Why Excessive Neediness Is Counterproductive.

Regardless of how independent or strong that a person is or may claim to be, there is no denying the fact that we all need other people at various times throughout our lives. We as human-beings are relational beings, and the idea of navigating through life without help from others is something that I would think is nearly impossible. Now there is a famous saying that we've all heard throughout our lives that pretty much aligns with the idea that much of life is about having balance. The famous quote that I'm referring to that we've all heard says that "too much of anything is bad for you." Yep, that is the quote folks, and I know that you all have probably heard it before. Anything that is done in excess can pretty much be bad for our lives if not managed properly. I'm sure that there are many people that would argue that this doesn't apply when it comes to needing others, and I get that point since we need other at various points of life. However, I believe that just as with anything else in life, you can be too needy when it comes to the people in your life. People that are overly clingy often times think that they are helping themselves by being this way, but I believe that excessive neediness can be counterproductive to what you're trying to accomplish.

What's up everybody? This is Brad H. back one again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am back on here to bring my perspective on a topic that has been on my mind as of late in hopes that it can serve as some inspiration for us all. Thank you to those of you that are joining me. This is the soapbox section where I talk about something that isn't related to the topic at hand. This week I'm going to get a bit personal with you all. If you are a frequent reader of this blog, you may have noticed that I didn't post last week when I was supposed to. I have schedule of posting every other week, and last week as my week to do so. Unfortunately I had to evacuate for Hurricane Laura that struck the Gulf Coast last week. Since being back home, there has been power outages happening in my area, as well as other things that have needed attending. I just want to apologize to those of you that are accustomed to be posting when I normally do. I have truly felt bad about it because in the past four years I have yet to miss a scheduled post. Times like this are a reminder of how unpredictable life can be, and that there are sometimes when more pressing matters have to take precedence. At any rate, I thank those of you that have checked up on me via Twitter. Hopefully now there can be some semblance of normalcy going forward. So now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets go ahead and talk about why neediness can be counterproductive.

Now before we get more deeper into this week's topic, I want to start off by letting it be known that I'm in no way aiming to shame or demean anyone that is excessively needy. Like I stated in the opening of this topic, we are all needy people to an extent, and there are some people in this world that truly have to rely on others because they have no other choice. The people that I'm seeking to encourage with topic are those that may be needy when situations may not always necessarily call for it. For example, we all know that this world has people that are disabled or elderly. People that may fit in this category may understandably be excessively needy. On the flip side, we have people that may make a conscious choice to be needy in order to manipulate others for their own personal benefit. These type of people are the ones that may have an extreme fear of losing someone that they care for to the point where they become overly clingy. Now people that are needy don't always do it for reasons of manipulation. Some people just cling to people and have a deep fear of losing them. Though they may mean well by being this way, being like this over a long period of time can lead to problems within your relationships?

Now I brought up in the opening how too much of anything can be bad, right? It is entirely possible that a person can love or care too much for someone else. Picture this scenario here. Imagine that you have a friendship with someone that always relies on you when they are having an issue. It isn't a friendship where they need you occasionally, but every single time something is going on with them, they're looking for you. You can be the most patient and understanding person in the world, but someone like this can being to wear you down when it becomes a constant thing. Now the person that is constantly needing you may feel like you are all they have, and that may even be true depending on the circumstances that surround this particular friend. However, there will likely come a time where you may not be able to be there for that friend, and depending on how this particular friend reacts to that instance, it can have a negative strain on that friendship. Though we may not always like to admit to it, there often times comes a point where people get fed up.

We're now at the point of this week's topic of getting to the grit of why excessive neediness can be counterproductive. As I alluded to earlier in the topic, being needy and clingy are symptoms of a fear of losing someone or something. It isn't wise to live this way, especially when you consider that we have little control over whether or not a person will always be in our lives. More importantly to consider is the fact that sometimes people get fed up when they feel that a person is being overly needy towards them. This can in some instances make the person you're being needy towards rebel against you due to feeling smothered. So in essence, the idea of thinking that neediness is a way of showing that you care is counterproductive because doing this excessively can lead to you losing what you're afraid to lose anyway. As I touched on several times throughout this topic, we have to have balance in our relationships with others. You have to give people space and learn how to figure out some things on your own at times. Again, we're all needy people at times, and that is quite normal. Just try to keep it to a minimum and you're able to, and most importantly remember that balance is the key.

Well that is about it for this week's topic on why I believe that excessive neediness is a counterproductive practice. I hope that I was able to bring a perspective that everyone that reads this is able to relate to. If any of you have any comments or feedback that you'd like to add to this, feel free to do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect, you can find me at the handle @BradrickH. This has been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' brought to you by Brad H. Thank you once again to those of you that checked out this week's topic. I'll see you all on the next topic. Have a great week ahead and peace out!

