Whew! I think that most of us can admit that the year 2020 has been a year of adjustment. I would go so far and say that the world has truly endured more in this short amount of time than we normally have to deal with in an entire year. What we have to consider even more is that we're only a little over halfway through this year, which makes me wonder what else is going to happen that makes us have to adjust. I'm one of those people that believe in general that we as humans are adaptable when it comes to change. Of course it's not always easy, and there are some of us out here in the world that struggle with change. I've been thinking a lot as of late about the state of affairs in this world. One of the biggest conclusions that I've come to in regards to the standing of the world today is that this is one of the few periods that I can remember where people are on the same accord. The current pandemic that we're in is something that is affecting everyone on some level or another. It isn't like one of those events that happen in a certain area and only affects a certain group of people. This is a situation that has forced everyone to pretty much have to make adjustments to their way of living. Another thing that I have been considering is how humility is a character trait that so many of us are lacking in. There are various reasons why I feel that way, and I will get into that later on in this topic. Because this is one of those few times in our lifetime that the world has to pretty much follow a single plan to fight against this pandemic that we're in, I believe that these times call for us to maintain a sense of humility.
Hey, what's going on once more good people? This is your boy Brad H. back in the mix for another week of an installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to hopefully bring another topic that can serve as some inspiration for us during these times we're in. I hope that everyone has been taking good care of yourselves and staying safe since the last topic. So for my topic of interest for my soapbox this week, I'm going to continue with the theme of sports. About a month ago on my soapbox section I brought up sports and how they are being handled during the pandemic that we're currently in. As most of you are aware of, major league baseball started their shortened season last week. Those of you that are baseball fans right along with me know how long we've waited to see the sport back despite the season being shorter than normal. Well there have already been players that have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and we weren't even a full week into the season before it happened. Now I believe that for in order for things in our society to function as normal as possible under the circumstances that we're in, there has to be a plan of action that protects the players. So far it seems that the NBA and NHL are the only two leagues that have come up with a reasonable plan to protect their brand to the best of their abilities. That does not appear to be the case with the MLB, nor the NFL at the moment. I know I may sound like a broken record at this point by repeating this, but as much as we may love sports, public health crises such as the one we're in now should come first. I really hope that no other baseball players test positive for the virus and we're able to see this unique season play out. However, with what the MLB is putting out in regards to safety, it is hard for me to be positive about it. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk about the importance of remaining humble during these days.
So as with nearly every topic that can be viewed in various ways, there is not a single way to define what it means to be humble. In addressing this topic, I'm only giving my own personal perspective of what I believe it means to be a humble person. There really isn't a right or wrong way to define this, so look at it as something as you would like to define for yourself. That being said, I think that most of us have a general idea of the qualities that entail a level of humility. Now when I personally think of what it means to be a humble individual, the immediate thought that comes my mind is "normal". Why do I think of the word "natural", you may wonder? The reason I think of this is because I personally believe that humility is something that should come natural to us. Now for some it may come natural, but at some point or another they may lose sight of that. Despite that, humility is something that should be inherently in us considering that none of us are special to the point where none of us have to die someday. I'm not implying that no one isn't special because of a talent or gift you may have. Everyone is special and unique in their own way when it comes to life in general. I'm not diminishing that at all. I'm simply saying that we are all made of flesh and bones, and we all will eventually have to physically leave this world someday.
Now I brought up in the opening how this is one of the few times that I can recall in my lifetime where the world is pretty much on one accord. Although most countries have opened back up since the pandemic began to spread so rapidly throughout the many corners of this planet, nearly every single country that exists has had to have some form of lock down or quarantine happen. Because of these out-of-the-ordinary circumstances that the virus has forced us into, there are certain luxuries that we're accustomed to having that have been taken away. It is almost a reminder of the fact that we have very little control, or at least not as much control as we may think. Also, when you think of people that are used to spending a lot of money and doing things like traveling, it's kinda hard to really do those things when there are so many restrictions. When you think of things like this on a deeper level, you come to realize that regardless of economic status and things of that nature do not really matter as much as we'd like to think. Now there may be some that disagree with me on this, and that is totally okay. I'm just giving my own perspective on how I see things during the state of this world now.
