The Importance Of Giving Fuel To Your Purpose.

I can't remember exactly the year and date when I done so, but a couple of years back I wrote a post about the importance of a person staying on their purpose. That particular topic mainly dealt with not only a person defining what their purpose is, but also the importance of a person staying on their purpose. One of the things that I didn't touch on in that topic is how does a person fuel their purpose. Now when most people think of fuel, you probably think instantly of a car or some other type of vehicle that is operated by gas. I totally get it, and though there is a huge difference between a vehicle and a person's purpose, there are some similarities as well. Now in order for any type of instrument that runs by gasoline to work, it must be fed fuel, right? Though it may be different in terms of how different a vehicle is from a person's purpose, the same logic applies when it comes to an individual giving fuel to their purpose. A person can claim that they know what their purpose is, but it doesn't mean anything if that person isn't taking the necessary steps to fuel their purpose. Because I personally feel that a person's purpose is so important in life, I think that addressing the importance of giving fuel to your purpose can add an aspect of purpose that isn't often talked about.

Happy 2022 everyone! I go by the name of Brad H., and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to once more give my perspective on a topic that I think that would be beneficial towards keeping us motivated in our daily lives. I'd like to extend a thank you to those of you that have came through for another one of my topics. I hope that the new year has been treating you all well so far. We are only 8 days into the year 2022, so we have to be mindful to temper our expectations on what we think this new year will bring. Try not to let your highs get too high, and vice versa with the lows you may face. I really don't have much of a topic to contribute to my soapbox for this week. I just watched my Dallas Cowboys beat down the Philadelphia Eagles, and I am pretty pleased with that. Since I don't really have a topic to add to this section, I will just use it to say thank you to everyone once again. I know I say it a lot, but I believe any and everyone that reads these topics deserve it. This year marks 12 years of my maintaining this blog! I'm just truly grateful for the people that have spent time reading over the years. Like I heard the rapper Big Remo say in one of his songs; "If I could I'd hug all y'all at the same time!" Seriously though, thank you all! So now that we've addressed that, lets get into the importance of fueling our purpose.

Now as I pointed out earlier in this topic, the primary goal with this week's topic isn't to focus on what you purpose may be. We are coming into this topic with the idea that we have already defined what our purpose, or purposes if you have more than one are. So hopefully for everyone that may be reading this has already found what their purpose is. Now I previously defined in past topics what I believe it means to have a purpose in life. I personally think it's a fairly straightforward definition, but I will go ahead and reiterate what it means to me for anyone that hasn't read previous topics. From my own perspective, I feel that purpose is the thing or things that give us a reason for want to exist in this life. Your purpose is basically all the things that motivate you to want to get out of bed every single day. Purpose isn't limited to only one thing, and can include a multitude of various aspects of our lives. We all may have similar purposes when it comes to certain facets of life, but we also have different things that we define as our purpose. Most of can see that having a purpose is very important in life, and I would dare say that many people probably would lack desire and motivation with having a purpose.

Now we're all aware that if you do not put any energy towards anything you're passionate about in life, then you will likely not get anything back in return. There is always going to be effort that is required on our parts for the things that we want to work out in our favor to work for us. You may wonder how does this relate to purpose? From my perspective, many of us start off fueling our purpose, but as time carries on, many of us allow the purpose gas tank to run completely empty. Now I'm in no way saying that this applies to everyone, but I can admit myself that I have had the problem of allowing my tank of purpose to run on E. There can be many reasons as to why a person can lose fuel for their purpose. One of the biggest reasons is becoming too results oriented. If we don't see the results that we want when we feel we want, the motivation can dry up. Stagnation is another potential reason why a person can lose interest in their purpose. Again, there are many reasons that can be specific to a person and their circumstances. I believe that in order for purpose to work for us, we have to consistently work at fueling it. This can be extremely difficult to do if and when that desire begins to dry up. However, there is something key that we need to remember when it comes purpose, which is why I think it is of importance to fuel that purpose.

