I believe that we all can admit that it is a little known fact that we as human-beings often partake in self deprecating actions on occasion. We would be lying to ourselves if we said otherwise. Now when we think of actions that could be seem as being self deprecating, what actions and activities does this include? There are a variety of actions that could be seen in this manner from my own perspective. A good portion of what could be seen as self deprecation all comes down to the individual and their own personal vices. Now another thing that we can also admit is that there are various reasons as to why we find ourselves engaging in habits that are self deprecating. We will get into that later on in the topic. Furthermore, not only does self deprecation come down to the individual and what we're partaking in, but each activity that could be viewed as self deprecating has a different effect on different people. Basically engaging in self deprecating behaviors is bad period, but there are behaviors that are worse than others. This is something else that we will be touching on throughout this topic. Though there are many variances that can have an effect when it comes to self deprecating behaviors, the one thing that nearly all of them have is common is that they weaken us. During these trying times that we're facing right now, it is crucial for us to be operating on a higher frequency than normal. This is one of the reasons why it is of importance for us to always attempt to be at our strongest.
Hello once again my good people! This is your boy Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here for another week to hopefully provide some inspiration that can hopefully be beneficial towards our lives. I hope that all has been well and good for you all lately, and I want to thank those of you that are reading this. So for my soapbox this week, I'm going to give my opinion on the whole mask vs. no mask debate that is going on amidst the Covid-19 pandemic that we're still in. As most of you have likely seen on the news the last week or two, the cases are beginning to ramp up in certain states. The state of Texas, which is where I'm from is seeing a major uptick along with California, Arizona and Florida. Now there has been a lot of talk about whether wearing masks when people go out works or not. I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, but with these cases rising and clearly getting out of hand, I am an advocate of mask wearing. I see so many people online and on the news that complain about the masks. I just think to myself that it's just a mask. I know it is an inconvenience, but unless you work somewhere where you have to wear it all day long, it's really not that big portion of your life. If it can help slow down this spread and not overload the healthcare system, I'm all for it. Again, I'm not here to tell anyone what to do. I just hope everyone takes this serious and look out for one another. If that means wearing a mask when you go to places, then that's what it is. Now that I've given my spill on that, lets get into this week's theme of the importance of always being at your strongest.
Now when I personally think of what it means for an individual to be at their strongest, I think of someone that is operating at their peak performance. This means different things for different people, which ultimately means that it is up to us an individuals to define what it means for us to be at our strongest. Now I mentioned in the opening how we often engage in habits that could be seen as being self deprecating. Before I get to the point that I am trying to make with this topic, I think it is important for us to first define what it means to be self deprecating towards oneself. The definition of self deprecating is to belittle or undervalue oneself. This basically mean partaking in things that are beneath you. Now as with the theme of operating at your strongest, determining whether something is beneath you as an individual is something that it up to the individual. There may be certain things that I personally feel are beneath me, but that doesn't mean that another person can feel that way about those things when it comes to their own life. Again, it is totally up to you as individual to determine this. Now I cannot speak for anyone else, but I think that it's pretty standard to think that doing things that are beneath you will not equal to a person being at their strongest. I believe it is nearly impossible to be strong when you're doing thinks that weaken you in any way, shape or form.
So when it comes to the idea of a person being at their strongest, what exactly does this entail? There are a variety of ways that this could be defined, and I want to point out again that it is totally subjective. However, for me personally when I think of being at my strongest, I think of the word preparation. Now I do realize that it isn't feasible to believe that a person can always be prepared for everything, but we also know and understand that there are ways to prepare yourself to the best of your ability. We do this by engaging in good habits that help us to improve. On the other side of the spectrum, we can also do things that can weaken us. These are the bad habits that can often lead to a lack of preparation. For example, imagine a student that has a big test coming up at the end of the semester. If this student makes a commitment of studying an hour a day for the two weeks leading up to the test, you'd think they would be more likely to do well right? Now if the same student chooses to play video games or hang out with their friends instead of studying, and they wait till a couple of days before to cram for the test, the odds of them not doing as well will likely increase. Now I know in this example that the preparation was for something that was upcoming, but the fact remains that whether something happens on the spur of the moment or upcoming, good habits will increase your chances of being prepared for what is to come.
So all of this ultimately brings us to the importance of always being at your strongest. From my own personal perspective, a person that is at their strongest are much more prepared for the unpredictability of life. As I have brought up already on this topic, there is never a way to truly be prepared for something that you're not expecting. I think most of us that live in the states can relate to this because most of us was not expecting this pandemic to hit us in the way that it has. Just think of the people that already prepare on a daily basis for any sort of crisis. These are the people that are more likely to be able to handle something that happens unexpectedly. On the other hand if you're stuck in a weaker state of mind, the chances of you not being able to endure unexpected circumstances is more likely. I personally believe that the best way to be at your strongest is to practice good habits that bring value to your life. Of course none of us can always be at our strongest, but we can always do our best to be there more often than not. We should all be doing doing our due diligence to make ourselves both physically and mentally strong as we can be. We cannot do this if we're stuck in a cycle of self deprecation by having bad habits that constantly weaken us. From my perspective, this is why I feel that it is of importance for us to be at our strongest as much as possible.