So we have ultimately arrived at the reason why it is of importance for us to remain humble during these trying times we're in. There are a variety of reasons as to why a person may not have a sense of humility about them. What I do know is that we have lost a lot of people this year. The pandemic has played a big part in this happening. I also know that none of us have any total control of what is going on in regards to how this virus affects us. Sure the the average person that contracts the virus is going to be okay, but think about all of the people so far that didn't make it through. The reason why it is so important for us to remain humble in these days is because this is a period of life that brings so much uncertainty. Life without the pandemic going on is uncertain, but when you take something like what's going on now and add it to an already tough and stressful way of living, it creates a situation where you really don't know what's going to happen daily. Regardless of who you are or what you may have, there are some things in life that you just can't control. I believe that in order to maintain and cope in this life, you have to have a humble spirit and know that no one is above what's happening. I believe that we are truly in a world that is transitoning. Those that adapt along with the changes are going to be the ones that give themselves the best opportunity to survive.
Well that is the topic for this week everyone! Thank you once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H's Perspective'! I hope that this was a topic that all of you was able to relate to. I also hope that I was able to present it in a way that was understandable. Personal Growth Should Be A Never Ending Process.
Every now and again throughout this life we're living, we hear about the importance of self-improvement and personal growth. For some people ,these terms primarily apply to the youth and younger generation of the world that have yet to achieve their full potential. While I may personally disagree to some extent with the notion that it only applies to the youth, there is indeed some truth to the importance of why personal growth should focus on the youth. At the same time, I do believe that regardless of how old or wise we may feel we are, there is always room for improvement when it comes to ourselves. From my perspective, personal growth should be a never ending process.
What is good folks? Welcome to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. As I seem to mention quite often in previous posts, it has definitely been a hot minute since I touched down with something recent on here. I believe it has been around four months since my last post. FOUR MONTHS! I won't get into making any kind of excuses for the long absence, but I will say that regardless of how I may go in between posts, you can always be assured that I've been brainstorming and soaking up as much knowledge as I can. For those of you that are regular readers, I truly appreciate your patience and loyalty.
Before I get into this topic that I've been thinking about as of late, I want to give some credit to my younger sister for inspiring me to write this. I had a conversation with her recently and during that conversation, she asked me if I was still writing blogs. I told her that it had been awhile since I had written one, and she proceeded to tell me that she personally finds writing to be therapeutic. I'm already aware of the benefits of writing, but my sister's words gave me an added bit of motivation. Although it has been on my mind to write about various topics on here within the past few months, I allowed other priorities to take over the lead. Now with all of that said, I want to thank my sister for the inspiration, and I also want to acknowledge that she is definitely right about writing being a form of therapy.
So for this time around, I'll be talking about why I see personal growth as a never ending process. Now there are many people that equate their level of wisdom solely to their age. These are the people that feel as if they're wiser than maybe someone younger than they are, primarily because the number of years they've been on this Earth may outnumber someone else. I do feel that there is some validity in someone older thinking this way, however, I also feel that the wisdom varies from person to person. Ever heard the saying that some people only get older in age, but not in mind? If you really consider it, wisdom is purely subjective to what a person has learned and experienced in this life, and while age can play a big factor, it's definitely not the sole determinant of how wise a person may be.
Some of you may wonder what this has to do with the topic at hand. Well, I brought up that point to state that there are many people that feel that because they've reached a certain peak within their lives, there isn't much more they can learn. This thinking especially shows for these people when it comes to them learning from others. I can say this without a doubt, because there have been times that I was one of those hard-headed stubborn individuals that carried the same narrow minded mindset. You see, a certain level of humility in a person is required in order to accept that no matter how much we may think we know, there is always something new that can be learned and applied to our lives. The biggest problem with this is that society has conditioned us that displaying a level of humility is a form of weakness, which is far from the truth in my opinion.