Fueling your purpose; why it is so important for us to fuel our purpose? There are numerous reasons as to why I believe it is of importance for us to fuel our purposes. However, one of the things that sticks out to me is how purpose can sometimes be all that we have. What I mean by this is that there are some people in this world that would be nothing without their purpose, or a purpose in general. Whether that is real or imagine is solely up to the individual. I touched on this earlier, but without a purpose, many people would likely cease to have a reason to want to live. From my perspective, if a person's purpose can be that great of magnitude to a person's life, then it is something that needs to given utmost attention. I personally believe that this is the main reason as to why it is so important for us to fuel our purposes. For some people it comes down to have reason to want to live, so in order for people that view it in this way to survive, they have to constantly fuel their purpose. This means that we have to be willing and able to always give the proper attention to our purposes. Just like the car analogy that I used earlier, you can't allow your tank to run on empty. You have to always refill and refuel, otherwise there is that possibility that life can come to a screeching halt is more than one way.

That's what I got for you all with the first topic of 2022. I hope that you all found it to be both helpful and enjoyable. If you found it to be of some sort of benefit to you, please let me know down below in the comment box. Any other questions or concerns can be left in the box as well. If you've read this far, thank you once again for coming by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that you all are enjoying 2022 so far, and I hope that this year brings you all the happiness that you desire. I'll see you all in a couple of weeks with the next topic on deck! Have a great rest of the weekend, and an even better week ahead! Peace out!

The Importance Of Maintaining A Steady Stride Towards Your Goals.

Anyone that has set any type of goals for themselves knows that goal setting consists of both high and low points while we're aiming to achieve them. There are going to be times where you set a goal for yourself that works out exactly the way you planned it to. This type of achievement is what the majority of us look for when we set goals. We want whatever we're looking to do to work out on the first attempt. The other side of this is that there are going to be occasions where working towards a goal that you've set for yourself is going to come with stumbling blocks. These are the times when we find ourselves facing adversity towards reaching our goals. The tribulations that we face in these type of instances play a major role in whether we accomplish our goals or not. I dare say that depending on what kind of goals you set for yourself, the latter is likely the path that a good many of us will have to face. Another aspect of goal setting that I've pondered on recently is the aspect of speed. Some of you may wonder what exactly does speed have to do with setting goals for yourself? Not only does speed correlate with reaching our goals, it is often times one of the major driving forces in our lives. Various goals have different speeds at which they're reached. There will be some goals that can be reached very quickly, while there are some that are more time consuming. For clarity on the topic at hand for this week, I'm primarily coming from a perspective of the goals that require more time to reach. That being said, regardless of how long certain goals take to reach, from a mental aspect of viewing this, most of us are going to want to come out of the blocks fast. I personally see this as a potenially bad thing, which is why I believe that it is of importance for us to maintain a steady stride towards our goals.

HAPPY 2020 EVERYONE! This is your boy Brad H. coming at you all once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This is a space where I address various topics that I think about in my everyday life, and through the thoughts I have, I aim to put them into words that will hopefully help in keeping us motivated. I'd like to say thanks once again to the long time readers, and a big welcome to anyone that is reading for the first time. I hope that the new year has been treating you all well so far. So for my soapbox in this week's topic, I'm going give my thoughts on the NFL playoffs that are starting today. It sort of feels like déjà vu for me because I remember writing last year during Wild Card weekend, and the Houston Texans were playing first just like they are today. So we got the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills taking on each other first. Not sure who is going to win that one. I'm rooting for Houston, but I'm skeptical about their quarterback Deshaun Watson as of late. He hasn't been playing all that well in my opinion. Maybe I'm just a little bitter because I had him in one of my fantasy leagues. Next game is the New England Patriots vs. the Tennessee Titans. Normally we would predict the Patriots would win, but I predict the Titans to take this game. The Patriots offense has been terrible this year, and the Titans have been playing well for the past several weeks. Tomorrow we got the Vikings taking on the Saints in New Orleans. I believe the Saints got a huge chip on their shoulder after last season, and I think they win tomorrow. Finally for Wild Card weekend, we got the Eagles and the Seahawks squaring off. I don't like the Eagles, so I'm pulling for Seattle. I would give Seattle the edge, but the Eagles are like cats; they have many lives it seems. For those of you that are watching the NFL playoffs, what are some of your predictions? Feel free to leave that in the comment section. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk more about the importance of maintaining a steady stride towards your goals.