That pretty much sums up this week's topic folks, so it is time for me to go ahead and sign off. Thank you once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that I was able to bring this topic in a way that everyone can relate to. The Importance Of Viewing Anger In The Proper Context Of Your Life.
Anger is one of the many emotions that we all experience on occasion. It is probably one of the biggest aspects of life that we all have in common. There are some people out here in the world that claim that they never get angry, but that is something that I personally find very hard to believe. The only way that I can see that being even somewhat feasible is if you're a person that just never goes around other people at all. Even if that were plausible, there would still be something in a person's life that will bring out the emotion of anger. Heck, just stubbing your toe against a table is enough to make a person angry from the sheer pain. I believe that one of the more overlooked aspects of life when it comes to the emotion of anger is the degree and intensity of the emotion. There are various levels when it comes to being angry. There are going to be some things that make us more angry than other things. Furthermore, there are going to things that mildly make us angry, while there can be circumstances that bring our anger to the point of full blown rage. Often times the emotion of anger it and of itself shouldn't be at the forefront of how we react. It is normally the reasons and how we react with our anger is what matters most. Life can be a complex puzzle of emotions, and that also applies when it comes to anger. This is why I feel that it is of importance for us to develop the ability to view anger in the proper context within our lives.
Hey, how's it going everyone? This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to bring my perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful for us all. I think that most of us can agree that we definitely need some extra motivation during these trying times that we're in. I hope all has been good for you all since the last topic. So for this week's soapbox section, I'm going to be giving my perspective on the news this week of how the upcoming NFL season could potentially be cancelled. Now as of right now, nothing has been officially announced in regards to the season being cancelled. However, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who we all know of by now due to the pandemic recently made comments stating that the season could be in jeopardy if players aren't in a bubble and tested daily. Also, news came out of a few players from the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans tested positive for the virus. The most notable name being Ezekiel Elliot, running back for the Cowboys. Of course this news set the internet on fire, and understandably so. The majority of us love football, right? I read a lot of comments where people were basically going at Dr. Fauci for implying that there may not be any football this season. Now I think I've said this before in previous topics, but as much as I love sports myself, I would rather not see them happen if it puts the players in jeopardy. I'll never tell anyone else what to do or think, but I think safety is more important right now with what we're dealing with globally. I just hope we as a people can keep things in the proper perspective when it comes to the things that are a priority first. Remember that sports will always be here, and they are going to come back eventually. That's pretty much my opinion on this topic, so lets go ahead and talk more about the importance of viewing anger in the proper context.
Now when the average person typically thinks of anger and how it affects us in our lives, we usually associate it with negativity. I will gladly admit that I am one of those people that thinks this way for the most part. There have been many occasions in my life where getting angry has had a negative effect on my life. I'm sure that all of you can relate to this in your own personal life as well. For me personally, one of the biggest things with anger is that like with the many other emotions that we experience in life, it doesn't take much to get us to that point. I could experience anger right this moment with this topic that I am typing out. If I were to lose the work that I've done it on because my computer shutdown unexpectedly before I was able to save my work, I could easily find myself being angry about that. Someone looking at you the wrong way in public could quickly trigger an angry emotion in you. It doesn't take much at all, right? Now another aspect of anger is the loss of self control. How many of us have gotten angry and said something that we more than likely would not say if we hadn't gotten angry? Depending on what it is that has made a person angry, along with the degree of the anger at hand plays a large factor in how anger affects our lives.
Now although I talked about how most people, including myself see anger in general as a negative thing, I will also admit that not all anger is bad anger. We are all aware that anger is inescapable and that it is something we all deal with, but there are going to be moments in our live where it works to our favor. Again, much of this comes down to what I brought up in the intro, which is the degree of the emotions. We all know that there are some things that make us more angry than other things, right? I may not get overly anger if one of my favorite sports teams lose a game, compared to someone else that gets angry to the point where their entire day is ruined. This is where the individual aspect comes into play when it comes to anger. I brought up how not all anger is bad anger, but much of that comes down to how a person chooses to channel their anger. Can you take your anger and channel it towards something positive, or do you lose control when you're anger to the point where you're raging out? I believe that a person that is able to properly channel their anger is a person that has more control over their anger. Again, anger is going to always be a part of our lives, but it all comes down to how we handle it. This ultimately brings us to the main theme of this topic, which is the importance of viewing anger in the proper context of our lives.