Remember What You Are Fighting For.

There was what I think was a very underrated film that came out in the year 2008 titled "Never Back Down". This was an action flick that was pretty much made during the beginning of the MMA buzz that was popular during that time period. There is a memorable quote from that movie that was made by a character named Jean Roqua. The quote was directed towards the main character in the movie and goes: "It's not just you, everyone has their fight." Now of course this was a movie about combat, so the context of what Roqua meant differs in the type of fighting that we're talking about in the context of the topic for this week. However, what I do love about this quote is that despite it being used towards the aspect of combat when it comes to the movie, it can also be applied to all of us in our daily lives. Every single one of us is in some form of a fight on a daily basis. Some people are fighting to literally stay alive on a day-to-day basis. There are others that may be fighting to conquer some type of addiction in their lives. Right now, there are people fighting with the task of coming up with the proper way to get back to some type of normalcy in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic that our world is in. You see, there are various forms and iterations when it comes to fighting in this life. Furthermore, every single fight that a person undertakes in has to have a reason for going to battle. Often times the reasons as to why we fight daily are what drives us to keep on going. For this reason, it is of great importance to always remember what you are fighting for.

Hello once again everyone! This is Brad H. back again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am back to give my perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful towards us moving forward in our lives. Thank you to those of you that are tuning in again. So for my soapbox this week, I'm going to talk about the unusual NBA bubble that those of us that are basketball fans have been watching for the last couple of weeks. We saw an exciting game this evening between Portland and Memphis that determined the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Portland was victorious in this game, so they will be taking on the Lakers in the first round. I'm not going to get into my picks on who I think are going to win this week, but I want to say that I have been impressed with how the NBA has navigated through the pandemic in order to attempt to finish their season. After two weeks into the season restart, there have been zero Covid-19 cases. Now of course that could change at any moment, but I give the NBA so much props for how well they've done. It just proves that life can still have some sense of normalcy if there is a plan of action. Both the NBA and NHL bubble formats have proved to be effective so far, and hopefully other organizations (not just sports) take heed. That's pretty much all I have to say about that, so kudos to the NBA. Hopefully the upcoming playoff games will be as interesting as the bubble has been so far. So with that being said, lets go ahead and talk about the importance of remembering what you are fighting for.

Now I talked in the opening about the various ways that can define what it means to be "fighting" for something. The primary theme of this week's topic when it comes to the idea of fighting will mainly deal with accomplishing a specific goal, or a several goals at a time. Now when it comes to accomplishing a particular goal, I think that is something that is up to an individual to decide for themselves. The reason I state this is because I realize that there are many people that view goals in a more carnal mentality. I understand that most people relate the accomplishing of goals to academics and financial related matters, but I also believe that anything that will require a level of commitment towards achieving can be a goal. I also get that not everyone that reads this post will think of the pursuit of a goal as a fight, and those that may think of this topic in that light are well within their right to feel that way. I just personally for myself view it as a fight, and it is no so much a fight with other people, but rather a fight within yourself. One of the main things that led to me to want to discuss this topic is what we would call the "why factor". Anyone that is in the pursuit of something more times than not won't just do it for the sake of doing it, right? There has to be a reason for why their doing it, and this is where the "why factor" comes into play.

The "why factor" is very crucial when it comes to setting a particular goal for yourself. Often times in order for a person to even want to attempt something, there has to be some kind of motivation to do it. I believe that the motivation that is required to move towards a goal is what the "why factor" is all about. The "why factor" can include various forms of motivation, and this is why it is important for an individual to figure out their why. So for example, when we think of a solider that joins their country's military, there can be so many reasons as to why he or she does this. Maybe they want to fight to protect their country, or maybe they want to challenge themselves. It could be a combiation of both. If you consider someone that may be an addict when it comes to their vices, maybe their spouse and kids are their why for wanting to get their life under control. There are so many examples that we can use, but one thing that must always be considered is that most goals that require an extended amount of time to complete will eventually wear you down to the point where you're ready to quit. Sometimes all it takes to keep from quitting on something or someone is being mindful of what you're fighting for. So we have established how fighting can relate to a variety of circumstances.

