The topic of making excuses has been one that I've brought up on many occasions on here in the past. We're all guilty of using them at times for our own personal reasons. It's almost like excuses are the equivalent to a warm blanket during the cold winter months. They provide us with a false sense of comfort when we know that we've let ourselves and others down. The majority of us use excuses as a way out of holding ourselves accountable for our shortcomings. With saying that, I'm not implying that anyone is a bad person for making excuses. Like I have already mentioned, we're all guilty of using excuses in our lives. More importantly than the excuses that we use to cover up for our flaws are the reasons behind the excuses that we give. If you're going to give excuses for something in your life, there is likely going to be a reason behind it. Everyone knows about the global pandemic that we're currently in due to the Covid-19 virus. Because of this deadly virus that has claimed so any lives, there were shutdowns of countries and governments all over the world. Things have begun to open up a bit, but there are still areas of the world where there are lock downs being implemented. These shutdowns have forced us to stay at home to try and curve the spread of the virus. There are some people that have used the global shutdown as a reason to put off doing the things we need to do. I'm here to give my perspective on why I believe that a shutdown is not a proper excuse for you to let yourself down.
What's going on good people? This is Brad H. back once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to give my perspective on a topic that not only has been on my mind as of late, but also to hopefully provide a bit of inspiration to those of you that have stopped by. I hope that things have been going as good as possible for you all since the last topic that I covered. I realize that things aren't back to normal due to the pandemic, but hopefully some of you are beginning to experience a small bit of normalcy with various things opening back up. I still encourage everyone to stay as safe as possible despite the reopening, and do not think that this crisis is over because things are reopening. This pandemic is far from over, and letting down our guard is not the thing we need to do now. So for the soapbox this week, I want to continue with the theme of the pandemic and how it relates to sports. Most of you that are frequent readers here know that I am a huge sports fan. You can imagine how much I'm longing for sports right now since they have been away for a couple of months now. I know many other sports fans are getting antsy as well, but I also think that now is a time where we have to put our personal desires to the side for the betterment of everyone. We don't want to see more of our favorite athletes getting sick, and we surely don't want to see sports open back up only to be suspended again because an athlete tests positive. Sports will come back eventually, so lets have a bit of patience and understanding for what's going on. So now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets talk about why a shutdown isn't an excuse for a letdown.
Since the global pandemic that we're currently going through is something that we all pretty much have in common in regards to it being an experience that we're all having to endure, I'm primarily going to be using it as a point of reference on why a shutdown isn't an excuse for a letdown. Now I mentioned earlier how various businesses and activities are beginning to open back up during the pandemic. Despite the frequent openings that are taking place all over the world, there are still many places that remain in a shutdown. We constantly see and hear on the news and radio about the various shutdowns that the pandemic have brought. From my personal perspective, there is an aspect of the not only the shutdown, but also the pandemic in general that we don't see brought up often enough. What I'm referring to is the mental aspect of the shutdown. I believe that there is not enough talk about how the crisis as a whole is affecting people mentally. Now I do realize that not everyone will be mentally affected by the closing of things in the same manner. However, we do have to acknowledge that the idea of not being able to do certain things that we're accustomed to doing can play on our psyche.
Now the reason that I'm primarily using the pandemic that we're in as an example in this post is because the shutdowns that have came along with the pandemic have put many people in a position where they have to be still. If you're not able to go and do things that you're accustomed to doing, what do you do next? Not everyone can just come up with other things to do for whatever reasons. For some people this has turned into a period of time where we are being a little too still, and like I stated previously, it is playing on the psyche for many people. Now I talked earlier about how many of us use excuses as justification for our flaws and shortfalls right? Could it be possible that the global shutdown that has happened is being used as an excuse to letdown on our goals? From my own personal perspective, I believe that this has become a reality for many people worldwide. I also want you all to consider that the shutdown in and of itself isn't only physical in the sense where businesses, schools and gyms are shutting down. There's a psychological aspect that come along with watching the news and social media constantly repeating the fact that things have shutdown. Think of it as being similar to a light switch. When you shut off the switch, the room goes completely dim until you flick the switch again.
Continuing with the light switch comparison, it is time for those of us that have shutdown in whatever way we deem as relevant to our lives to flick on the switch again. It is time to leave behind the excuses and reasons as to why we aren't continuing to truck towards our goals. The reason why I feel that a shutdown isn't an excuse to let ourselves down is because there is always a way to self improve regardless of what is going on. If you're a person that goes to the gym frequently and find that the gyms are closed due to the virus, that doesn't mean you completely stop exercising. You find other ways to keep yourself active. There are all types of activities that can be done outdoors to keep you healthy, not to mention that there are numerous workout videos online that can be done right at home. That's just one example, but the main theme of this topic is to encourage everyone to drop the excuses just because things aren't going as they would normally during this period of time. The truth of the matter is that this may be our new normal for quite sometime, and we most definitely won't get anywhere if we use it as an excuse as to not keep pushing forward. So remember that a shutdown isn't an excuse for you to let yourself down. Keep yourself motivated, and keep on pressing forward towards the aspirations that you have.
