus was labeled as a global pandemic. As a matter of fact, I'll never forget that it was my birthday last year that the NBA halted its season due to players testing positive. Though I had a much better birthday this year than I did last year, I will always remember that my birthday is the day where the lives of nearly everyone changed. Things are seemingly improving with the pandemic, but it is clear that we are not out of the woods yet. Looking back and reflecting is something that I always like to do because it is a constant reminder of how life is constantly changing. I know that may be pretty random, but I just wanted to use my soapbox to address why my birthday will likely be viewed in a different light for me for as long as I live. So now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets go ahead and talk about the importance of moderating yourself in today's society.

There are so many ways that can define what it means when it comes to the idea of moderation and how it relates to an individual moderating themselves. As with the majority of the topics that I bring up on here, this is one that is subjective to the individual. However, for context within what I'm aiming to convey through this topic, I want to put the emphasis on what I mentioned in the opening. That being moderation within the boundaries and constraints of society at large. I brought up in the opening how the world in general has become so hectic and chaotic over the many spans of decades. There is always going to be change happening, but what happens to society when the changes begin to decay at the fabric of who we are as people? Now again, I don't expect everyone to agree with my assessment on how this world has changed in ways that I personally don't view as being positive towards the advancement of society. Also, I want it to be known that just because I have some of the views that I do about the changes that have happened, I in no way believe that this world is all bad. I am a firm believer that everything is about balance, and things naturally tend to balance themselves accordingly. That being said, I have developed a greater appreciation when it comes to moderation and how it relates to the world in which we live.

Now American culture is general is primarily dominated by a few things when it comes to how people tend to think and behave. Two of the biggest are social media and television. Because many of us spend so much time on these activities, there are so many of us that tend to be drawn to the same things. Of course this doesn't apply to everyone, as there are people that are outliers to my theory on this. Point being is that when it comes to the things that dominate our world, there isn't as much moderation as there was in past years. For example, there was a time when marijuana was use was considered to be a crime. While it is still a crime in certain areas of the world, as well as this country, there are states where it has gained legalization. Now I'm not going to say whether I believe it should be legal or not. Quite frankly it doesn't matter anyway. However, for those that participate in the activity of using marijuana, knowing that there is free reign to use it without any type of consequences could possibly lead to addition. Also, the fact that something is being pushed so hard by the media and television can lead to more people becoming willing to experiment with whatever is being pushed. I know I used the marijuana thing as an example, but this can apply to anything. The main point that I hope people can take from this is that the ability to freely engage in things that were once shunned upon can potentially lead to more addictions.

Now we're all adults here, so I don't think we need to tell people how to live our own lives. However, I believe that when there is a lack of order that exists within a society, the possibility for chaos comes eventually. Just from my own perspective, this world doesn't have what I consider to be proper moderating. This is why I feel that it is of importance for us to be able to properly moderate ourselves as individuals. Now whatever that means for you as a person is totally up to you. Again, I mentioned earlier how this is totally subjective. I just believe that with the way that our society has progressed throughout time has created a world where people are easily brainwashed by media. I will attest that we all have been brainwashed at points of our lives, and it is likely something that will happen for as long as we live. However, one of the goals I have in my life is to be able to live and think freely on my own terms. It isn't always to our benefit if we're always conforming to what society is doing. This may be a bad example, but if you were around a group of people that all decided to jump off of a cliff that you all are near, you wouldn't jump with them would you? Probably not, right? It can be difficult to moderate yourself in a society where people are often shunned for not always taking the popular way of living. As long as you are happy and content with who you are, that is all tha matters in the end. Remember the importance of moderating yourself in today's society.

That's what I got for you all this week! I hope that you all that stopped through found this to be helpful and inspirational to you. Thank you once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As always, I hope that I was able to present this topic in a way that made sense for you all. Why Losing Your Way Doesn't Mean You Are Totally Lost.