We've talked about the "why factor" and it relates to motivation. We have also talked about how a person can reach the point of wanting to quit if they've been fighting for an extended amount of time. So why is it of importance for a person to remember what they're fighting for? From my perspective, you have to have something or someone to keep you in the fight. One of the lessons that I've throughout my life is that the majority of why a person aims to do anything will often come from something outside of themselves. It will usually come from people that you care for in your life. We all have people in our lives that we don't want to fail or letdown. These are the people that you have to always be mindful of when you're aiming to reach something. Most of the fights that we encounter in our lives will be bigger than ourselves. Now that's not to say that you can't or shouldn't fight for yourself. Of course there are going to be fights in your where it all comes down to you and doing what is best for you. Even during these situations, you have to still have a why for wanting keep on fighting. So with all that being said, search within yourself and find your why. Also, remember to keep on fighting, and always keep in mind what you are fighting for.

So that about does it for this week's topic everyone. I hope that I was able to present the importance of remembering what you're fighting for in a way that made sense for anyone that read. I also want to thank everyone that stopped by to read another topic on 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I really do appreciate every single one of you that has. As always, if any of you have any comments or feedback to contribute, please do so in the comment section. If you are on Twitter and would like to connect with me, you can find me @BradrickH. I'm signing off for now, so I hope you all are having a great weekend so far. I also hope that you all have an even better week ahead. Take care everyone, and I'll get up with you all on the next topic. Peace out!

Why It Is Of Even More Importance To Remain Humble During These Days.

Whew! I think that most of us can admit that the year 2020 has been a year of adjustment. I would go so far and say that the world has truly endured more in this short amount of time than we normally have to deal with in an entire year. What we have to consider even more is that we're only a little over halfway through this year, which makes me wonder what else is going to happen that makes us have to adjust. I'm one of those people that believe in general that we as humans are adaptable when it comes to change. Of course it's not always easy, and there are some of us out here in the world that struggle with change. I've been thinking a lot as of late about the state of affairs in this world. One of the biggest conclusions that I've come to in regards to the standing of the world today is that this is one of the few periods that I can remember where people are on the same accord. The current pandemic that we're in is something that is affecting everyone on some level or another. It isn't like one of those events that happen in a certain area and only affects a certain group of people. This is a situation that has forced everyone to pretty much have to make adjustments to their way of living. Another thing that I have been considering is how humility is a character trait that so many of us are lacking in. There are various reasons why I feel that way, and I will get into that later on in this topic. Because this is one of those few times in our lifetime that the world has to pretty much follow a single plan to fight against this pandemic that we're in, I believe that these times call for us to maintain a sense of humility.

Hey, what's going on once more good people? This is your boy Brad H. back in the mix for another week of an installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to hopefully bring another topic that can serve as some inspiration for us during these times we're in. I hope that everyone has been taking good care of yourselves and staying safe since the last topic. So for my topic of interest for my soapbox this week, I'm going to continue with the theme of sports. About a month ago on my soapbox section I brought up sports and how they are being handled during the pandemic that we're currently in. As most of you are aware of, major league baseball started their shortened season last week. Those of you that are baseball fans right along with me know how long we've waited to see the sport back despite the season being shorter than normal. Well there have already been players that have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and we weren't even a full week into the season before it happened. Now I believe that for in order for things in our society to function as normal as possible under the circumstances that we're in, there has to be a plan of action that protects the players. So far it seems that the NBA and NHL are the only two leagues that have come up with a reasonable plan to protect their brand to the best of their abilities. That does not appear to be the case with the MLB, nor the NFL at the moment. I know I may sound like a broken record at this point by repeating this, but as much as we may love sports, public health crises such as the one we're in now should come first. I really hope that no other baseball players test positive for the virus and we're able to see this unique season play out. However, with what the MLB is putting out in regards to safety, it is hard for me to be positive about it. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk about the importance of remaining humble during these days.

So as with nearly every topic that can be viewed in various ways, there is not a single way to define what it means to be humble. In addressing this topic, I'm only giving my own personal perspective of what I believe it means to be a humble person. There really isn't a right or wrong way to define this, so look at it as something as you would like to define for yourself. That being said, I think that most of us have a general idea of the qualities that entail a level of humility. Now when I personally think of what it means to be a humble individual, the immediate thought that comes my mind is "normal". Why do I think of the word "natural", you may wonder? The reason I think of this is because I personally believe that humility is something that should come natural to us. Now for some it may come natural, but at some point or another they may lose sight of that. Despite that, humility is something that should be inherently in us considering that none of us are special to the point where none of us have to die someday. I'm not implying that no one isn't special because of a talent or gift you may have. Everyone is special and unique in their own way when it comes to life in general. I'm not diminishing that at all. I'm simply saying that we are all made of flesh and bones, and we all will eventually have to physically leave this world someday.