Before going into the importance of maintaining a steady stride in our various quests towards reaching our goals, I want to start off by saying that the main reason that I chose to bring this up as a topic is primarily due to the fact that we are officially in a new year. A new year is often viewed as a clean slate for a lot of people. I'm sure that many of you will be setting new goals for yourself this year, and my hope is that this topic can be used as a reference for us all in aiding us towards reaching those goals. Now I spoke in the preview of how speed plays a large role when it comes to our goals. The biggest reason why I feel that speed matters comes from the fact that different type of goals have different expectations for how long they will take to reach. You are going to have some goals that you can reach fairly quickly, maybe even in a single day depending on what you're trying to achieve that day. Then there the goals that are going to be more lengthy. These are the goals that could take weeks, months, and even years to accomplish. Now your quicker goals usually aren't as easy to quit on due to the fact that they often don't take long to reach. On the other hand, the more longer goals are much different because of the extended time they often take to reach. These more lengthy types of goals are the ones that will require you to maintain a steady stride if you want reach them.

For this section of the topic on maintaining a steady stride towards your goals, I'm going to use an example of the sprinter vs. the steady stride mindset when it comes to setting goals from my perspective. When you think of Olympic runners for example, they are often categorized as being sprinters or long distance runners. We're all aware that your sprinters generally run the shorter distances, which means they have to get out of the blocks fast in order to win the race. The long distance runners have to be fast also, but they have to pace themselves more towards the finishing their particular race. If they do not properly pace themselves during the long distance they have to run, they will gas out and probably end up not finish the race. The way that these two examples coincide with the idea of accomplishing goals is that just as goals are defined differently for us all, the approach that we have towards them is a key component to how we complete them. Now you would think that if you have a goal that you'd like to accomplish that could be considered to be long term in categorization of goals, wouldn't it benefit you more if you had the steady stride mindset?

So all of this brings us to the entire point of this topic, which is the importance of maintaining a steady stride towards your goals. I mentioned earlier how a goal that could be classified as one that could be achieved quickly would likely mean that the chances of quitting on it would be slimmer right? From my perspective on this topic, the primary reason I feel we have to maintain a steady stride towards our goals is because the longer the mission takes, the more your will and desire to finish it will be tested. What I'm about to say likely goes without saying, but I believe that if you want to increase the chances of completing a goal that you've set for yourself, you have to be able to stay consistent towards reaching it. When something seems impossible, or becomes insurmountable, the likelihood of quitting increases in my opinion. I once heard the great boxer Mike Tyson say that; "It all comes down to dedication and consistency." You have to be able to have the mindset of viewing goal setting as more of the steady stride mindset that I referred to in the running example. It's all about the long game, and you have to be able to not allow yourself to get too high or too low when it comes to anything that you're trying to achieve. As with pretty much anything in life, a balanced approach is required in order to maintain a proper handle on things. So for all of you that are goal setting to kick off this new year, define what your goals are first and foremost. Secondly, gauge the amount of time you think it will take to reach them. Finally, pace yourself towards those goals, and maintain a steady stride along the path. I believe that if we do these things and not cut any corners along the way, we will have no problem reaching our goals.

Well that's how we're going to kick off the year 2020 here on 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that this was a topic that was helpful to some of you there. I also hope that there was some meaning and understanding that could be taken away from it. Like always, I thank you all that stopped by and read. If you have anything that you'd like to ask or contribute to this topic or any of the previous topics that I've covered, please feel free to leave a comment. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect with me, you can reach me @BradrickH. Well Happy New Year to you all once again. Lets make 2020 one of the greatest and best years of our lives. Take care everyone, and have a great week ahead. See you all on the next one!

The Importance Of Having A Strong Cabinet Around You (Solid People You Can Consult With).