I think that we can all admit that staying on the right path in this world that we're living in can be quite a daunting challenge. The majority of us are taking in so much information via social media and television that our minds are often all over the place. It is difficult for a person nowadays to just sit down and concentrate on a single thing without being distracted by a slew of other things. Why do I bring all of this up you may wonder? Well I believe that when we're consuming so many different kinds of things and information that it becomes that much easier to be thrown off of our balance. I feel this is important because having a healthy and stable balance in life is the key to overcoming, as well as avoiding bad habits. I believe the key thing that makes having bad habits such a crutch in our lives is that once we engage in them, often develops into a downward spiral for a period of time. When it comes to the topic of losing your way, I believe that most of it stems from bad habits and things that may trigger us into bad habits. Now in saying that, I'm not implying that social media and television are the sole reasons why these type of things happen. I do however they can play a huge role in leading us down the wrong path. In all honesty, it really isn't that hard to believe since the majority of the things that we're being shown via television and social media aren't good. The bottom line with all of this is that too much consumption of bad habits, social media, and television can be hindrance in keeping us on the straight and narrow. Now regardless of how much balance an individual may have in their life, it is eventual that we're going to be taken away from our center and lose our way. Though losing our way isn't a good thing in this life, losing our way doesn't mean that we're totally lost.

Mic check, one, two; one two! Can y'all hear me loud and clear? Of course I'm just kidding with the mic thing, but I'm Brad H. back on the blog mic once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. I am here once more to hopefully bring some information that will serve as inspiration to us all. Thank you to everyone that is joining me once again. So for those of you that read the last post, I pointed out that I would be celebrating another birthday on March 11. In the last post I talked about how much I appreciate birthdays now. This time I'm going to briefly touch on what happened on my birthday this year. I had the opportunity to attend the Houston Rockets vs. Charlotte Hornets game in Houston. This was my second time going to an NBA game, but besides this one being on my birthday, what made it even more interesting was the seats me and my family had this time around. We were a lot closer to the action, and they actually cost a lot less than the ones we had last year. Many of you probably know that I'm a die hard San Antonio Spurs fan first, but I do like the Rockets as well. I favor the "Clutch City" Rockets from the 90's more, you know the teams that had Hakeem Olajuwon, Vernon Maxwell, Kenny Smith, etc. I could go on naming them, but I think you all get what I mean. The game itself wasn't that competitive, as the Rockets controlled the game for the most part. The big treat for me was seeing Kemba Walker from the Hornets play. Since I follow the NBA so closely, I can probably point out a player or players from nearly every team that I like. For the Hornets that would be Kemba. Though the Hornets lost the game (I'm glad they did), it was nice seeing Kemba play one of this better games of this year. He had 40 points, but I can't remember the exactly total number of assists and rebounds he had. Anyway, the guy was cooking, and it seems like he didn't miss. As I mentioned the game wasn't that competitive, but still a fun time. There were several other things I done for my birthday, but due to time constraints I will leave those details out. I want to thank everyone on Twitter that wished me a Happy Birthday. As I said in the last post, I appreciate these things so much more now that I'm older, and I can say without a doubt that the last two birthdays I have had were extremely special. I have my family to thank for that. Hopefully I will get to see another one next year. Alright, I've rambled enough, so lets go ahead and get into this week's topic of why losing your way doesn't mean you're entirely lost.

The topic of dealing with a person losing their way can be a tough one to tackle. For one, there are so many different ways that a person can lose themselves. It is for that reason that I am going to deal with generalities while discussing this topic. Secondly, a topic like this one often requires us to look at ourselves in a light that we may prefer not to. Often times when we lose our way in this journey life, it involves us falling back into a habit that isn't good for us. The even scarier thing in saying that is the idea that it often times isn't just a single habit that is affects us. I'm a firm believer that poor habits breed even poorer habits. As I pointed our earlier, habits can quickly turn into a downward spiral. Now one of the things that I've frequently brought up on this platform is the fact that we're imperfect individuals. This coincides with us losing our way due the fact that because we are imperfect people, there are going to be times when we will lose our way. Everyone's situations are going to be different, but there is no way to truly escape something that inescapable. Beating something that hinders us in life is often only the beginning; it is the war that rages on afterwards that matters the most. Now the reason why I have established all of this is show that it isn't all that difficult for us to lose our way. Also, if you do happen to lose your way at some point in life, though not a good thing, it isn't something that you should beat yourself up over. Again we're not perfect individuals, so none of us are immune to these things happening. Furthermore, and the main theme of this discussion is that if you do indeed happen to lose your way at some point in this life, all isn't totally lost.