Now I brought up in the opening how this is one of the few times that I can recall in my lifetime where the world is pretty much on one accord. Although most countries have opened back up since the pandemic began to spread so rapidly throughout the many corners of this planet, nearly every single country that exists has had to have some form of lock down or quarantine happen. Because of these out-of-the-ordinary circumstances that the virus has forced us into, there are certain luxuries that we're accustomed to having that have been taken away. It is almost a reminder of the fact that we have very little control, or at least not as much control as we may think. Also, when you think of people that are used to spending a lot of money and doing things like traveling, it's kinda hard to really do those things when there are so many restrictions. When you think of things like this on a deeper level, you come to realize that regardless of economic status and things of that nature do not really matter as much as we'd like to think. Now there may be some that disagree with me on this, and that is totally okay. I'm just giving my own perspective on how I see things during the state of this world now.

So we have ultimately arrived at the reason why it is of importance for us to remain humble during these trying times we're in. There are a variety of reasons as to why a person may not have a sense of humility about them. What I do know is that we have lost a lot of people this year. The pandemic has played a big part in this happening. I also know that none of us have any total control of what is going on in regards to how this virus affects us. Sure the the average person that contracts the virus is going to be okay, but think about all of the people so far that didn't make it through. The reason why it is so important for us to remain humble in these days is because this is a period of life that brings so much uncertainty. Life without the pandemic going on is uncertain, but when you take something like what's going on now and add it to an already tough and stressful way of living, it creates a situation where you really don't know what's going to happen daily. Regardless of who you are or what you may have, there are some things in life that you just can't control. I believe that in order to maintain and cope in this life, you have to have a humble spirit and know that no one is above what's happening. I believe that we are truly in a world that is transitoning. Those that adapt along with the changes are going to be the ones that give themselves the best opportunity to survive.

Well that is the topic for this week everyone! Thank you once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H's Perspective'! I hope that this was a topic that all of you was able to relate to. I also hope that I was able to present it in a way that was understandable. If any of you have anything to contribute to this topic, please feel free to do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect, you can follow me @BradrickH. Well I'm going to sign off for now, so you all take care and be safe out there. Also remember to stay humble and appreciate everyday that you're alive during these times we're in. You all have a great week ahead, and I'll see you all on the next topic. Peace out!

The Importance Of Finding The Life Formula That Works For You.

The good majority of us have heard of "formulas" as far back as our time as youths going to grade school. If you were someone that went to college at sometime or another, you more than likely have worked with formulas on some level as well. There are various uses of the word formula, and the most likely use of it has to do with math and chemistry. I'd like to think that those are the more well known uses, but there is another definition of formula that can be applied when it comes to how we go about our lives. The definition of formula in regards to this week's topic is the following: "a method, statement, or procedure for achieving something, especially reconciling different aims or positions." Now there could be a variety of ways that this definition is interpreted. However, the key statement in that definition that stands out to me most is "procedure for achieving something." I believe that this is so important because we live in a world that often tends to box us into doing things the same way. We're all expected to use the way that other people have previously done things in order for us to reach our own level of success. Just because a certain way works for one person doesn't always mean that it will work for others. This is one of the reasons why I believe it is of importance to find the formula of life that works for you as an individual.

What's good once again folks? This is Brad H. back in the mix once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This is a platform where I give my perspective on a topic that has crossed my mind as of late. I take that topic and try to use it as a way to help keep us motivated in this game of life. Thank you in advance to those of you that have read this far. So now is my soapbox section where I briefly address something that doesn't have to do with the main topic for the week. I'm sure by now that many of you heard of the tragic ending that happened with a so called "Covid" party that took place in San Antonio, Texas. A 30 year old man died from the virus after attending this party. This was a party that was apparently an attempt to prove that the virus was a hoax. I realize that wearing masks are an inconvenience, but think of the healthcare workers that have to wear them everyday for 8 to 12 hours. If you happen to get sick and need to be hospitalized, these are the people that have to take care of you. They are already overworked during this crisis, so why are we making it harder for them? I know it sucks, but please just wear a mask when you go out. Also, please don't be one of these people that think the virus is a hoax and you have to find out the hard way that it's not. Please be safe everyone, and don't tempt fate. Alright, now that I've gotten on my soapbox, lets get into the theme of the week on the importance of finding the formula that works best for you.

One of the main points of interest that has frequently been mentioned on this blog is the fact that we're all unique individuals. That is something that I strongly believe in. I think that most of us can agree that this is a fact, but for whatever reasons that I personally can't understand, there are some people that consistently go against this. You may wonder why I feel this way when it comes to this topic. How many times in your life have you had someone else try and get you to think the way that they do? I'm sure that it has been a countless amount of times for most of you. I'll go even further and ask how many times have you had someone try and get you to do exactly what they have done in order to achieve something? Sounds familiar doesn't it? We live in a world that knows that we're all different in how we handle our approach to life as individuals, yet we consistently try and get others to do things the exact way that someone else has done. From my personal perspective, that doesn't seem like a good standard for individuality, and I personally think that this can be a huge hindrance to the growth of another person.