From my perspective, a person that displays a certain level of humility is a true staple of what being strong is. An individual that displays enough humility is strong enough to acknowledge that regardless of age and accomplishments, there is always room for personal growth. In the early 90's former professional basketball player Michael Jordan reached what many considered his peak when he helped carry the Chicago Bulls to three straight NBA championships. Do you really think that Michael would've come back and won 3 more titles in his 30's if he didn't feel that he could grow as a player? I highly doubt it. It's not my place to tell anyone else what to do, but if you're a person that feels that you're too big to take advice from others, then you're likely hindering your personal growth. There are various levels that come to mastering certain aspects of life. If you've managed to reach your peak in one area of your life, look for other flaws and areas of your life that can be worked on. Believe me when I say that there is always room for improvement. Personal growth is a process that should be applied every day, and it's not a process that producers results overnight. Always keep in mind that when a person stops looking for ways to grow and improve, that person that has likely stopped truly living. That's just my opinion.
I think I pretty much gotten the gist of what I wanted to get across out there, so I'm going to go ahead and bring this to an end. I hope there is some meaning and understanding to be gained from this post. Like always, I appreciate those of you that take out the time to stop by. This has been another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. I'll see you all in the next post. Peace!

Stop Analyzing Others As If You're Perfect. (People Just Aren't Humble Anymore).
Alright, alright, alright. It's good to to be back writing again on this blog. So this time around, I'm going to be discussing people that carry on like they're perfect, or seldom make any mistakes. These are the same people that always have some type of opinions(often negative) about what others are doing. They make a habit of talking down on others, or analyzing what the next person is or isn't doing. They tend to focus more on others, rather than wanting to fix and improve their own lives. Wait a sec; Oh that's right. Most people that think this way don't feel that their lives need improving. They have everything figured out, so that gives them a pass to belittle others. I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally find people like this to be arrogant. Let me explain why.
Last time I checked, everyone alive is a human-being right? We as humans are naturally flawed individuals. No single person is perfect no matter how much they believe they are in their minds. We each have different traits and attributes that we are skilled and talented at. Some things come natural for some people, while others have to put effort and work into learning and becoming better at. However, it appears to me that a lot of people think they know and have it all figured out to the point where they can pass judgement on others. Now I don't have a problem with people having their own opinion, and honestly we all pass judgement on others at various times throughout our lives. However, no one is perfect, which means that no single person in any place to to pass judgement on others without taking a look at their own lives first. Some people are so arrogant that they believe they're perfect, which in their heads give them the right criticize others. In my viewpoint, this is all messed up.
As I get older, I'm learning that old statement "damned if you do, damned if you don't" is very true. No matter what a person does in this world whether it's for the better or worse, there are always going to be people that have something negative to say. That's one of the reasons why it's important to not worry about or dwell on what others think of you too much. Since we're all human and flawed, I personally feel that anyone who is arrogant enough to criticize or belittle others should take out the time to examine their own flaws - and work on fixing them as well. Some people may think to themselves, "I don't need to fix anything." Yea right! There is always some area in our lives can be improved. It may vary from person to person, but there is always room for improvement. It's time to step off of that high horse, and keep ourselves more grounded.
So to sum it all up, lets stop tearing down or analyzing others, and start focusing on bettering ourselves. If you're better than someone else in a certain area of life, try helping to make them better instead of talking about them to others. You can help and inspire someone that way, and maybe even feel good about yourself afterward. If you have the time and energy to constantly talk down on others, then I feel you have time to examine yourself. I know that I've said it a lot, but none of us are perfect. Therefore, being humble should be something that should come natural to us. Think about it. Well that's all for this installment of 'Brad H's Perspective'. I really appreciate those of you that take out the time to read and leave feedback. Well till next time, I'm signing off. Take care, and God bless.