So why is it of importance for us to view anger in the proper context when it comes to our individual lives? As with the majority of emotions in life, it ultimately all comes down to individuality. Though every single one of us experiences anger in our lives from time to time, the ways in which we deal with our anger is what differs. This is why I mentioned earlier that not all anger is bad anger. Some people are able to take their anger and channel it towards positive actions, while the opposite applies to those that aren't able to do so. It is practically impossible to come up with a single formula on how to deal with anger. Rather than coming up with a standard formula for dealing with anger, it is important for us as individuals to determine what place that anger have in our lives. This is why I think it is important for us to view anger in a context that isn't so standard. Since most people view anger as a huge negative, you're going to have a lot of people that will say things to imply that people shouldn't get angry. That is a watered down viewpoint from my perspective. It is all about finding what role you want anger to potentially play in life. I'll end this by saying that whatever role a person chooses to deal with their anger, just try and do it in a healthy way that helps towards benefiting your life.
That is what I have for you all this week, so it is time for me to sign off for now. Thank you all once again to those of you that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that this topic was one that has been beneficial to some of you. As always, if you enjoyed this or have any comments to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment box. Why Some People Lack The Desire To Do What They Know Needs To Be Done.
If it seems that I have brought up the topic of excuses on this platform quite a bit as of late, it is definitely by no accident. The theme of excuses is something that I've been pondering on quite a bit during this pandemic that we're currently in. There are many ways for excuses to be defined, and they apply to us all in many different ways. We all know or have encountered people that I like to refer to as "excuse makers". Okay, I know that isn't exactly a creative or eloquent way to describe people that make excuses, but we'll just roll with it for this topic. So what qualities entail the traits of an excuse maker? First off, before I go into what defines an excuse maker, I want to say that this applies to every single one of us at times. Whether we would like to admit it or not, we all make, or have made excuses in our lives. When I think of an excuse maker, I think of a person that has an excuse for nearly every single thing they cannot accomplish. In some ways you can think of these people as being argumentative. You say yes, and they are guaranteed to say no back. You come up with how certain things can be done, and they will come up with ways why it won't work. These are people that basically got a reason for everything. However, as I have pondered on excuses and how so many of us make them constantly, what I have come to realize is that excuses aren't the real issue; the lack of desire is what is.
What's going on once again good people? This is Brad H. back once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! For those of you that aren't already aware of what this blog entails, this is a platform where I give my perspective on a topic that I think can serve as a bit of inspiration for us all. I'd like to thank everyone that has stopped by to read what I have to say, and I hope you all have been doing well since the last writing. So this is my soapbox section where I talk about something besides the primary topic that I'll be addressing. What can we say about the year 2020 so far folks? It has truly been both a rough and unprecedented year so far. Not only are we having to endure the global pandemic that so many people have seemingly forgotten about since the country has reopened for the most part. We are still as a nation having to deal with unjust treatment by the police. I'm sure by now that all of you know about the death of George Floyd by the hand of police officers in Minneapolis nearly two weeks ago. The protests that have happened in the aftermath of Mr. Floyd's tragic death have been some of the likes that most of us have never seen before. I remember watching live coverage of the protests on CNN last Friday, and remember thinking to myself that what is going on in this country almost feels like a real life movie of the film "The Purge: Anarchy". With all the trying hardships that America and the world at large is facing, now more than ever is the time for us to come together. I don't know what it's going to take for us to do so, but I really do fear that bad things are on the horizon if we don't. My condolence go to the family of Mr. Floyd, as well as everyone else that have been unjustly killed. May all their souls rest in peace. Now lets go ahead and talk about why I think that it is a lack of desire that causes us not to do what needs to be done.
Every single one of us has certain goals and aspirations that we would like to obtain while we're within this world. Those goals will always differ and be unique when it comes down to us being individuals. Now there are many ways for a person to approach their goals, but one thing that we all realize is that the first step towards accomplishing something is to start. You can't finish a race if you don't even attempt to line up at the start line right? During the opening of the this week's topic, I addressed excuses and how they aren't the real issue when it comes to us attempting things. I think it all boils down to a person not having the heart, nor the desire to do what needs to be done. Now although I don't see excuses as being the real issue here, I will attest that they do play a big role. I believe that we have to put more of an emphasis on what exactly it is that causes us to make excuses in the first place. This is one of those topics that definitely can be viewed in a variety of ways, and I think that every single one of us can look at something in our own lives that we have used excuses for. Again, the primary emphasis is trying to find out what it is that causes us to use excuses.