Though cabinets are something that exist within the kitchen and bathrooms of the homes that we live in, they are an item that most people probably rarely think of or pay much attention to. That is unless you're in a profession where you install or paint them, or maybe you're in the field of interior decorating. For most that don't think of or pay close attention to cabinets, you may not care much how they look, but you do count on them to be strong and sturdy right? You know what? Let me stop bluffing here. I'm certain that most of you can deduce that this topic has absolutely nothing to do with the cabinets that exist within homes. While I do hope that you all have strong cabinets within your homes, I'm referring more to another form of cabinet. By now, most of us understand how the government works in regards to positions of leadership. Take a president for example, and this can be a president in any form whether it be government, private sector, etc. Most presidents have a group of advisers that are often referred to as a cabinet. The cabinet is a small group of people that the president often consults with before making important decisions. These are people whom decision making abilities that the president trusts. He also puts trust his cabinet to have his best interests in mind when it comes to the moves and decisions that he plans to execute. If you ask me, being part of a president's cabinet comes with a lot of responsibility. So what does this have to do with us when it comes to our lives you may wonder? Well if you think about it for a second, we are our own president when it comes to our individual lives right? We have to make decisions sometimes, and some of these decisions aren't always easy to make. Often times when we're faced with trying times and decisions that are of importance, we defer to our cabinet. That being said, not all members of your cabinet will have your best interest in mind, which means you have to be able to discern who and who doesn't belong in your cabinet.

Hey, what's going on everyone. This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to present you all with another topic that I think could serve as some inspiration to us all. This is just all about me giving my own personal perspective on the things that I think of and encounter on a frequent basis. For all of you that are frequent visitors, thank you for joining me once again. For those that may be visiting here for the first time, I'm glad to have you stop through, and I hope that this won't be your last visit here. Christmas is only a couple of days away, so this will officially be the last post on this site for the year. I'd like to go ahead and wish everyone a Merry Christmas in advance. So for my soapbox this week, I'm not going to talk about anything sports related or anything in the news. Since this will be the last topic that I cover for 2018, I'd like to reflect a bit on this year. I think a lot of people like to reflect on the year before we head into a new one. For me personally, 2018 was a year that was filled with highs and lows. I'm sure most of you can relate to that. It started out really well the first few months. I got to experience a few things that I had been wanting to for awhile, and my birthday back in March was one of the best birthdays that I've had in my life. As the year progressed, things got a bit more challenging. There were some health related issues going on with a family member that I'm close with, and there were some other circumstances surrounding family that somewhat turned my world upside down. Adjusting to change isn't always easy for some people, and I will admit that I'm one that struggles with this. That being said, I think about this post that I came across a couple of months back titled "The 7 Rules of Life." Number 3 on the list was, "Time heals all wounds, give it time." Now I do agree with this, but in saying that, we never know how much time will need to pass in order for us to move on from something. What I can say however is that everyday that we show up and make it through is another day where we've built strength towards moving forward. I know that many of us are in phases of our lives where we're trying to heal or adjust from changes. It can be difficult at times, but we have to keep on showing up. So I just want to encourage anyone that faced any type of adversity this year to know that things can and will improve, but you have to keep showing up. I hope this encourages someone out there. Alright, now lets go ahead and talk about this week's topic of building a solid cabinet.

Now it is time for me to give the standard disclaimer that I give before going more in depth into what we're going to be discussing for this installment. We're all aware by that we're all different and unique individuals in our own right. Our physical features are different, as well as the way that we all think and see the world. Since we're all unique in how we view this world, it isn't feasible to believe that we're always going to agree or see eye-to-eye. The main mission that I have with these topics isn't to focus on right or wrong, but rather to encourage others (and myself) to open our minds up to the possibilities that being open minded can bring. I believe that we all have the capability to inspire others, but I also believe that we all have the knowledge within us to open up the minds of others. As I've stated before, the topics that I write on aren't intended just to one thing only. I just hope that whatever anyone can take from what I discuss is something that is deemed positive and inspirational. So how did I arrive at this particular topic of having a strong cabinet? By now I'm sure that most of you that frequently read my topics are aware that I draw a lot of inspiration from what others say. I was on Youtube last week, and I was listening to a video where a guy was talking about relationships. One of the points that he referenced to was consulting with your cabinet before getting into a relationship with someone. The idea that he was conveying was that if you want to know if someone is right for you, you have to consult with people that you're close to for their advice. Now whether you believe that to be true or not is up to you. My site and the topics of interest that I bring up aren't about relationships, but rather offering inspiration for life in general. Being that this man brought up the importance of having a cabinet in a way that I never considered before, I thought I would attempt to relate it to our lives when it comes having solid people around us. I'm going to try and show why I feel it is important to have a strong cabinet, and how your cabinet says a lot about who we are. So with all of that being said, lets go ahead and get into it.