I pointed out previously that beating something is often only the beginning. From my perspective, the struggles that we face in our lives are similar to a war. As much as many of us may hate to admit it, and that includes myself, wars in general are often never ending. The smaller battles that take place throughout a war can often lead us to think that the war is over. However, this is often far from the case, and the greater war will continue rage on. For example, lets say that an individual has an addiction to food right? This person loves food to the point where it has become a detriment to their life and health. Lets say that this person eventually beats and escapes this addiction to the point where they feel that have a grip on being able to control their addiction to food. Now similar to an an wound that someone has, if you pick at that wound enough, it can open up once again. Now the thing like something like food addiction, and most addictions in general, though you may have conquered them at a certain point in your life, they are still ever present. In the example that I'm giving with someone dealing with food addiction, escaping food is impossible because it is something that we need to survive. It is something that is always going to be around right? Therefore, it is something that you can necessary win a war against. The same person that has beat their food addiction can easy be triggered into falling back into their addiction to food if they're not able to consistently win the daily and individual battles that go along with being at war with yourself. I used food addiction as an example, but remember that this logic can apply to anything that hinders us from reaching our full potential. However, as I have stated several times already, all is not lost.

If you are someone that is maybe feeling like you've lost your way in this path in life as of late, be mindful that you can always get back on the right path again. This is the reasoning for why I say that losing your way doesn't mean that you are totally lost. This society that we live in that seems to harp more on the bad and negative can have you thinking that losing your way means that you are lost forever. We have to be able to see ourselves as if we're driving down an unknown highway. There are going to be times during your drive where the ride will be smooth and pain free. There are going to be times when there will be bumps and potholes that send a jolt of shock to us. Then there are going to be in the worse case scenarios where something causes us to veer of the road completely. Going off of the road completely is definitely a bad thing, but the thing about going off of the highway is that as long as you're able to survive the bumps and veering, you can always get back on the road. Remember that for as long as you're able to be on the road moving forward, then you are never truly lost. I use this analogy because I can distinctly remember using it years ago when I was talking to a friend of mine from high school. Also, I want you all that are reading this to keep in mind what I brought up earlier when I said that everyone has different things that may cause us to lose our way. I brought up the whole social media and television thing in the first paragraph because I know that much of what goes and it being shown through these outlets are much of the catalyst that causes people to lose their way. It often doesn't take much to plant a seed of negativity in our minds, and we know that seeds can always grow into something more. So this is just some inspiration for anyone that is feeling like they've lost their way recently. You are never lost, you may just have to battle whatever it is in your life that you're at war with. Time to stand up and fight back!

Well I believe that I have pretty much covered everything that I wanted for this topic, so it is time for me to depart for this go round. This is one that could be elaborated on more, and I'll leave the door open for that in the future. But for now, I'll leave it at this. This has once again been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. I am Brad H., and I'd like to once again thank those of you that stopped by. If anyone has any comments or feedback to give, feel free to do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter, you can also hit me up at the handle @BradrickH. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far, and I hope that you all have an even greater week ahead. Till the next time that we meet, I wish you all the best. See you all in the next installment! Peace!

The Importance Of Using Your Time To Develop Yourself.