Now before I get into an example of why I say some people lack the desire to do what needs to be done, I want to say that this topic is not intended to insult or demean anyone. Not everyone has the stomach or will to do certain things, and that is perfectly okay. We have to be mindful that not everyone views life in the same lens. More than anything, I would say that much of what I'm going to say in regards to the lack of desire applies more so the the excuse makers that I referred to earlier. In the opening I coined the term "excuse makers", and I mentioned how I view them as being argumentative. Now the reason I say this is because I view excuse makers as those that will argue other people down as to why they believe something can't be accomplished. We all know people that have said that they want to achieve something, but when you ask them about their progress towards what they're claiming they want to do, they have an excuse for why they are not accomplishing it. Then if you happen to give them advice or a different way towards how could potentially do it, they have a reason for that as well. Some things in life just can't be covered up by excuses. I say this because there are certain aspects of life that there are no excuses for coming up with.
There are various reasons as to why we lack the will and desire to do the things that need to be done. One of the biggest reasons that I can think of off the top of my head is fear. How many of us have been afraid to do something, but instead of being honest about being fearful, we come up with an excuse to hide that fear? We all have things that we want and need to do in our lives. Many of these things are things that we'd rather not do because they're hard. The thing is that in order to get anything accomplished in our lives, we have to get rid of the excuses and admit that we don't have the desire. I believe that when a person truly sets their mind to want to do something, there is often little than anything or anyone can do to stop them. If you're making excuses, you have to get down to the real reason why're you're making these excuses. However, the thing to realize also is that if there are excuses involved, then you probably aren't as serious about doing what needs to be done. Again, there isn't anything wrong with this, but the main thing is for us to be honest with ourselves. So to sum up this topic, the reason why some people lack the desire is because they really don't have the desire in the first place. It's always easier to cover things with excuses, but that mentality is one that won't get us anywhere from my perspective.
So that is my perspective on why some people lack the desire to do what needs to be done. I hope that I was able to bring this topic out in a manner that is understandable for you all. This has been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' brought to you by me, Brad H. If anyone has any comments or feedback to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment section. You can also reach out to me on Twitter @BradrickH if you'd like. I thank you all once again for coming through, and I hope you all have a great week ahead. I know that there are some trying times that we're facing globally, but keep the faith that things can and will get better. I'll see you all on the next topic, and thank you all once again. Peace out everyone!

A Shutdown Isn't An Excuse To Letdown.
The topic of making excuses has been one that I've brought up on many occasions on here in the past. We're all guilty of using them at times for our own personal reasons. It's almost like excuses are the equivalent to a warm blanket during the cold winter months. They provide us with a false sense of comfort when we know that we've let ourselves and others down. The majority of us use excuses as a way out of holding ourselves accountable for our shortcomings. With saying that, I'm not implying that anyone is a bad person for making excuses. Like I have already mentioned, we're all guilty of using excuses in our lives. More importantly than the excuses that we use to cover up for our flaws are the reasons behind the excuses that we give. If you're going to give excuses for something in your life, there is likely going to be a reason behind it. Everyone knows about the global pandemic that we're currently in due to the Covid-19 virus. Because of this deadly virus that has claimed so any lives, there were shutdowns of countries and governments all over the world. Things have begun to open up a bit, but there are still areas of the world where there are lock downs being implemented. These shutdowns have forced us to stay at home to try and curve the spread of the virus. There are some people that have used the global shutdown as a reason to put off doing the things we need to do. I'm here to give my perspective on why I believe that a shutdown is not a proper excuse for you to let yourself down.
What's going on good people? This is Brad H. back once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to give my perspective on a topic that not only has been on my mind as of late, but also to hopefully provide a bit of inspiration to those of you that have stopped by. I hope that things have been going as good as possible for you all since the last topic that I covered. I realize that things aren't back to normal due to the pandemic, but hopefully some of you are beginning to experience a small bit of normalcy with various things opening back up. I still encourage everyone to stay as safe as possible despite the reopening, and do not think that this crisis is over because things are reopening. This pandemic is far from over, and letting down our guard is not the thing we need to do now. So for the soapbox this week, I want to continue with the theme of the pandemic and how it relates to sports. Most of you that are frequent readers here know that I am a huge sports fan. You can imagine how much I'm longing for sports right now since they have been away for a couple of months now. I know many other sports fans are getting antsy as well, but I also think that now is a time where we have to put our personal desires to the side for the betterment of everyone. We don't want to see more of our favorite athletes getting sick, and we surely don't want to see sports open back up only to be suspended again because an athlete tests positive. Sports will come back eventually, so lets have a bit of patience and understanding for what's going on. So now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk about why a shutdown isn't an excuse for a letdown.