Now I believe it is safe to say that most of us do indeed have a cabinet around us. I believe that our family members are people that can be a part of our cabinet. Of course we have friends and colleagues that we can consider as a part of our inner circle. The idea of this topic isn't to put emphasis on how to build a cabinet. I believe that by now that most of us already have a cabinet in our corner. The main question is what kind of cabinet that we have in our lives? What kind of people are we associating with? What type of people are we consulting whenever we're in need of assistance? These are the questions that I'm focusing on here, because if we're being totally truthful about the matter, not everyone has a solid cabinet to assist them whenever their in need. Most of us have had people tell us that they're here for us and all of that, but when the time comes when you need them to be there for you, they weren't there. Think of the crisis and decisions in your life as if they are meetings with your cabinet. Now I get that things happen, and there are some circumstances where an individual can't always be there. We can't always hold it against someone when they're not able to be around sometimes. However, I do feel we have the right to hold it against people when they're not being consistent when it comes to being a part of your cabinet. In other words, it's okay if a cabinet member of yours misses a few meetings because they have matters in their own life that they need to prioritize. But if you find yourself in a situation where the lack of times where they're not showing begin to outweigh the meetings they attend, then it is safe to say that the particular member of your cabinet doing this likely needs to be removed or demoted. The thing to remember with a cabinet in any capacity is that it is constantly changing. Some members of your cabinet will stay on for longer periods than others, which means that it is okay if you have to sometimes make changes to your cabinet.

Now that I've established what a cabinet is in regards to dealing with people in our lives, I want to get into why it is important to have a strong cabinet around you. Now as I mentioned earlier, we all have some sort of cabinet around us. Though having a cabinet is important, it is also important to have a cabinet that will shoot straight with you. I mention this because though many of us have a group of people that we may sometimes consult with when it comes to making decisions, some of these people may not always know the best decision that is right for us. Picture the following as an example. We all know that celebrities have their own inner circle that is similar to a cabinet right? Imagine that most of the people in an individual celebrity's cabinet are people that are benefiting from being in this person's cabinet. They probably have access to all the parties, fame, and other things that come along with being around someone famous. Now lets imagine that a person in this celebrity's inner may not necessarily agree with something their celebrity friend is doing, but they also know that saying something to them will likely anger them to the point where they're willing to cut that person out of their inner circle. If the friend to the celebrity only cares about their own life and how they wouldn't want to lose the perks that come along with being around someone famous, they probably aren't going to say anything. However, if they genuinely care about their friend, they will tell them how they really feel, even if it angers them. Now I know none of us are celebs, but the fact of the matter is that some of us have these type of people in our cabinets. One of the nicknames they are often likened to is a "yes man". These are people that are benefiting in some kind of way from being close to you, but care more about how they're able to benefit rather than caring about what is best for you. These are the kind of people that don't need to be in your cabinet. Being a part of someone's cabinet doesn't always mean you're going to see eye-to-eye. What it does mean is that you have people that care about you enough to tell you when something you're doing isn't right.