I can't recall at the moment exactly what show it is, but there is a quote from this particular show that I'm referring to that has stayed in my mind since hearing it. The quote goes; "Time runs us all." We are all given a limited amount of time to live here on this planet. Exactly how much time that we have here is something that we don't know, nor do we always have control over it. However, what we choose to do with our time is something that we have complete control of. It appears to me that in the society that we live in today, many of us don't utilize the time that we're given to its full potential. Not saying that this hasn't been going on for many years, because it most certainly has, however, the world we live in today seems to value a lot of meaningless things when it comes to valuing our time. We spend much of our time gossiping and paying attention to a lot of mindless and zombie style brainwashing via social media and entertainment. Now in saying that, I'm in no way attempting to bash people that participate in these things on a regular basis. Besides the gossiping aspect of entertainment, which is something that I would never endorse doing, we all enjoy and should be able to engage in things that entertain us from time to time. But when it comes to our time and how we spend it, one thing that we often neglect is using our time to work on and develop ourselves. Because our time here is precious and limited along with not always knowing how much time we have left here, I believe it is of utmost importance to use our time to work towards developing ourselves.

Welcome back once again good people! It is ya boy Brad H. back once again to bring you all another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! We're here again to drop some valuable knowledge and inspiration here that will hopefully inspire us all to become a better version of ourselves. I thank everyone once again in advance if you're taking out the time to read this here. We have arrived at the month of December, which means that the year 2017 is winding down to its end real soon. I'll probably reflect more on this year and some of the struggles that I've had to face this year in the final topic that I write on in the next installment. What I want to use my soapbox to address here is something that seems to happen every year before the upcoming year comes in. Most, if not all of us are always happy and excited for the holidays. The holiday season represents many things, but they mainly coincide with appreciating and spending times with our loved ones. Even though the holidays are a great time of the year for many, there are also many people that are and have endured losing loved ones around this time of the year. I myself can identify with this as I lost someone very close to me on the week of Thanksgiving back in 2013. I'm sure that many of you have dealt with the loss of a loved one during the holidays as well. One thing that I always heard my grandmother say is that a certain amount of people have to leave this world before the new year comes in. After seeing and hearing about so many people die around the holidays over the years, some in ways that you wouldn't expect, I totally get what she was saying now. Many people won't make it to see this upcoming new year, and it can be anyone of us. With that said, I hope that we all can remember to value whatever time we have here. Also, use this time of the year to reflect and remember those that are no longer here with us. That's pretty much all I want to say in regards to that, so lets go ahead and transition into this week's topic of using our time to develop ourselves.

Like I normally address before going into the meat of the topic for the week, I'd like to go ahead and give my regular disclaimer. We all have different views and opinions on how we see things. Trying to change other peoples minds isn't the objective here. The mission is to put out positive energy that will help keep us all motivated in this life. Although I'm not aiming to alter anyone's opinions, I do hope that through this process that I am able to help other people to think about topics in a manner in which they may not have before. Basically we're trying to encourage, and provide some insight that will hopefully get us to thinking about certain things. As I mention in all of my topics, I am just one individual that has an opinion, and I do not expect everyone to share in my views. Whether you agree or disagree with my opinions is totally fine. Whatever your beliefs may be, I am still glad to have you here. As for how this topic came to be, there isn't anything that has happened or I saw that I can definitively say that caused me to write about this particular topic. All I can really attribute it to is just sitting around one day thinking about how much we often waste our time, often on meaningless things. As someone that has developed an almost obsessive love with personal development over the past 3 years, I feel that I should address how important it is that we use our time to work on ourselves. If you're someone that is happy and stable in where you are in your life, this topic probably won't matter to you as much. This is a topic that those of us that have maybe looked back and realize that we could have done more to develop ourselves instead of consistently engaging in meaningless things.

As I hinted at earlier in this post, many of us in today's society are over consumed with being entertained. Again, I'm not saying that it is wrong to want to be entertained, but I think most of us can admit that we give too much time and energy towards it. Think about this for just a second; how many times have you opted to watch television instead of reading a self-improvement book? How often have you mindlessly browsed through social media instead of taking a walk or jog around your block? If we're being honest with ourselves, most of us can probably admit that we haven't properly prioritized our time. There is nothing wrong with doing the things that you enjoy that are related to being entertained. However, reaching your own personal potential and taking care of the important things in your life should always come first before entertainment. I always tell others that spending hours upon hours of time on social media platforms like Snapchat and Facebook should only be for people that have reached the level of success they're trying to achieve in their life. Yet, most of the time we often see so many people using these platforms to either complain about how bad their life is, or they're way too interested in what is going on in other people's lives. Question; how exactly does being overly consumed with what other people are doing in their lives is helping us? These media personalities and celebrities that we worry about following so much aren't doing anything to help better us, yet we spend hours and hours of time worrying about what is happening in their lives. Doesn't seem quite right when you think about it, does it?