Now before we go in the summation of the importance of finding the formula of life that works for you as an individual, I want to give a few examples of what we're referring to when we mention the formula. I spoke earlier on how so many people follow the same formula that others have in an attempt to find their own success. So say that we have two individuals that are athletes that play on the same basketball team. One of the players is a early sleeper/early riser. This is a player that goes to bed early and wakes up early. He finds that this way of going about being prepared suits him best. Now lets say the other player is someone that stays up late and wakes up late. However, this player spends the late night looking at film in order to prepare for the game. He finds that sleeping late on game days gives him less time stress over the game. Now most people would likely say that the early riser has the best formula for success. However, lets say that the second player is the one that averages the most points per game. Would the second player average more points if he were similar to player one? Would player one be a better player if he adopted player two's formula? There is absolutely no way of knowing, but I use this example to show that everyone has a different way of going about life that makes them tick.

So we're now at the point of summing up the importance of finding the life formula that works for you. To put it simply and straightforward, following the formula of others may not be the formula for you personally. When we think of math formulas for example, each one is individually tailored to accomplish a specific result. I believe that the same goes for us has human-beings. Also, keep in mind that forcing yourself to adopt a formula that isn't necessarily tailored for your life can lead to a lot of regret. I know and understand that we live in a society that thrives off of pleasing others, and there are ironically some adults in this world that still will go out of their way to make others happy. I also realize that there are going to be times when you may have to concede to the whims of society. However, we have to focus on having the formula that works for us as individuals. Before we close, I want to also stress the importance of not allowing others to shame you for not having a formula that most others are using. People cannot live your life for you, and at the end of the day you are going to be the one looking at your life in the mirror every morning. So lets try not to get caught up in following the formula of everyone else. Find a way of going about your life that works for you and stick with that.

So that's what I got for you all this week. I'm going to go ahead and close this thing out. I would like to once again thank everyone that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As always, if you all appreciated this or have any comments to contribute, please feel free to do that in the comment box. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect, please hit me up at the handle @BradrickH. There are definitely a lot of wild things happening in 2020 that we're not used to experiencing. I just want to encourage everyone to do whatever you have to in order to keep your mind right during these uncertain times. I hope you all have a great week ahead, and I'll see you all in the next topic. Peace out and be safe, everyone!

Why It Is Of Importance To Always Be At Your Strongest.

I believe that we all can admit that it is a little known fact that we as human-beings often partake in self deprecating actions on occasion. We would be lying to ourselves if we said otherwise. Now when we think of actions that could be seem as being self deprecating, what actions and activities does this include? There are a variety of actions that could be seen in this manner from my own perspective. A good portion of what could be seen as self deprecation all comes down to the individual and their own personal vices. Now another thing that we can also admit is that there are various reasons as to why we find ourselves engaging in habits that are self deprecating. We will get into that later on in the topic. Furthermore, not only does self deprecation come down to the individual and what we're partaking in, but each activity that could be viewed as self deprecating has a different effect on different people. Basically engaging in self deprecating behaviors is bad period, but there are behaviors that are worse than others. This is something else that we will be touching on throughout this topic. Though there are many variances that can have an effect when it comes to self deprecating behaviors, the one thing that nearly all of them have is common is that they weaken us. During these trying times that we're facing right now, it is crucial for us to be operating on a higher frequency than normal. This is one of the reasons why it is of importance for us to always attempt to be at our strongest.

Hello once again my good people! This is your boy Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here for another week to hopefully provide some inspiration that can hopefully be beneficial towards our lives. I hope that all has been well and good for you all lately, and I want to thank those of you that are reading this. So for my soapbox this week, I'm going to give my opinion on the whole mask vs. no mask debate that is going on amidst the Covid-19 pandemic that we're still in. As most of you have likely seen on the news the last week or two, the cases are beginning to ramp up in certain states. The state of Texas, which is where I'm from is seeing a major uptick along with California, Arizona and Florida. Now there has been a lot of talk about whether wearing masks when people go out works or not. I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, but with these cases rising and clearly getting out of hand, I am an advocate of mask wearing. I see so many people online and on the news that complain about the masks. I just think to myself that it's just a mask. I know it is an inconvenience, but unless you work somewhere where you have to wear it all day long, it's really not that big portion of your life. If it can help slow down this spread and not overload the healthcare system, I'm all for it. Again, I'm not here to tell anyone what to do. I just hope everyone takes this serious and look out for one another. If that means wearing a mask when you go to places, then that's what it is. Now that I've given my spill on that, lets get into this week's theme of the importance of always being at your strongest.

