The Importance Of Working Towards Widening Your Life Vision.

One thing that many of you definitely wouldn't know about me is that I used to be a hardcore gamer when I was younger. As like a good many other kids that grew up in the 80s and the 90s, I had a deep passion for video games. My love for gaming fizzled out in the mid 2000s, but there are so many of them from my past that I can recall playing. One of the games that I played a lot back around 2006-07 was Madden NFL 06. One of the unique things about this game was at the time it was the only football game that had a feature dubbed as QB Vision. This relates to a cone that represented where the quarterback in the game was looking when scanning the field for a receiver to throw to. Now the best quarterbacks in the game had a much wider vision of the field compared to those that didn't. One feature I loved about this game was that there were drills that a quarterback to do to enhance their QB vision. Now you may be wondering why am I going on a spill about a video game. Well much like what was included in the game, I believe that every single one of us has a degree of vision when it comes to the scope of how we process life. Also, I believe much like the game that if you have a much wider vision of life, then you'll be able to process things more better. Keeping with the theme of the game, I believe that keeping a wider vision is important, which also means that I believe that an individual can always widen their life's vision if they have a desire to do so.

What's going on once again good people? It's Brad H. back to bring you all another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here to give my perspective on a topic that I believe would be beneficial to our lives. I hope that you all have been doing great and staying healthy since the last topic. So for this week's soapbox section, I'm going to give my opinion the the NBA Playoffs! During my soapbox in the last topic that was posted, I predicted that Milwaukee, Brooklyn, the Clippers and the Denver Nuggets would win their first round series. Well we also saw the Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz win their first round series. It's been two weeks and now the only teams left in the Western Conference are the Jazz, Clippers, Suns and Nuggets. In the Eastern Conference we had the 76ers, Hawks, Nets and Bucks. I would love to go more in depth on what's happening, but since there isn't enough time with this topic, I'm just going to say who I think are going to the Conference Finals. I got the Suns and Clippers for the West, and the 76ers and Nets for the East. There have been quite a few surprises during this playoff season, but that's why we pay attention, right? We will continue to see how this unfolds in the coming days. Again, I wish I could go more into this, but the theme of this blog is perspective and motivation. So with that being said, lets go more into the importance of working towards widening your life vision.

Anyone that has frequently read my writings will likely know that I not only have a love for sports, but I have also mentioned in previous topics how I believe that much of sports can be a comparison to life. This definitely does not apply in the literal sense, but more from a sense of what sports in general represent for those that participate in them. Much of what sports represents for athletes is overcoming challenges to achieve a goal. This mindset can also be applied to the everyday person when it comes to life. Now I talked at length earlier about QB Vision from a video game. That doesn't apply to what we're aiming to convey in this week's topic, but I think it could be a good setup as to what we're addressing for this week. It is for that reason why I decided to use that as a backdrop to the main theme of the topic of enhancing our life's vision. There were various drills in that particular game where a quarterback could improve their vision of the field. As with the game that we're using as a backdrop, we have to try and view improvement in this area as drills that we're running towards improvement. Since we are all different and unique in our own respect, defining what "drills" you must run to improve is something that is tailored to individuals. The primary goal with this week's topic is to point out the importance of improving our life vision.

I believe that one of the biggest strengths that a person can have is the ability to maintain a degree of openness when it comes to life. What I mean in saying this is that I believe that there is something to be said about someone that can view life from a three-dimensional viewpoint. From my perspective, having a more thinking three-dimensional viewpoint means that a person has the ability to look deepen into various aspects of life and situations that occur. Now there are varying levels to being a three-dimensional thinker, so we're in no way indicating that this is a world full of people that aren't this way. However, what I do know is that there are many of us in this world that have limiting outlooks when it comes to approaching situations in life. Going back to the video game example that is being used, and this even applies to real life football. Do you think that a quarterback that only stares down one of his options will be effective against a defense compared to a quarterback that looks over the field more? Now I do realize that a quarterback's offensive line plays a role, but I think we can all agree that the quarterback that has a wider viewpoint will be more effective. The same applies to our lives when it comes to the often precarious situations we find ourselves being in.