So if you're spending all this time keeping up with what everyone else is doing, what exactly are you doing to improve yourself? There are many of us that talk about various things that we want to do in our lives, whether it be the present, or the future. We talk about these things we hope to do, yet we don't always apply the necessary time that is needed to reach these goals. There in lies the importance of why we need to use our time wisely. From my perspective, much of the time that we waste on things that do absolutely nothing to help better us in any aspect of our lives is one of the main reasons we never fully reach our capabilities. It doesn't make much sense to repeatedly say that I'm going to, or I want to do this and that, yet you don't put any time towards what you're wanting to do. Now understandably so, many of us likely feel as if we have time to become the best versions of ourselves. You could probably be right if you do have that mindset, however, there is really no way to really know is it? As I mentioned earlier, we don't know when time is going to run out for us. You have to think of your life as an hourglass, and with everyday that goes by, the sand in that hourglass decreases bit by bit. Everyday that passes us by that we haven't learned anything to better ourselves is another day that is likely wasted. Some of us say that we're going to change "someday", but there isn't a day of the week named "someday". All we have is the present, and what time better than any to take the necessary steps to better ourselves?

The main goal with this week's post is to let everyone know that time isn't on our side when it comes to accomplishing things. I know that sounds simple and it is something that we've all heard countless time. However, I feel that this is something that can never be addressed too much. Again, if you're a person that is happy and content within your life, you can go ahead and indulge in various forms of entertainment and fun. But if you're someone that wants to better yourself and hope to become the best individual that you can be, lets cut out a lot of the bad habits and behaviors that do little to nothing to help us. You don't want to be that person that ends up with health problems later on in life that could have been prevented if you got up off the couch and walked around the block daily. The time is now folks, so use it wisely. The quote that I'm going to leave you all with comes from The Dalai Lama. I think this is a pretty good one. It reads; "Everyday think as you wake up today that I am fortunate to have woken up. I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to othrs, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can."

We are once again at the end of another topic for the week. Much thanks once again to you all that peeped out another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As usual, I hope that there was some understanding and inspiration that could be gained from this. If you have any comments or feedback, feel free to drop those down below. Also you can ask or follow me on Twitter @BradrickH. Well I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable weekend, and an even greater week ahead. Be sure to keep in your thoughts those that have lost a loved one during the holidays, and lets continue to reflect and remember those that are no longer with us. We still got a few weeks left in this year, so lets try to make them the best weeks of this year. Take care everyone, and I'll see you all in the next one. Peace!

The Importance Of Mentally Protecting Your Eyes and Your Ears (Watch What You Choose To Give Energy To).

The eyes and ears; two of the very most vital organs of our bodies that we use for listening and visualization. There are so many quotes and references that have been made throughout the years when it comes to the importance of both the eyes and ears. One of the most popular quotes in regards to the eyes goes; "The eyes are the window to the soul." A recent quote that I came across that deals with the value of the ears says; "Ears are the extension of the heart, so if you know how to listen, you know how to love." When the average person may hear anything about taking care of their eyes and ears, they likely think of a visit to an optometrist, or visiting an ear doctor. While it is indeed a fact that we must care for both the eyes and ears from a medical standpoint, there is another aspect of self care many people neglect when it comes to these two organs; the mental side. The eyes and ears are not only physical organs that we use for everyday sights and sounds, they're also valuable to maintaining a healthy and tempered state of mental wellness. I've been thinking about this topic as of late, and I think it's an appropriate one to get a bit more deeper with, and give out some information on. The eyes and ears must be maintained physically, but it's very important to protect them mentally and spiritually as well.