Since the global pandemic that we're currently going through is something that we all pretty much have in common in regards to it being an experience that we're all having to endure, I'm primarily going to be using it as a point of reference on why a shutdown isn't an excuse for a letdown. Now I mentioned earlier how various businesses and activities are beginning to open back up during the pandemic. Despite the frequent openings that are taking place all over the world, there are still many places that remain in a shutdown. We constantly see and hear on the news and radio about the various shutdowns that the pandemic have brought. From my personal perspective, there is an aspect of the not only the shutdown, but also the pandemic in general that we don't see brought up often enough. What I'm referring to is the mental aspect of the shutdown. I believe that there is not enough talk about how the crisis as a whole is affecting people mentally. Now I do realize that not everyone will be mentally affected by the closing of things in the same manner. However, we do have to acknowledge that the idea of not being able to do certain things that we're accustomed to doing can play on our psyche.
Now the reason that I'm primarily using the pandemic that we're in as an example in this post is because the shutdowns that have came along with the pandemic have put many people in a position where they have to be still. If you're not able to go and do things that you're accustomed to doing, what do you do next? Not everyone can just come up with other things to do for whatever reasons. For some people this has turned into a period of time where we are being a little too still, and like I stated previously, it is playing on the psyche for many people. Now I talked earlier about how many of us use excuses as justification for our flaws and shortfalls right? Could it be possible that the global shutdown that has happened is being used as an excuse to letdown on our goals? From my own personal perspective, I believe that this has become a reality for many people worldwide. I also want you all to consider that the shutdown in and of itself isn't only physical in the sense where businesses, schools and gyms are shutting down. There's a psychological aspect that come along with watching the news and social media constantly repeating the fact that things have shutdown. Think of it as being similar to a light switch. When you shut off the switch, the room goes completely dim until you flick the switch again.
Continuing with the light switch comparison, it is time for those of us that have shutdown in whatever way we deem as relevant to our lives to flick on the switch again. It is time to leave behind the excuses and reasons as to why we aren't continuing to truck towards our goals. The reason why I feel that a shutdown isn't an excuse to let ourselves down is because there is always a way to self improve regardless of what is going on. If you're a person that goes to the gym frequently and find that the gyms are closed due to the virus, that doesn't mean you completely stop exercising. You find other ways to keep yourself active. There are all types of activities that can be done outdoors to keep you healthy, not to mention that there are numerous workout videos online that can be done right at home. That's just one example, but the main theme of this topic is to encourage everyone to drop the excuses just because things aren't going as they would normally during this period of time. The truth of the matter is that this may be our new normal for quite sometime, and we most definitely won't get anywhere if we use it as an excuse as to not keep pushing forward. So remember that a shutdown isn't an excuse for you to let yourself down. Keep yourself motivated, and keep on pressing forward towards the aspirations that you have.
That is all that I got for this week's topic on the idea that a shutdown isn't an excuse to letdown. I hope that I was able to bring this out in a way that was both meaningful and understanding for everyone. Thanks to you all once that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! Not All Sacrifices Are Worth Making.
It's a known theme of life that nothing great happens without there being a level of sacrifice behind it. If we look throughout the history of major events that have occurred before and during our lifetime, people have always made great sacrifices in order for the greater good. Most of us in our own lives have had to make various sacrifices throughout our lives. Sometimes the sacrifices that we make are to our benefit, and there are others where we do it for the benefit of other people. I believe that we have to seek to have a healthy balance when it comes to making sacrifices. I look at it as being similar to the "give and take" approach when it comes to life. You have to be strive to be a person that has an equal level of give and take. It's never good to be too far either way when it comes to giving and taking. Now while I'm a person that believes that making various sacrifices is an honorable thing to do, I also believe that we sometimes make sacrifices that we know will have a bad outcome for us. It's almost like going into a battle that you're not entirely prepared for. There is a big difference between being brave and being irresponsible when it comes to making sacrifices. This is one of the reasons why I have come to realize that despite the act of making sacrifices being an honorable thing to do, not all sacrifices are worth making.
Hello once again everyone! This is Brad H. reporting once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am back once again to bring my perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful in keeping us moving forward in our lives. I hope that you all have been staying safe during this global crisis that we're in. Keeping with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic that we're currently in, I'm going to use my soapbox to address the importance of listening to what the actual experts say in regards to this pandemic. In the last topic that I covered, I talked about how we shouldn't be so quick to think that everything is back to normal just because governors are opening states back up. Well I watched a video a couple of days ago where a nurse from the state of Georgia was telling what her experience has been like daily when she goes to work. She talked of how appalled she was that the governor of her state had reopened the state so quickly, and she urged people to continue to stay home so her job wouldn't be even more difficult that it already is. I bring this up to say that we should be paying more attention to what actual healthcare professionals say instead of what politicians are saying. Always be mindful that the nurses and doctors are more interested in saving lives, while politicians are more concerned with being elected. As I mentioned in the last topic, don't be so quick to think everything is back to normal because governors are opening up states. Continue to do what is best for you and your family regardless of what politicians urge. I also want to give a big shout out to all the nurses out there. Thank you all for all you do to care for others. Well that's it for my soapbox, so lets get into this week's topic of why not all sacrifices are worth making.