Continuing on with the importance of having a strong cabinet deals with the fact that we aren't always experienced enough to make certain decisions. What do I mean by this? Simply put, there is a reason why nearly every single one of us have people in our lives that have more experience on certain matters than we do. I believe that one of the reasons why these people are placed in our lives for that purpose. Sometimes another person can see something that you don't get initially, and this is why it is crucial to take into considering what these people think. It doesn't always need to be limited to just one person either. Sometimes it behooves us to get the thoughts and ideas of several people to form a decision. This is why I feel that we all need to have a solid cabinet in our lives. Too many of us have shaky and unreliable people that are a part of our inner circle, and then we wonder why these people aren't never around when we need them. Just like the old saying goes; you are a product of the company that you keep. Even if it may not always be something you may want to hear from others, try and put people in your cabinet that will care about you, but will always keep it real with you when you're wrong or messing up. The only way to learn and grow from our mistakes is to first be aware of them. Sometimes it takes other people to make us aware that the way we're doing things may not always be right. A new year is quickly approaching us, so for everyone that has a shaky group of cabinet members, I want you to rethink and make adjustments to your cabinet if you deem it is necessary. Lets go into the new year with a strong and stable cabinet of individuals that have our best interest at heart, and make an attempt to cut out those that are missing in action when those meetings of life take place. We have to choose our decisions wisely, but we also have to choose wisely the people we put in position to help aid us in those decisions.

Well I think I'll go ahead and end this topic on that note. This has been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' once again brought to you by Brad H. Before closing like always, I hope that there was some meaning and understanding that was able to be taken away from this. I also hope that if anyone has any feedback or comments to add on that you will leave those as well. You can also follow or hit me up on Twitter at the handle @BradrickH. I'd like to once again thank every single person that has read, commenting, and visited my site. I cannot say that enough. I hope that each and every one of you has a very Merry Christmas, and an even happier 2019 ahead. I look forward to interacting with you all next year. Till that time comes, I wish you all the best. See you in 2019! Peace!

The Biggest Battles We Face Often Come From Within (In A Battle With Your Own Mind).

Everyone has enemies right? Growing up during our youth, we would often hear people categorize people as either friends or enemies. We've been taught to believe that an enemy can come in the form of a friend, family member, or someone else that we may have close ties with. We've also been taught that society in general can be our biggest enemy. Everything from money to the government, food, etc have all been deemed as potential enemies to us. While the list of things I mentioned can all be potentially harmful to our lives, there is often a potentially enemy to our lives that we either overlook, or choose not to face at all; ourselves. Yes I did say ourselves, and it's true that we can often be our own worst enemies. If anyone is surprised to hear me say this, please don't be. If we really think about it for a second, we as a society in general have been our own worst enemies for centuries. However, I don't want to focus too much on society, but rather the internal battles that we all face from within. Yes it is indeed true that we will face many forms of battles throughout our lives, but the biggest battles will likely come from within ourselves.

Happy 2017 party people! It is I Brad H. once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to the first 2017 edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! Yes we have arrived at 2017, and I hope that this brand new year has been treating you all great thus far. I'm sure many of you have made resolutions for the new year, and while I personally stopped making them years ago, I don't knock anyone that still does. However, as a reminder, I just want everyone to keep in mind that the changing of a date isn't going to instantly change you as a person. Any changes that you plan on making towards bettering any aspect of your life for this new year won't work unless you commit to it. This means that despite facing any setbacks that may occur in whatever you're hoping to become better towards, you have to remain steadfast and consistent throughout a daily basis. This is something that we all may be aware of, but it never hurts to rehash it again from time to time. Again, I hope 2017 has been going well for you all so far. With that said, lets go ahead and tackle the topic of how the biggest battles that we will face will often come from within.

Normally, I would only use this portion to talk a bit about how this week's topic came to be. However, I want to use it for this moment to address a change that I plan on making to this blog going forward. I still will be updating on an every other week basis, however, I plan to keep the posts a bit shorter going forward. One thing that I've come to realize in the past view years is that many of our attention spans are pretty low, and many people often go the the other direction whenever they encounter something that they see as being too long. I don't feel that my topics were long in general, but I do plan to compact them down a bit more to get straight to the point. I think that would probably work out a little more better for not only potential readers, but also for myself. I feel that I will be able to put out better quality write-ups implementing this tactic going further. Besides that, I plan on keeping the same formula when it comes to any topic that I write on. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I want to say that individual viewpoints will always vary. The mission for me here isn't to focus on what is right or wrong, but rather to encourage more in depth thinking on various subject matters.