Now when I personally think of what it means for an individual to be at their strongest, I think of someone that is operating at their peak performance. This means different things for different people, which ultimately means that it is up to us an individuals to define what it means for us to be at our strongest. Now I mentioned in the opening how we often engage in habits that could be seen as being self deprecating. Before I get to the point that I am trying to make with this topic, I think it is important for us to first define what it means to be self deprecating towards oneself. The definition of self deprecating is to belittle or undervalue oneself. This basically mean partaking in things that are beneath you. Now as with the theme of operating at your strongest, determining whether something is beneath you as an individual is something that it up to the individual. There may be certain things that I personally feel are beneath me, but that doesn't mean that another person can feel that way about those things when it comes to their own life. Again, it is totally up to you as individual to determine this. Now I cannot speak for anyone else, but I think that it's pretty standard to think that doing things that are beneath you will not equal to a person being at their strongest. I believe it is nearly impossible to be strong when you're doing thinks that weaken you in any way, shape or form.

So when it comes to the idea of a person being at their strongest, what exactly does this entail? There are a variety of ways that this could be defined, and I want to point out again that it is totally subjective. However, for me personally when I think of being at my strongest, I think of the word preparation. Now I do realize that it isn't feasible to believe that a person can always be prepared for everything, but we also know and understand that there are ways to prepare yourself to the best of your ability. We do this by engaging in good habits that help us to improve. On the other side of the spectrum, we can also do things that can weaken us. These are the bad habits that can often lead to a lack of preparation. For example, imagine a student that has a big test coming up at the end of the semester. If this student makes a commitment of studying an hour a day for the two weeks leading up to the test, you'd think they would be more likely to do well right? Now if the same student chooses to play video games or hang out with their friends instead of studying, and they wait till a couple of days before to cram for the test, the odds of them not doing as well will likely increase. Now I know in this example that the preparation was for something that was upcoming, but the fact remains that whether something happens on the spur of the moment or upcoming, good habits will increase your chances of being prepared for what is to come.

So all of this ultimately brings us to the importance of always being at your strongest. From my own personal perspective, a person that is at their strongest are much more prepared for the unpredictability of life. As I have brought up already on this topic, there is never a way to truly be prepared for something that you're not expecting. I think most of us that live in the states can relate to this because most of us was not expecting this pandemic to hit us in the way that it has. Just think of the people that already prepare on a daily basis for any sort of crisis. These are the people that are more likely to be able to handle something that happens unexpectedly. On the other hand if you're stuck in a weaker state of mind, the chances of you not being able to endure unexpected circumstances is more likely. I personally believe that the best way to be at your strongest is to practice good habits that bring value to your life. Of course none of us can always be at our strongest, but we can always do our best to be there more often than not. We should all be doing doing our due diligence to make ourselves both physically and mentally strong as we can be. We cannot do this if we're stuck in a cycle of self deprecation by having bad habits that constantly weaken us. From my perspective, this is why I feel that it is of importance for us to be at our strongest as much as possible.

That pretty much sums up this week's topic folks, so it is time for me to go ahead and sign off. The Importance Of Viewing Anger In The Proper Context Of Your Life.

Anger is one of the many emotions that we all experience on occasion. It is probably one of the biggest aspects of life that we all have in common. There are some people out here in the world that claim that they never get angry, but that is something that I personally find very hard to believe. The only way that I can see that being even somewhat feasible is if you're a person that just never goes around other people at all. Even if that were plausible, there would still be something in a person's life that will bring out the emotion of anger. Heck, just stubbing your toe against a table is enough to make a person angry from the sheer pain. I believe that one of the more overlooked aspects of life when it comes to the emotion of anger is the degree and intensity of the emotion. There are various levels when it comes to being angry. There are going to be some things that make us more angry than other things. Furthermore, there are going to things that mildly make us angry, while there can be circumstances that bring our anger to the point of full blown rage. Often times the emotion of anger it and of itself shouldn't be at the forefront of how we react. It is normally the reasons and how we react with our anger is what matters most. Life can be a complex puzzle of emotions, and that also applies when it comes to anger. This is why I feel that it is of importance for us to develop the ability to view anger in the proper context within our lives.