Before I get more into this week's topic of why sacrifices should be carefully thought about, I want to begin by saying that there will probably be quite a few of you that may disagree with me on this topic. I totally get why, and if that happens to be the case, I definitely understand. I just hope that the perspective that I bring on this topic is one that makes sense. I also want to point out the obvious, which is that as with the majority of the topics that I talk about on here, this subject is one that is purely subjective. Now I mentioned earlier how sacrifice is a theme of life if you would call it that. Sacrifice from others has always been needed when it comes to benefiting the greater good. Now when we talk about the topic of sacrifice, there many different layers that it entails. Like I mentioned earlier, many people sacrifice for other people to the point where the person that makes the sacrifices doesn't see any benefits from it. Then we have the sacrifices that we as people make in our individual lives on a daily basis. I'm of the mindset that the personal sacrifices that we make for ourselves are the ones that should take precedence in our lives. Now with saying that, I'm not implying that we shouldn't sacrifice for others, but as I mentioned earlier, there should be a healthy balance of give and take.
Now there are many of us right now that have and are currently making sacrifices for the sake of others. Again, I don't believe there is nothing wrong with making sacrifices for others, but what are the reasons as to why we're doing so is the question at hand. Are we doing it because we genuinely care and want to help others, or are we making them in hopes of receiving something later on down the road? The reasons as to why we do certain things definitely do matter, and it is no different when it comes to making sacrifices. Now from my perspective, the thing with making sacrifices is that they often have dire consequences that follow them. Sure there are going to be sacrifices that aren't as serious and have no long term bearing on our lives. When we think of sacrifices that are not worth making, we don't typically associate that with something that is less serious. When we think of this way of thinking in regards to sacrifices, we think of things that can potentially be a detriment to our lives. One of the biggest examples that I can think of now is this current pandemic that we're currently in. Whether you believe the Coronavirus to be a serious threat in general isn't all that important. The thing to keep in mind is how willing are people to sacrifice themselves when it comes their life and the potential downsides of the virus.
Now continuing with the virus, my goal here isn't to deter anyone when it comes to whether or not the threat if truly real. Some people have various ideas on if the virus is truly real or not, and that's okay. People are entitled to have their own opinions and that is fine. I happen to be one of those people that thinks this is major crisis that has had deadly consequences, which means that I'm on the side or erring with caution when it comes to the virus. My objective with this week's topic is simply to bring awareness to the fact that not all sacrifices are worth making. I personally feel that there is no shame, nor does it make you less of an honorable person if you know when something is beyond you. I call that being smart and having self awareness. The same logic applies when it comes to dealing with people. We're always going to sacrifice for others, but there are going to be some occasions where it is okay for you to say no to others. As I brought up earlier, the reasons behind why we do things are what matter the most. I believe that the thing to be mindful is that sacrifices are just like anything else in your life that requires evaluation. We have to think about the reasons why we make sacrifices, and then we have to weigh when they're worth making, and when they are not.
That is pretty much all that I have to contribute to this topic of why I believe that all sacrifices are worth making. I hope that I was able to convey this message in a way that was understandable for you. I'd also like to thank you all once again for stopping by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! If any of you have anything that you'd like to contribute to this topic, please feel free to do so in the comment section. You can also hit me up on Twitter at the handle @BradrickH. Well I hope you all have a happy Mother's Day weekend. I know that with the way things are going right now that it's hard to see the bright side of life at times. We just have to do what we can to get through this. I'll see you all on the next topic. Stay safe, and peace out!

Why Challenging Moments In Your Life Should Bring The Biggest Learning Experiences.
I would dare say that the majority of us know that there are always going to be challenges that we have to face in life. Some of the most important challenges we face are going to be individual challenges that only we alone must endure. Then, there are going to be some challenging moments that we as a collective have to face. There are many different ways that the challenges that we face can be viewed. Adding to that notion, depending on the person and the challenge at hand, most of us would prefer not to even face them. Regardless of if you're someone that embraces challenges or run away from them, it is inevitable that you're going to have them as long as you're alive. Now I will admit that I totally understand that some challenges are worthy of shying away from if possible. For example, if a belligerent person that was intoxicated challenged you to a fight, you may do better to just walk away from a challenge of that nature. However, challenging moments that are unavoidable can't be viewed as something that you can just step away from. You have to be willing to face them whether they're for better or worse. As I've gotten older, my viewpoint on challenging moments has evolved quite a bit. Rather than just viewing them as challenges alone, I see them as a big opportunity for growth.