That is all that I got for this week's topic on the idea that a shutdown isn't an excuse to letdown. I hope that I was able to bring this out in a way that was both meaningful and understanding for everyone. Thanks to you all once that stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I'm always grateful and appreciative to those of you that read my topics. If anyone has anything that they would like to add or contribute to this or any other topic that I've previously covered, please hit up the comment section. Not All Sacrifices Are Worth Making.
It's a known theme of life that nothing great happens without there being a level of sacrifice behind it. If we look throughout the history of major events that have occurred before and during our lifetime, people have always made great sacrifices in order for the greater good. Most of us in our own lives have had to make various sacrifices throughout our lives. Sometimes the sacrifices that we make are to our benefit, and there are others where we do it for the benefit of other people. I believe that we have to seek to have a healthy balance when it comes to making sacrifices. I look at it as being similar to the "give and take" approach when it comes to life. You have to be strive to be a person that has an equal level of give and take. It's never good to be too far either way when it comes to giving and taking. Now while I'm a person that believes that making various sacrifices is an honorable thing to do, I also believe that we sometimes make sacrifices that we know will have a bad outcome for us. It's almost like going into a battle that you're not entirely prepared for. There is a big difference between being brave and being irresponsible when it comes to making sacrifices. This is one of the reasons why I have come to realize that despite the act of making sacrifices being an honorable thing to do, not all sacrifices are worth making.
Hello once again everyone! This is Brad H. reporting once again, and I would like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am back once again to bring my perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful in keeping us moving forward in our lives. I hope that you all have been staying safe during this global crisis that we're in. Keeping with the theme of the Covid-19 pandemic that we're currently in, I'm going to use my soapbox to address the importance of listening to what the actual experts say in regards to this pandemic. In the last topic that I covered, I talked about how we shouldn't be so quick to think that everything is back to normal just because governors are opening states back up. Well I watched a video a couple of days ago where a nurse from the state of Georgia was telling what her experience has been like daily when she goes to work. She talked of how appalled she was that the governor of her state had reopened the state so quickly, and she urged people to continue to stay home so her job wouldn't be even more difficult that it already is. I bring this up to say that we should be paying more attention to what actual healthcare professionals say instead of what politicians are saying. Always be mindful that the nurses and doctors are more interested in saving lives, while politicians are more concerned with being elected. As I mentioned in the last topic, don't be so quick to think everything is back to normal because governors are opening up states. Continue to do what is best for you and your family regardless of what politicians urge. I also want to give a big shout out to all the nurses out there. Thank you all for all you do to care for others. Well that's it for my soapbox, so lets get into this week's topic of why not all sacrifices are worth making.
Before I get more into this week's topic of why sacrifices should be carefully thought about, I want to begin by saying that there will probably be quite a few of you that may disagree with me on this topic. I totally get why, and if that happens to be the case, I definitely understand. I just hope that the perspective that I bring on this topic is one that makes sense. I also want to point out the obvious, which is that as with the majority of the topics that I talk about on here, this subject is one that is purely subjective. Now I mentioned earlier how sacrifice is a theme of life if you would call it that. Sacrifice from others has always been needed when it comes to benefiting the greater good. Now when we talk about the topic of sacrifice, there many different layers that it entails. Like I mentioned earlier, many people sacrifice for other people to the point where the person that makes the sacrifices doesn't see any benefits from it. Then we have the sacrifices that we as people make in our individual lives on a daily basis. I'm of the mindset that the personal sacrifices that we make for ourselves are the ones that should take precedence in our lives. Now with saying that, I'm not implying that we shouldn't sacrifice for others, but as I mentioned earlier, there should be a healthy balance of give and take.
Now there are many of us right now that have and are currently making sacrifices for the sake of others. Again, I don't believe there is nothing wrong with making sacrifices for others, but what are the reasons as to why we're doing so is the question at hand. Are we doing it because we genuinely care and want to help others, or are we making them in hopes of receiving something later on down the road? The reasons as to why we do certain things definitely do matter, and it is no different when it comes to making sacrifices. Now from my perspective, the thing with making sacrifices is that they often have dire consequences that follow them. Sure there are going to be sacrifices that aren't as serious and have no long term bearing on our lives. When we think of sacrifices that are not worth making, we don't typically associate that with something that is less serious. When we think of this way of thinking in regards to sacrifices, we think of things that can potentially be a detriment to our lives. One of the biggest examples that I can think of now is this current pandemic that we're currently in. Whether you believe the Coronavirus to be a serious threat in general isn't all that important. The thing to keep in mind is how willing are people to sacrifice themselves when it comes their life and the potential downsides of the virus.
