Why It Is Of Even More Importance To Remain Humble During These Days.

Whew! I think that most of us can admit that the year 2020 has been a year of adjustment. I would go so far and say that the world has truly endured more in this short amount of time than we normally have to deal with in an entire year. What we have to consider even more is that we're only a little over halfway through this year, which makes me wonder what else is going to happen that makes us have to adjust. I'm one of those people that believe in general that we as humans are adaptable when it comes to change. Of course it's not always easy, and there are some of us out here in the world that struggle with change. I've been thinking a lot as of late about the state of affairs in this world. One of the biggest conclusions that I've come to in regards to the standing of the world today is that this is one of the few periods that I can remember where people are on the same accord. The current pandemic that we're in is something that is affecting everyone on some level or another. It isn't like one of those events that happen in a certain area and only affects a certain group of people. This is a situation that has forced everyone to pretty much have to make adjustments to their way of living. Another thing that I have been considering is how humility is a character trait that so many of us are lacking in. There are various reasons why I feel that way, and I will get into that later on in this topic. Because this is one of those few times in our lifetime that the world has to pretty much follow a single plan to fight against this pandemic that we're in, I believe that these times call for us to maintain a sense of humility.

Hey, what's going on once more good people? This is your boy Brad H. back in the mix for another week of an installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to hopefully bring another topic that can serve as some inspiration for us during these times we're in. I hope that everyone has been taking good care of yourselves and staying safe since the last topic. So for my topic of interest for my soapbox this week, I'm going to continue with the theme of sports. About a month ago on my soapbox section I brought up sports and how they are being handled during the pandemic that we're currently in. As most of you are aware of, major league baseball started their shortened season last week. Those of you that are baseball fans right along with me know how long we've waited to see the sport back despite the season being shorter than normal. Well there have already been players that have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and we weren't even a full week into the season before it happened. Now I believe that for in order for things in our society to function as normal as possible under the circumstances that we're in, there has to be a plan of action that protects the players. So far it seems that the NBA and NHL are the only two leagues that have come up with a reasonable plan to protect their brand to the best of their abilities. That does not appear to be the case with the MLB, nor the NFL at the moment. I know I may sound like a broken record at this point by repeating this, but as much as we may love sports, public health crises such as the one we're in now should come first. I really hope that no other baseball players test positive for the virus and we're able to see this unique season play out. However, with what the MLB is putting out in regards to safety, it is hard for me to be positive about it. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk about the importance of remaining humble during these days.

So as with nearly every topic that can be viewed in various ways, there is not a single way to define what it means to be humble. In addressing this topic, I'm only giving my own personal perspective of what I believe it means to be a humble person. There really isn't a right or wrong way to define this, so look at it as something as you would like to define for yourself. That being said, I think that most of us have a general idea of the qualities that entail a level of humility. Now when I personally think of what it means to be a humble individual, the immediate thought that comes my mind is "normal". Why do I think of the word "natural", you may wonder? The reason I think of this is because I personally believe that humility is something that should come natural to us. Now for some it may come natural, but at some point or another they may lose sight of that. Despite that, humility is something that should be inherently in us considering that none of us are special to the point where none of us have to die someday. I'm not implying that no one isn't special because of a talent or gift you may have. Everyone is special and unique in their own way when it comes to life in general. I'm not diminishing that at all. I'm simply saying that we are all made of flesh and bones, and we all will eventually have to physically leave this world someday.

Now I brought up in the opening how this is one of the few times that I can recall in my lifetime where the world is pretty much on one accord. Although most countries have opened back up since the pandemic began to spread so rapidly throughout the many corners of this planet, nearly every single country that exists has had to have some form of lock down or quarantine happen. Because of these out-of-the-ordinary circumstances that the virus has forced us into, there are certain luxuries that we're accustomed to having that have been taken away. It is almost a reminder of the fact that we have very little control, or at least not as much control as we may think. Also, when you think of people that are used to spending a lot of money and doing things like traveling, it's kinda hard to really do those things when there are so many restrictions. When you think of things like this on a deeper level, you come to realize that regardless of economic status and things of that nature do not really matter as much as we'd like to think. Now there may be some that disagree with me on this, and that is totally okay. I'm just giving my own perspective on how I see things during the state of this world now.

So we have ultimately arrived at the reason why it is of importance for us to remain humble during these trying times we're in. There are a variety of reasons as to why a person may not have a sense of humility about them. What I do know is that we have lost a lot of people this year. The pandemic has played a big part in this happening. I also know that none of us have any total control of what is going on in regards to how this virus affects us. Sure the the average person that contracts the virus is going to be okay, but think about all of the people so far that didn't make it through. The reason why it is so important for us to remain humble in these days is because this is a period of life that brings so much uncertainty. Life without the pandemic going on is uncertain, but when you take something like what's going on now and add it to an already tough and stressful way of living, it creates a situation where you really don't know what's going to happen daily. Regardless of who you are or what you may have, there are some things in life that you just can't control. I believe that in order to maintain and cope in this life, you have to have a humble spirit and know that no one is above what's happening. I believe that we are truly in a world that is transitoning. Those that adapt along with the changes are going to be the ones that give themselves the best opportunity to survive.

Well that is the topic for this week everyone! Thank you once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H's Perspective'! I hope that this was a topic that all of you was able to relate to. I also hope that I was able to present it in a way that was understandable. If any of you have anything to contribute to this topic, please feel free to do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect, you can follow me @BradrickH.