Hello once again internet family! This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to once again welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This is a platform that I use to give my perspective on a subject matter that I feel would be helpful to us all. Thank you once again to those of you that are joining me. So continuing with the theme of the Coronavirus pandemic that we're currently in, I'm going to use my soapbox to talk about the reopening of various states by their governors. Now I live in Texas, and the governor here announced a plan to start reopening in phases. In other states like Georgia for example, there is a more aggressive reopening taking place. I believe many of the businesses in Georgia are operational in limited capacity now. I'm not going to get into whether or not I believe there should be an reopening of the United States economy. That's pretty irrelevant at this point since everyone has their own opinion. However, I do want to use my soapbox to say something that I've said in previous topics that I've covered. Please, please, please do what you feel is best for you and those that you care for. If you don't feel that it is a safe option to reopen the economy so soon, don't allow a politician to push you into a situation that you feel unsafe with. I know that a lot of beaches and state parks are opening now, and I know that a lot of us have cabin fever from this pandemic. I just encourage you all to use your own judgement and not the persuasion of a politician. We have five senses, so we have to use them how we see fit for our own lives. Well that is pretty much it for my soapbox, so lets go ahead and tackle the topic of why challenging moments in our lives should bring the best learning experiences.
Now we've discussed briefly how there are always going to be challenges to endure in life. More importantly than the challenges themselves, the way we handle and react towards those challenges matter quite a bit. Some of us just see the challenges that we face as obstacles that just have to be overcome. While I don't see anything wrong with viewing challenges in that light, I also believe that there are also lessons that can be taken away from the things we endure. From my own perspective, the challenges aren't always the end all, be all. They're not only obstacles that we have to face, but they're opportunities that can allow you to learn about the kind of person you are. Now again, I do understand that not everyone will see them in this kind of way. In fact, I would go far as to say that most of us do not process the challenges that we face on a deeper level. For one thing, depending on the extent of what kind of challenges that you're facing, you probably just want to get it over with and move on with your life. Again, this state of mind is totally understandable, but one thing to always keep in mind is that for as long as you're alive and breathing, challenges are always going to be present in your life.
Now I'm going to get into the main theme that brought me to want to address the importance of viewing challenging moments as learning experiences. Remember where I spoke earlier about some challenges being individuals challenges, and others being collective? If we think about the global pandemic that we're currently in the midst of, I would say that this situation is one that we are facing as a collective. Now I don't want to deviate or take away from the idea that this pandemic is bringing individual challenges that we must face. This situation is definitely affecting our lives as both individuals and a collective. However, the fact of the matter is that this is something that we all have had to make some adjustments in our lives to, which ultimately means that this is something we have to face together. Now there are all kind of ways and theories on what the Coronavirus pandemic means in terms of why it is happening. You can see it from anything from just something random happening, or something that has a greater meaning behind happening. Again, there are various ways of viewing this reasoning for this crisis. I personally have the mindset of there is not only a reason for why this entire pandemic is happening, but also that there are lessons that we can take away from it.
So why should challenging moments in our lives bring the biggest learning experiences? Well from my own personal perspective, I believe that the challenges that we endure should always end with us being better people from them. I wrote on my Twitter a couple of weeks back that wise people will emerge from this pandemic with a different perspective on life, while the unwise will go back to their normal way of thinking. My reason for tweeting this is that if you take a bit of time and look at the entire sum of this crisis that we're in, there is undoubtedly something that we should take away from this that changes us for the better. Now what exactly that may be is entirely up to us as individuals. I personally feel that for those of us that aren't accustomed to dealing with global crisis of this proportion should emerge from this with a different outlook on life. I'm sure that most of you have heard people that survived near death experiences say that they will never take life for granted again. I'm sure that there are people out there that have actually contracted the virus and survived can probably give their own testament on that. However, even for those of us that haven't contracted Covid-19 can give our own story on how this is one of those situations that altered our lives for a period of time. I encourage everyone to start viewing the challenges in you life as an opportunity for learning and growth.
Well that is pretty much all I have for the topic on why challenging moments should bring the biggest learning experiences. I hope that I was able to present this topic in a manner that was understandable for everyone that read it. I also like to thank those of you that once again stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I also hope that you all are staying strong and staying safe during this uncomfortable period of time that we're in.
The Importance Of Knowing When There Is Better For You Out There.