Hey, hey, hey, it's the Fat Albert show! Nah, I'm kidding with you all of course. What's up guys? It's the young soul Brad H. coming back at you once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. Some of you may already know how the routine goes, but for those of you that do not, I'm here to give my perspective on topics that I feel will not only benefit myself, but hopefully be of help to others as well. So how have you all been doing since the last entry? I know many of you probably have been watching the Olympics that are taking place. I've been watching it off and on, but it has been pretty exciting seeing so many Americans doing so well in the individual competitions. I mean what else can you say about Michael Phelps other than he's absolutely an Olympic legend? People normally classify athletes as legends once they retire, but I think it's safe to say that Phelps being regarded as a legend before he even retires is justified. Also, Simone Biles has continued to show just how dominate of a gymnast she is. Finally, seeing Simone Manuel become the first African-American woman to win the gold in an individual swimming event was great. Her interview afterwards was really touching and heartfelt. Being that they're both her and Simone Biles are Texans like myself, I'm very happy for them. Congrats goes to them both, as well as everyone else who is doing well this year in Rio. There are too many for me to name at this time, so congrats to everyone. We still have a few more days of events left, so lets cherish and enjoy them. After all, they only come around once every four years. Alright, now that I've used up my soapbox for a bit, lets go ahead and get into this week's main topic of the importance of protecting your eyes and ears.

Before getting started, I always aim to point out in my writings that a person's individual viewpoint on a topic will always vary from person to person. My focus isn't to put too much energy into what is considered to be right or wrong, but rather to give those that read on these topics something to think about further. My primary goal with this entry and this blog in general is to hopefully inspire others, as well as myself through this platform. If anyone happens to disagree with my perspective on this or any of the topics I discuss, that is totally okay. Now I usually give a little insight into how I came to write about whatever topic that I'm discussing for the week. However, I don't feel it's necessary to do this time since it's something that I've somewhat highlighted in previous posts. If you're familiar with some of my past blog entries, you've probably heard me say something along the lines of; "My ears are closest to my eyes and mouth, so any advice that I give applies to me as well." Although I've been thinking about the topic that we're talking about as of late, it's something that I already give thought to on a frequent basis, which is evidenced by my mentioning of it in past posts. Because of that factor, I'm just going to go ahead and dive right into this topic, and why I think it should be considered such an important thing.

So as I stated earlier in this post, the eyes and ears aren't just organs that we use for seeing and hearing. Although sight and sound are regarded as the primary purposes of the ears and eyes, there is a mental aspect that goes along with the things we give our eyes and ears to. Now the eyes and ears may be two different organs, but like everything else in our bodies, they connect to our brain. Most of us are already aware of this fact, but despite having different organs that make up our bodies, everything in our body connects in some way. We also know that the brain is the main organ of our central nervous system, but it's also much more than that. There have been many debates as to whether or not our brains are similar to computers. I'll leave that up to you to decide whether you believe that to be true or not. However, there is no denying that our brains are the haven for the things we see and hear. Everything that we see and hear gets stored within our brains in some way or another. Whether it is happening knowingly or subconsciously, everything that we give our ears and eyes to is being stored in our brains. Now I'm far from a doctor, and I apologize for all the medical jargon. However, I hope that you can see where I'm going with all of this.

Now we can't always control what we see and hear, however, there are times when we knowingly give our eyes and ears to less than positive things. There are all kinds of things on television and the Internet that we consciously give a lot of energy to that don't generally benefit our minds. We all know people that like to gossip and spew a lot of negativity about others, and while we may not personally participate in this kind of stuff, our ears are still taking in all this negativity. Where do you think all these negative things that we see and hear are going? They're going straight to our brains, which plays a huge part on what kind of state of mind we maintain. Do you really think that we as a people are going to be able to maintain a healthy and positive state of mind if we're constantly feeding our brains negativity? I personally don't think so, which is why it's important to do all you can to protect what your eyes and ears give energy to. I'm sure that most of us have watched or heard something that had such an extreme shock value that despite it probably happening years ago, it has still stuck with us and has a negative impact on us even to this very day. Again, I'm not talking about things that we see or hear that couldn't be helped. I'm referring to the things we consciously give energy to.