Quarterbacks, video games and being three-dimensional thinkers have set up what I am ultimately headed towards, which is the importance of why we should aim towards widening our life vision. While I am a believer that being narrow minded can be a good thing when it comes to having to focus on something intently, I believe that widening our vision allows a bigger point of perspective to view things from. For example, a person that is has yet to open up their mind towards having a wider vision will probably be someone that only sees certain things for their face value. On the other hand, a person with a greater life vision can probably look beyond what they see. Much of this comes down to detail, and someone with a wider life vision will probably pay more attention to details. Now this doesn't apply to any one particular thing. This is something that can be included in so many areas of life. It ultimately up to the individual to determine what is deserving of having a wider vision. Before closing, I want to point out that the best way to work towards bettering your life vision requires a person having a desire to do so first and foremost. You can be a person that has no desire to be a more open-minded individual, and that is totally fine. However, I believe from my perspective that for those that are willing to develop that potential of having a better life vision will see changes in their lives that otherwise may not have ever happened. This is why I believe that it is of importance for us to steadily work towards widening that life vision.

That is what I got for you all this time around. I hope that you all enjoyed this, and I also hope that I was able to present this in a way that was both meaningful and understandable. Thank you once again to all of you that stopped through for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! Maintaining Discipline Requires Sacrifice, But It's Worth It.

Most of us know by now that there are always pros and cons that come along with the decisions that we make. With nearly every choice that we make in our live regardless of how much it may benefit us, there will always be some kind of sacrifice that comes along with it. If you look at or study anyone that has achieved a significant amount of success at something they're good at, most of them mention the amount of sacrifice that was required on their part to reach their peak. I believe that this also applies when it comes to maintaining discipline in our lives as well. We all hear or have heard about the importance of being disciplined in life, but how many of us really know what discipline is? By definition, discipline is defined as being able to "train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way." There are other definitions and meanings as well, however for the sake of the point that I will be discussing this week, I'm going to stick to the aforementioned definition since I think it aligns more with this week's topic. The ability for one to trains themselves to have discipline is certain aspects of life can be constant challenge, and it's a journey that isn't for the faint of heart. There is an often extreme level of sacrifice and time required to maintain discipline, but the work and effort put towards it will be worth it in the end.

Hey, what's good my folks out there? It is I Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome everyone to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! A big thanks goes to everyone that stopped by to tune in once again to what I have to say for another week. Hope everyone has been staying strong, maintaining, and keep things positive in your world since the last post. In the previous post before this one, I had mentioned that I had an upcoming birthday. It's been nearly a week since it past, and I must say that I had a great birthday this year. I mentioned earlier that I'm not one to get super enthusiastic about my birthday, but I must admit that my family truly went out of their way to make the day special for me. I'm truly grateful for them, as well as being able to live and see another year on this Earth. In a time where so many are dying young, it is a blessing to us all being able to inhale and exhale daily. Another thing I briefly talked about was the 5K that took place earlier this month back on the 4th. This is the annual Kinsel Ford 5K that I've been doing since 2012. I always try to participate in this yearly race since it always falls near my birthday. This year's event was another success. I moved into another age group since first running in it, and I finished 10th in the men for my group this year. That was a pleasant surprise since I really didn't push it too hard this year. The most important thing was to have fun. Well I've talked enough for me for now, so it's time to delve more into this week's topic of maintaining discipline.

As I normally do with any of the topics that I talk about on here, I want to point out that a person's individual viewpoints will always differ from person to person. The idea with this topic and the rest isn't to focus too much on what is right or wrong, but rather to encourage others to view certain topics in a light they may not have considered before. I'm not saying that my viewpoint is right, nor am I implying that the way I see things is the correct way of looking at life. I'm just an everyday average guy hoping to inspire myself and others. If anyone has any comments or feedback on this or any other topic that I've talked about, please feel free to leave them in the comment box. Now for some insight on how this week's topic came to be. Normally I can point to a life experience or someone that I'm close to as to how I came to talk about a specific topic. That happens to not be the case this week. This week's topic on maintaining discipline is just something that came to my mind out of the blue, and I figured that it would be something that could maybe inspire those that struggle with maintaining discipline. As I've stated before in past posts, my eyes and ears are closest to me so anything that I write about here applies to myself as well. The art of maintaining discipline can be a tough habit to maintain, but doing it consistently can definitely help in improving our lives for the better.