Hey, how's it going everyone? This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to bring my perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful for us all. I think that most of us can agree that we definitely need some extra motivation during these trying times that we're in. I hope all has been good for you all since the last topic. So for this week's soapbox section, I'm going to be giving my perspective on the news this week of how the upcoming NFL season could potentially be cancelled. Now as of right now, nothing has been officially announced in regards to the season being cancelled. However, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who we all know of by now due to the pandemic recently made comments stating that the season could be in jeopardy if players aren't in a bubble and tested daily. Also, news came out of a few players from the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans tested positive for the virus. The most notable name being Ezekiel Elliot, running back for the Cowboys. Of course this news set the internet on fire, and understandably so. The majority of us love football, right? I read a lot of comments where people were basically going at Dr. Fauci for implying that there may not be any football this season. Now I think I've said this before in previous topics, but as much as I love sports myself, I would rather not see them happen if it puts the players in jeopardy. I'll never tell anyone else what to do or think, but I think safety is more important right now with what we're dealing with globally. I just hope we as a people can keep things in the proper perspective when it comes to the things that are a priority first. Remember that sports will always be here, and they are going to come back eventually. That's pretty much my opinion on this topic, so lets go ahead and talk more about the importance of viewing anger in the proper context.

Now when the average person typically thinks of anger and how it affects us in our lives, we usually associate it with negativity. I will gladly admit that I am one of those people that thinks this way for the most part. There have been many occasions in my life where getting angry has had a negative effect on my life. I'm sure that all of you can relate to this in your own personal life as well. For me personally, one of the biggest things with anger is that like with the many other emotions that we experience in life, it doesn't take much to get us to that point. I could experience anger right this moment with this topic that I am typing out. If I were to lose the work that I've done it on because my computer shutdown unexpectedly before I was able to save my work, I could easily find myself being angry about that. Someone looking at you the wrong way in public could quickly trigger an angry emotion in you. It doesn't take much at all, right? Now another aspect of anger is the loss of self control. How many of us have gotten angry and said something that we more than likely would not say if we hadn't gotten angry? Depending on what it is that has made a person angry, along with the degree of the anger at hand plays a large factor in how anger affects our lives.

Now although I talked about how most people, including myself see anger in general as a negative thing, I will also admit that not all anger is bad anger. We are all aware that anger is inescapable and that it is something we all deal with, but there are going to be moments in our live where it works to our favor. Again, much of this comes down to what I brought up in the intro, which is the degree of the emotions. We all know that there are some things that make us more angry than other things, right? I may not get overly anger if one of my favorite sports teams lose a game, compared to someone else that gets angry to the point where their entire day is ruined. This is where the individual aspect comes into play when it comes to anger. I brought up how not all anger is bad anger, but much of that comes down to how a person chooses to channel their anger. Can you take your anger and channel it towards something positive, or do you lose control when you're anger to the point where you're raging out? I believe that a person that is able to properly channel their anger is a person that has more control over their anger. Again, anger is going to always be a part of our lives, but it all comes down to how we handle it. This ultimately brings us to the main theme of this topic, which is the importance of viewing anger in the proper context of our lives.

So why is it of importance for us to view anger in the proper context when it comes to our individual lives? As with the majority of emotions in life, it ultimately all comes down to individuality. Though every single one of us experiences anger in our lives from time to time, the ways in which we deal with our anger is what differs. This is why I mentioned earlier that not all anger is bad anger. Some people are able to take their anger and channel it towards positive actions, while the opposite applies to those that aren't able to do so. It is practically impossible to come up with a single formula on how to deal with anger. Rather than coming up with a standard formula for dealing with anger, it is important for us as individuals to determine what place that anger have in our lives. This is why I think it is important for us to view anger in a context that isn't so standard. Since most people view anger as a huge negative, you're going to have a lot of people that will say things to imply that people shouldn't get angry. That is a watered down viewpoint from my perspective. It is all about finding what role you want anger to potentially play in life. I'll end this by saying that whatever role a person chooses to deal with their anger, just try and do it in a healthy way that helps towards benefiting your life.

That is what I have for you all this week, so it is time for me to sign off for now. Thank you all once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that this topic was one that has been beneficial to some of you. As always, if you enjoyed this or have any comments to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment box. Why Some People Lack The Desire To Do What They Know Needs To Be Done.

If it seems that I have brought up the topic of excuses on this platform quite a bit as of late, it is definitely by no accident. The theme of excuses is something that I've been pondering on quite a bit during this pandemic that we're currently in. There are many ways for excuses to be defined, and they apply to us all in many different ways. We all know or have encountered people that I like to refer to as "excuse makers". Okay, I know that isn't exactly a creative or eloquent way to describe people that make excuses, but we'll just roll with it for this topic. So what qualities entail the traits of an excuse maker? First off, before I go into what defines an excuse maker, I want to say that this applies to every single one of us at times. Whether we would like to admit it or not, we all make, or have made excuses in our lives. When I think of an excuse maker, I think of a person that has an excuse for nearly every single thing they cannot accomplish. In some ways you can think of these people as being argumentative. You say yes, and they are guaranteed to say no back. You come up with how certain things can be done, and they will come up with ways why it won't work. These are people that basically got a reason for everything. However, as I have pondered on excuses and how so many of us make them constantly, what I have come to realize is that excuses aren't the real issue; the lack of desire is what is.