While I see it as imperative to protect our eyes and ears from a mental standpoint, I'll attest that it's definitely not an easy thing to do in a world that continuously feeds us a lot of garbage and negativity. Besides the obvious choices of limiting what we choose to watch on television and the Internet, as well as who we choose to hang around, I honestly can't say that I have any other sound advice or solutions to better ways to watch the things we feed our brains. All I can really do is try to do my part in trying to make others aware of this topic and it's importance. From my perspective, I see this topic as something very important to address in a world that I feel aims to influence us negatively on a daily basis. It's very crucial to our lives to care for ourselves physically. However, we also want to have our minds healthy and functioning at its peak. The powers within our minds are limitless, and I feel that in order to unleash those power to their fullest potential, an awareness of the things we choose to view and listen to is a requirement. With all of that said, I want to say to anyone that may already be striving to free their minds of the negativity that is constantly be shoved in our faces daily, keep on pushing to combat against it. Again, it may not be easy, but being aware of something arms us with all the needed tools to defeat it.

Well I believe I'm going to go ahead and end this week's post. I hope that there was some kind of meaning and understanding gained from this week's topic. Thank you again to those of you that stopped through for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' once again. My Celebrity Best Friend(Worshiping of Celebrities).

I sometimes sit back and ask myself; What is wrong with some of us in America? A lot of us tend to have our priorities all messed up. We spend so much of our time and energy following things and subjects that do little to better our own lives. So many topics of importance are happening right before our eyes, but many of us are not aware. We're so consumed with social media, reality television, and celebrity news. It's no wonder why we have the 17th ranked education system in the world. With that said, this is your main man Brad H. once again, and this is another edition of 'Brad H's Perspective'. Thanks for tuning in.

So I titled this blog post 'My Celebrity Best Friend', and you're probably wondering why. I'm using this as an analogy as to how so many people seem to worship celebrities in our society. One thing that I've noticed as I've gotten older is that if you tend to think differently than the masses, you're automatically labeled something. You may be labeled as being crazy, an outsider, or even a hater. This logic can relate to anything, whether it's religion, politics, etc. After doing some research, I actually found out that there is a medical term titled 'Celebrity Worship Syndrome'. It's defined as "an obsessive-addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with the details of a celebrity's personal life." I'm not saying that a majority of people have this syndrome, or take it to those levels. However, the way that celebrity news is constantly crammed down our throats via social media and television, it's not hard to imagine how some people can become overly obsessed.

Now before anyone attempts to say I'm a hater, I want to get this out; There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking or admiring an entertainer that you like. Everyone one of us has an actor, musician, athlete or TV personality that we like. However, I think that some people go way overboard in their liking - almost to the point where it becomes an obsession. Some people defend celebrities, almost fiercely. If you say that you don't care for a certain celeb, you're a 'hater' in some people's eyes. Really? So let me get this straight - you're calling someone a hater just because they don't like someone that you don't even know personally? Where is the real logic in this? Even if you're a fan of... lets say Beyonce, what are the chances of you becoming a REAL friend of hers? Sure you may go to some of her concerts, and maybe even get a chance to meet her personally. However, do you really believe that she is going to remember you, or view you as an important person in her life? I highly doubt it. Think about it, celebrities meet thousands of people on a month to month basis. They travel and perform all over the world. There is no possible way that they can remember, or develop a relationship with every fan they meet.

If you really look at things for what they're worth, most of us aren't anything but a business associate to these entertainers and celebrities. We pay money to watch them perform, or to see them on the big screen. We enjoy their talents, and they become rich based on money that the fans pay. That's really it. Don't allow yourself to be fooled either. Celebrities are human-beings just like everyone else. The only things that separate them from everyone else is their fame, exposure, and talents. Other than that, they live, eat, breathe, and bleed just like everyone else. So to sum it all up, it's okay to admire and appreciate celebrities, but there is no need to worship, or make them out to be anything more than what they are. I've had this discussion with several people, and I've received various feedback on it. I'm hoping that will be the case here as well.

Well that's it for this edition of 'Brad H's Perspective'. As always thanks for reading, and we'll see you all in the next one. Peace!