So now that we've established what entails having discipline, I think it is necessary to talk about why having discipline in our lives is so important. From my perspective, the task of practicing discipline daily helps greatly in strengthening our minds and organizing our lives. An individual that disciplines him or herself consistently practices routines that increases their potential to improve their life daily. Like I mentioned earlier, most people that are skilled at something often have developed and maintained a level of discipline that has helped make them successful in whatever their particular craft may be. There is a saying that goes "repetition is the mother of skill." I believe that saying totally coincides with being a disciplined individual. Think about boxers that have had success in the sport of boxing. I'm sure that none of those guys woke up instantly skilled at their craft. Like every other athlete or person that has achieved greatness, it took daily trips to the gym and working with their trainers in order to become skilled at boxing. In order to get to that point, strict discipline is required. But as I stated earlier, with every pro that comes in life, there will always be a con that comes along with it. Being a disciplined individual is truly great, but it does come with a lot of sacrifice.

Now making sacrifices may not be hard for some people. However, I think that most of us struggle with sometimes having to give up certain things in order to become better at something. For example, lets say that you're a person that is trying to lose weight and become healthier, but you also loves eating sweets. You already know that in order to become a more healthier person, you're going to have to either give up on or cut back on eating sweets. This is a prime example of being willing to sacrifice in order to get to a better place. This is exactly where the being worth it aspect comes into play. There can often be a great deal of discomfort and even pain sometimes when it comes to making sacrifices, however, any sacrifice that a person is willing to make that makes their life better is worth it. From my perspective, most of us look at the sum of all the parts rather than the individual parts that lead to something greater. Many of us focus too much on what we're losing when we make sacrifices rather than what could be gained from them. It's kinda like the glass half full of empty mentality; we direct too much energy towards the things we don't have instead of appreciating the things we do. In some ways, discipline and sacrifice go hand in had with this.

Now I'm sure that many of you that may be reading this have no problem with maintaining discipline in your lives. If that's the case for you, then I truly applaud and commend you for that. For others that may struggle with being disciplined in various aspects of life, I want you to know that you are not alone. I classify myself as a fairly disciplined person, but I do have lapses when I fall into bad habits. If that is something that you can identify with, it's totally okay. We are all human and fall short at times. The biggest point that I want to get across in this week's post is the importance of recognizing the benefits of practicing discipline. If you are looking to better yourself in certain aspects of your life, my suggestion would be to take that step and really push it. Just be aware that there will be a sacrifice that is required whenever you're striving to become more disciplined. The sacrifices that are required may be your time, certain pleasure or indulgences that you enjoy, and even relationships with others. Be cognizant of that before you take on the task of being more disciplined. Keeping with the theme of boxing that I referenced to earlier, I'm going to leave this week's topic with a quote from legendary boxer Mike Tyson that deals with being disciplined. The quote goes; "Discipline is going in there and doing something that you don't wanna do, but you do it like you love it."

Well we've arrived at the end of this week topic folks. I wanna give thanks to everyone that stopped by for another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! As always, my wish is that there was some meaning and understanding that could be gained from this topic, as well as the rest of the topics that I've talked about. If anyone has any comments or feedback on this or any other topics, please feel free to drop them in the comment box. Well depending on where you live, it is beginning to get warmer so try to get outdoors this weekend and enjoy the weather. Summer will be right around the corner, and we all know how brutal it can get during those months. Go ahead and enjoy before it gets here. Alright I'm out for this time folks, so until next time, I wish you all peace, wellness, and positive thoughts. See you all in the next one.

Working On Our Weaknesses, and Exploiting Our Strengths.