What's going on once again good people? This is Brad H. back once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! For those of you that aren't already aware of what this blog entails, this is a platform where I give my perspective on a topic that I think can serve as a bit of inspiration for us all. I'd like to thank everyone that has stopped by to read what I have to say, and I hope you all have been doing well since the last writing. So this is my soapbox section where I talk about something besides the primary topic that I'll be addressing. What can we say about the year 2020 so far folks? It has truly been both a rough and unprecedented year so far. Not only are we having to endure the global pandemic that so many people have seemingly forgotten about since the country has reopened for the most part. We are still as a nation having to deal with unjust treatment by the police. I'm sure by now that all of you know about the death of George Floyd by the hand of police officers in Minneapolis nearly two weeks ago. The protests that have happened in the aftermath of Mr. Floyd's tragic death have been some of the likes that most of us have never seen before. I remember watching live coverage of the protests on CNN last Friday, and remember thinking to myself that what is going on in this country almost feels like a real life movie of the film "The Purge: Anarchy". With all the trying hardships that America and the world at large is facing, now more than ever is the time for us to come together. I don't know what it's going to take for us to do so, but I really do fear that bad things are on the horizon if we don't. My condolence go to the family of Mr. Floyd, as well as everyone else that have been unjustly killed. May all their souls rest in peace. Now lets go ahead and talk about why I think that it is a lack of desire that causes us not to do what needs to be done.

Every single one of us has certain goals and aspirations that we would like to obtain while we're within this world. Those goals will always differ and be unique when it comes down to us being individuals. Now there are many ways for a person to approach their goals, but one thing that we all realize is that the first step towards accomplishing something is to start. You can't finish a race if you don't even attempt to line up at the start line right? During the opening of the this week's topic, I addressed excuses and how they aren't the real issue when it comes to us attempting things. I think it all boils down to a person not having the heart, nor the desire to do what needs to be done. Now although I don't see excuses as being the real issue here, I will attest that they do play a big role. I believe that we have to put more of an emphasis on what exactly it is that causes us to make excuses in the first place. This is one of those topics that definitely can be viewed in a variety of ways, and I think that every single one of us can look at something in our own lives that we have used excuses for. Again, the primary emphasis is trying to find out what it is that causes us to use excuses.

Now before I get into an example of why I say some people lack the desire to do what needs to be done, I want to say that this topic is not intended to insult or demean anyone. Not everyone has the stomach or will to do certain things, and that is perfectly okay. We have to be mindful that not everyone views life in the same lens. More than anything, I would say that much of what I'm going to say in regards to the lack of desire applies more so the the excuse makers that I referred to earlier. In the opening I coined the term "excuse makers", and I mentioned how I view them as being argumentative. Now the reason I say this is because I view excuse makers as those that will argue other people down as to why they believe something can't be accomplished. We all know people that have said that they want to achieve something, but when you ask them about their progress towards what they're claiming they want to do, they have an excuse for why they are not accomplishing it. Then if you happen to give them advice or a different way towards how could potentially do it, they have a reason for that as well. Some things in life just can't be covered up by excuses. I say this because there are certain aspects of life that there are no excuses for coming up with.

There are various reasons as to why we lack the will and desire to do the things that need to be done. One of the biggest reasons that I can think of off the top of my head is fear. How many of us have been afraid to do something, but instead of being honest about being fearful, we come up with an excuse to hide that fear? We all have things that we want and need to do in our lives. Many of these things are things that we'd rather not do because they're hard. The thing is that in order to get anything accomplished in our lives, we have to get rid of the excuses and admit that we don't have the desire. I believe that when a person truly sets their mind to want to do something, there is often little than anything or anyone can do to stop them. If you're making excuses, you have to get down to the real reason why're you're making these excuses. However, the thing to realize also is that if there are excuses involved, then you probably aren't as serious about doing what needs to be done. Again, there isn't anything wrong with this, but the main thing is for us to be honest with ourselves. So to sum up this topic, the reason why some people lack the desire is because they really don't have the desire in the first place. It's always easier to cover things with excuses, but that mentality is one that won't get us anywhere from my perspective.

So that is my perspective on why some people lack the desire to do what needs to be done. I hope that I was able to bring this topic out in a manner that is understandable for you all. This has been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' brought to you by me, Brad H. If anyone has any comments or feedback to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment section.