Now as I referenced to earlier in the post, a good many of us put a lot of energy into the external battles that we face on a regular basis, but we often fail to give enough energy to the battles we're up against internally. I believe that much of this has to do with so many people being in denial about issues that may be happening in their lives. However, regardless of who you are or where you're at in life, every single one of us are battling something internally. An internal battle can be anything that may be troubling us or hindering us from finding that peace within that we're constantly striving for, and I feel that there is no shame in admitting to having an issue or issues in life. Think about all the celebrities, athletes, and people with a certain degree of status that have struggled with addiction. These are individuals that many people deem as having everything that life has to offer, but they still had internal battles that they tried masking with their addictions. Masking our issues isn't only limited to people of status, but it is something that so many of us choose to do rather than addressing whatever issues we're facing. It's similar to putting a band-aid on a wound; it only hides the bigger issue at hand.

Life in general is probably the toughest test that we will ever face, however from my perspective on this topic, the finding of the necessary motivation and willpower from within to pass on daily basis can be even harder. There is so much temptation and negative forces in the world that are constantly working against us daily. However, from my perspective, the reason many of us struggle with these things is due to not properly training our minds to overcome these things. Too much emphasis on being entertained and engaging in activities that don't really help in bettering us as people often takes precedent over the addressing of our internal issues. Just like anything else in life, it is important to prioritize things, and there are so many of us don't make ourselves a priority when it comes to facing the battles that are happening within. This is something that we have to work on changing right? Nobody is perfect, and it is indeed true that we will all fall short every so often. But, the idea of potentially falling short doesn't mean that we shouldn't address the issues that we may be internally facing.

So with everything being said, I think we as people should address and focus on the battles that we're dealing with internally. I'm not saying that we should ignore the outside factors that may be enemies to us, but what I am saying is that everything starts within you first. Being able to equip our minds first to handle the things that life may throw at us should be the first priority. I was watching a video on Youtube by actor Terry Crews yesterday, and he said something in the video that I wanted to make sure and put in this post. He said; "We don't battle people, we battle mindsets. You battle mindsets that attempt to hold people back, that's what I'm battling. I don't battle people, I battle the way people think." I'm glad that I happened to come across those words, because they speak to the idea that while other people and outside forces may be an enemy, it's not them that you're battling. The real battle comes from the ability to adapt to whatever comes at us. It's all about training and strengthening the mind, and then being able to change that mindset for the better.

Well we've come to the end of this particular topic, so I'd like to once again thank everyone that came through for another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. Whether you made any resolutions for the new year or not, lets try to make 2017 a great year everyone. I'm sure some of you out there are sport fans, so like many of you out there, I'm excited for the NFL playoffs that kick off tomorrow. My team (Cowboys) have a first round bye, so they won't be playing tomorrow. However, I will be tuned in anyway because I love watching football, but also to find out who they will be playing. Alright everyone, I'm out so I'll see you all in the next post. Until then, I wish you all a Happy New Year, as well as peace and positive thoughts.

Generalizations: Why are you letting them bother you?

Hey what's up people? It's ya man Brad H. coming back at you once again. I know I've kinda been on a near two month hiatus, and I apologize for that. The writing slowed down quite a bit during the holidays, and that's the main reason for the extended absence. The good thing is that it's a new year, which means a fresh start for many of us. Anyone that knows me pretty well knows that making New Year resolutions isn't my thing anymore. However, I'm making a personal goal to keep this blog updated with more frequency. Besides all of that, I wanna begin by wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2013. Hopefully 2013 will be the best year of our lives. Now it's time to get into this weeks topic. It deals with generalizations.

Many people already know and understand what the word "generalization" means. However, I took the liberty to find a definition that defined what the word means to me personally. The definition I found defines it as; "an idea or conclusion having a general application". The words that really stick out to me in that definition are 'idea', and 'conclusion'. We're already aware that the world is full of various generalizations. Truthfully, nothing is limited when it comes to being generalized, or put into a single category. When I personally think of being generalized, I think of a person, a group of people, or anything that is put into a single category. For example, one of the most popular generalizations is the statement "all men are dogs". When I think of how generalizations are perceived, I basically think of seeing or viewing things or people through a narrow tunnel vision. We're all guilty of forming generalizations. Anyone who says otherwise is most likely naive. Everyone does it from time to time. I've noticed that many generalizations tend to rile up some people. This is especially true when it comes to relationships, race relations, etc.