Strength and weakness; two words that comprise the various qualities and traits that we all possess. Because we live in a world that puts so much emphasis on being vain, many people believe that they're either all strength and no weakness, or all weaknesses and no strengths. Regardless of how strong or weak a person deems themselves to be as a whole, we all possess both characteristics in some capacity. While most people view weakness as something bad and see strengths as something positive, I believe that there can be pros and cons to each. As I've evolved as a person, I've come to recognize that it's okay having strengths and weaknesses. More importantly, I've come to realize the importance of working on ourselves to enhance our weaknesses, and using our strengths to our advantage.

What's going on guys? Welcome to another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! Hope everyone is doing well and maintaining. Like I always seem to mention in my posts; if you're giving this post a reading right now, I greatly appreciate you taking out the time to do that. This is something that I cannot say enough. I know that it has been a month or so since I've last posted, but I'm back at it again and feeling motivated once more. One of the reasons for the absence was that a close relative recently gave birth to a son. Most of the family pulled together to help her out during that time, which is something that family should always do in my opinion. Since the birth, everything has pretty much gotten back to normal for everyone, and the baby was born completely healthy. That is truly a blessing! Alright, lets go ahead and get into this week's topic.

So for this time around, we'll be talking about strengths and weaknesses, as well as the importance of recognizing and using them to our advantages. Before I go any further, I want to let it be known that whatever strengths or weaknesses that an individual may possess is completely subjective to their own lives. The idea with this post is not to gauge another person's qualities, but rather encourage others (as well as myself) to look within to determine what strengths and weaknesses we possess. Again, it's totally subjective. Now I'm a firm believer that in order to properly fix a problem that exists within our lives, we must first acknowledge that there are problems first. As I mentioned earlier, it seems that most of us don't like admitting to having weaknesses. If this is indeed the case, then how can we work on any weaknesses we may have if we're not making the effort to address them?

On the flip side of our weaknesses lies our strengths. While many people are easily able to determine what their personal strengths are in this life, there are others that seem to have a harder time recognizing them. There are some people that will even concede that they do not have any real strengths to contribute to themselves or this world, which is something that I personally disagree with. I believe that one of the biggest traits that a person that doesn't acknowledge having any strengths is probably a lack of confidence. That right there is an entirely different topic however, one that might be addressed in a future post. At any rate, there are many of us whom possess good and positive strengths that we don't even use to better our lives. Again, in order to use a strength to our advantage, we must first know what our strengths are.

Now that we've talked about strengths and weaknesses, it's time to get down to the heart of what I'm attempting to get across. Now just because we all possess various weaknesses in our lives, it doesn't mean that those weaknesses cannot be worked on. Some people have no trouble at all knowing what their weaknesses are, but still make the conscience choice to not to work on betting those weaknesses. I know that it isn't possible to work on every single weakness we may have. However, I'm talking about the weaknesses that actually play a role in making our lives better. As for our strengths, many of us may know what areas of life we excel at, however, we still choose not to exploit those strengths in a way that will help ourselves. Life is a process that deals with growth and change. How can we change if we don't work on better our weaknesses, and how can we grow as people if we do not exploit our talents? If you ask me, there can't be any growth or change if we maintain the same mindset.

From my perspective, there's nothing wrong having weaknesses. However, I think the problems creep in when we decide that we're not even going to attempt to work on strengthening those weaknesses. In my opinion, the same logic applies to our strengths. If we're not using our strengths to our advantage in life, then possessing those strengths really isn't serving us any purpose. We have to make the decision to work on our strengths and weaknesses daily. Remember that each new day is another opportunity to either get better, or get worse. If you have a hard time identifying your strengths and weaknesses, spend some time daily looking for areas in your life that may need improvement. Finally, never allow another person to make you feel bad because of any weaknesses you may possess. We're all flawed individuals, and just because you don't excel in an area of life, that doesn't mean you're any lesser than anyone else.

I think I've written enough for now, so I'm going to go ahead and sign off for this time. My hope is that there was some meaning and understanding gained from reading this. Once again I want to thank those of you that stop by, and I appreciate your continued support. This has been another edition of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'. I'll see you all next time. Peace!