I think that we can all agree with the idea that we as human-beings are very emotional beings. Now there are always variances when it comes to emotions and how they play a role in our lives. Some people are more emotional than others, but the fact remains that to be human is to have emotions. Try as we may, emotions are sometimes hard for us to grasp or understand. Furthermore, depending on the person and their level of understanding when it comes to their emotions, controlling emotions can be a daunting task as well. For the good majority of us that exist within this world, our emotions are usually the driving factor in the choices that we make. You will be hard pressed to find a person that is the same every single day. Depending on how a person feels emotionally at the time you encounter them plays a huge role in how that person will react. Now why do I bring all of this up about emotions? Well simply stated, our emotions and the lack of control of them often keeps us in situations that are no longer beneficial for us. In other words, our emotions can allow us to become attached to something or someone that may no longer be worthy of our time and energy. This is why I feel that it is of importance for us to know when there is something better for us that exists within this world.
What's going on everyone? This is Brad H. coming at you all once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to present you all with a topic that I think would be beneficial in helping us to keep moving forward. I think that most of us can admit that we could use all the inspiration that we can get during these times we're living in now. So for my soapbox this week, I'm going to continue with the theme that I've brought up in the last couple of topics, which has to do with the Coronovirus pandemic that we're currently in. So I saw a segment on CNN last week where a reporter was on location at a church and interviewed a woman that was a member of that church. We're all aware that most states are under stay at home orders in order to curve the spread of the virus. However, this particular church was having a night service despite social distancing being encouraged by the government and media. Anyway, this woman that was being interviewed was defiant in her belief that she was within her right to attend church, and she went on to say that she wasn't concerned about contracting the virus. The reporter then asked her about the idea of her spreading it to someone else. You can probably tell how that went, but the point I want to make is that we have to protect one another during this time. Just because you may not be worried about contracting the virus doesn't mean that you won't spread it to another person. It is clear that people react in different ways to this, so while you may be okay contracting it, that may not be the case for another person. Just thought I would bring that up quickly, so lets transition into this week's topic of knowing when there is better for you.
Now I brought up earlier how our emotions are often a guiding factor in the things and people that we give our time and attention to. When we feel emotionally attached to something or someone, we often govern our actions in a different manner than we would if those emotions weren't involved. Just think for a second of all the people in life that you feel some form of attachment to. You are going to treat them differently than someone that you have no form of emotional attachment to. Now there is nothing wrong with having an emotional attachment to other people. Again, we are humans, not machines. Some people will try and make it seem like having an emotional attachment to others is bad, but I'm not one of those people that has a unrealistic viewpoint when it comes to that. However, I do feel that there is a big difference between having an attachment to something or someone, and on the flip side of that, being overly obsessed with something. I believe the potential downsides of being attached to things creep in when we fail to have a healthy balance of being emotional.
Now again, emotions are a part of life, but you don't want to be someone that is a slave to your emotions. See from my perspective, when you are a slave to your emotions, you can find yourself easily in situations and circumstances that you can outgrow eventually. One of the biggest examples that I can think of right now is something that all of us are experiencing now, or we've went through it in our life before. I'm sure most of you know where I'm headed with this, but just in case you don't know yet what I'm referring to, I'm talking about being in love with someone. Now not everyone will experience what I am about to say, but not everyone that you fall in love with is the person that you're meant to spend the rest of your life with. People sometimes grow apart, and there are numerous reasons why this happens. Often times life just drives people away from one another. I know that isn't something that most of us like to think about, but we all know that this is one of the hard truths that come along with living life. Now from my perspective, one of the worst things we as people can do is stay in a situation that is no longer befitting to us. This ultimately brings us to the main theme of this topic of the importance of knowing when there is better for you out there.
So why is it of importance to know when there is something better for you out there in this world? From my viewpoint on this, knowing when something greater awaits you helps you to remove yourself from the things and people that are no longer on your wavelength. Now some people will say that walking away from things and people that no longer serve you is easy right? Well remember how we talked at length about emotions? Anyone that is or has been emotionally attached to anything will admit that it isn't always easy to just leave something that you're attached to. However, a person that has a grasp on their emotions and not a slave to them not only loves themselves enough to remove themselves from situations beneath them, but they also look towards the future with optimism. One important thing that many of us forget is that there is always upside in this life. Now in saying that, I'm not saying you shouldn't never be content with what you have. However, what I am saying is that if you find that people and circumstances in your life are no longer aligned with the person that you've become, it is perfectly okay to step away from those situations. This is definitely not an easy thing to do, but understanding that the possibilities for better are endless with give us all the motivation we need to carry on.
That is pretty much all that I got for you all this week. I hope that those of you that made it this far enjoyed the topic and found some meaning in it. This has once again been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am Brad H., and I'd like to once again thank all of you that stopped through. If any of you have any comments or feedback to contribute, please do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect with me, hit me up at the handle @BradrickH. Well it is time for me to sign off for now, so I will speak with you all on the next topic. Please stay safe out there, and don't forget that now, probably more than ever is the time for us to look out for one another. Have a great week ahead, and I'll talk to you all soon. Peace!