It's okay to voice our dislikes when it comes to certain generalized statements by people. However, we all know that none of us can stop people from forming opinions about us, what we're doing, or a group of people we associate ourselves with. The unfortunate thing is that some people take generalizations from others so personally, when they really shouldn't. If a statement that is generalized doesn't apply to you personally, why are you allowing it to bother you or bring you out of your character? I see so many people getting angry and defending generalized statements, when they don't even apply to them personally. It's somewhat of a lost cause when you think about it. You're basically getting yourself worked up over nothing, and something that you quite frankly can't control.

I'm one of those people that believes that guilty people are the ones who let what others say bother them. The bottom line is that if something doesn't apply to you personally, don't worry about or sweat it. Just sit back, and let all of these other "know it alls" go back and forth arguing over topics that can be generalized. Besides, nobody knows you better than you know yourself. Therefore, what others say shouldn't hold a lot of weight on you anyway.

Well that's it for the New Years edition of "Brad H's Perspective". Hopefully this will be the first of many money topics for 2013. Don't let the generalized opinions of the many affect you personally. Way more important things to entertain than that. Till next time, peace, love, and blessings.

Consistency is the key.

Hello once again. It's ya man Brad H. coming back at you once again. I hope all is good and well with anyone who reads this post. It's been awhile since I've updated my blog. I hope the New Year is going well for you all thus far. As for me my, year is going pretty well up to this point. As you may already know, I'm preparing for the 5k race that I'm planning on running in March. I've had a few setbacks with my training towards that venture. However, I'm happy to say that I was able to go running earlier this evening, and I felt really good during the run. I'll continue to keep you updated on my training and the race in general.

Tonight I wanna discuss something that I've been thinking about lately, that is the word "consistency". It's a word that many of us are familiar with, but we don't always apply it to our lives. Many of us set goals for ourselves that go wayside due to inconsistency. It's like one day we wake up ready to attack whatever life has to offer, but a day or two later we fall back into a relaxed state of doing nothing. It's very important to be consistent in whatever we are interested in. Ask yourself this question. If you were trying to reach a goal that you set for yourself, would you rather go hard at it a few days and slack off a few days? Or, would you rather take small daily steps? Kinda like pacing yourself and slowly chipping away until you reach it? That's something to think about right?

We all have different ways and method of doing things. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. It's important to remain consistent at whatever it is you do or want to achieve in life. We all know that it's never good to overdo things, but we shouldn't let that be a crutch for us. Lets work towards being consistent. Whether it's at work, a hobby, or just being an all around person. Remember it's better to be good 98 time out of 100 rather than 2 or 3 times. Those are the words I leave you with. Well that's it for this time. Again, I hope everything is having a great year so far, and I'll be back soon. Till then peace, love and blessings. Later.

Complaining solves nothing.

Hey what's up? Its ya boy Brad H one again. Hope everyone is doing good this time around. Hope that so far you are having a great and happy new year also. Hopefully everyone who has made new year resolutions have been sticking with them so far. I know I haven't lol. I have a couple of questions to ask this time around. Why do people think that complaining is a solution to a problem? Do you ever get tired of hearing people complain all the time? Are there people around you that complain constantly? I think of these questions because I see and hear people complain constantly about the smallest of things. I know its not my place to say whether or not a problem is small, but some of these people complaining have it good compared to other people. The fact of the matter is that complaining solves nothing. The time and energy that goes into complaining can be used for other activities. It can even be used to help solve whatever problems or issues you are dealing with in your life. I know that we all complain about things from time to time, but I challenge whoever reads this to make more of an effort to stop complaining. It doesn't look cute, and all it does is annoy the people that have to hear it constantly. Lets start being more appreciative of our lives and the things we do have, instead of focusing on what we don't have. Not to sound like a religious freak or anything, but I love the saying "Let it go and give it to God". If you can't change something, don't worry or complain about it. Well that is all I wanted to say this time around. Its been on my mind for awhile, and I thought it was time to write it down and get my thoughts out there. Hope all is well with everyone, and hope everyone is having a safe and prosperous new year. Take care everyone, peace.