Now continuing with the virus, my goal here isn't to deter anyone when it comes to whether or not the threat if truly real. Some people have various ideas on if the virus is truly real or not, and that's okay. People are entitled to have their own opinions and that is fine. I happen to be one of those people that thinks this is major crisis that has had deadly consequences, which means that I'm on the side or erring with caution when it comes to the virus. My objective with this week's topic is simply to bring awareness to the fact that not all sacrifices are worth making. I personally feel that there is no shame, nor does it make you less of an honorable person if you know when something is beyond you. I call that being smart and having self awareness. The same logic applies when it comes to dealing with people. We're always going to sacrifice for others, but there are going to be some occasions where it is okay for you to say no to others. As I brought up earlier, the reasons behind why we do things are what matter the most. I believe that the thing to be mindful is that sacrifices are just like anything else in your life that requires evaluation. We have to think about the reasons why we make sacrifices, and then we have to weigh when they're worth making, and when they are not.
That is pretty much all that I have to contribute to this topic of why I believe that all sacrifices are worth making. I hope that I was able to convey this message in a way that was understandable for you. I'd also like to thank you all once again for stopping by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! If any of you have anything that you'd like to contribute to this topic, please feel free to do so in the comment section. You can also hit me up on Twitter at the handle @BradrickH. Well I hope you all have a happy Mother's Day weekend. I know that with the way things are going right now that it's hard to see the bright side of life at times. We just have to do what we can to get through this. I'll see you all on the next topic. Stay safe, and peace out!

Why Challenging Moments In Your Life Should Bring The Biggest Learning Experiences.
I would dare say that the majority of us know that there are always going to be challenges that we have to face in life. Some of the most important challenges we face are going to be individual challenges that only we alone must endure. Then, there are going to be some challenging moments that we as a collective have to face. There are many different ways that the challenges that we face can be viewed. Adding to that notion, depending on the person and the challenge at hand, most of us would prefer not to even face them. Regardless of if you're someone that embraces challenges or run away from them, it is inevitable that you're going to have them as long as you're alive. Now I will admit that I totally understand that some challenges are worthy of shying away from if possible. For example, if a belligerent person that was intoxicated challenged you to a fight, you may do better to just walk away from a challenge of that nature. However, challenging moments that are unavoidable can't be viewed as something that you can just step away from. You have to be willing to face them whether they're for better or worse. As I've gotten older, my viewpoint on challenging moments has evolved quite a bit. Rather than just viewing them as challenges alone, I see them as a big opportunity for growth.
Hello once again internet family! This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to once again welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This is a platform that I use to give my perspective on a subject matter that I feel would be helpful to us all. Thank you once again to those of you that are joining me. So continuing with the theme of the Coronavirus pandemic that we're currently in, I'm going to use my soapbox to talk about the reopening of various states by their governors. Now I live in Texas, and the governor here announced a plan to start reopening in phases. In other states like Georgia for example, there is a more aggressive reopening taking place. I believe many of the businesses in Georgia are operational in limited capacity now. I'm not going to get into whether or not I believe there should be an reopening of the United States economy. That's pretty irrelevant at this point since everyone has their own opinion. However, I do want to use my soapbox to say something that I've said in previous topics that I've covered. Please, please, please do what you feel is best for you and those that you care for. If you don't feel that it is a safe option to reopen the economy so soon, don't allow a politician to push you into a situation that you feel unsafe with. I know that a lot of beaches and state parks are opening now, and I know that a lot of us have cabin fever from this pandemic. I just encourage you all to use your own judgement and not the persuasion of a politician. We have five senses, so we have to use them how we see fit for our own lives. Well that is pretty much it for my soapbox, so lets go ahead and tackle the topic of why challenging moments in our lives should bring the best learning experiences.
Now we've discussed briefly how there are always going to be challenges to endure in life. More importantly than the challenges themselves, the way we handle and react towards those challenges matter quite a bit. Some of us just see the challenges that we face as obstacles that just have to be overcome. While I don't see anything wrong with viewing challenges in that light, I also believe that there are also lessons that can be taken away from the things we endure. From my own perspective, the challenges aren't always the end all, be all. They're not only obstacles that we have to face, but they're opportunities that can allow you to learn about the kind of person you are. Now again, I do understand that not everyone will see them in this kind of way. In fact, I would go far as to say that most of us do not process the challenges that we face on a deeper level. For one thing, depending on the extent of what kind of challenges that you're facing, you probably just want to get it over with and move on with your life. Again, this state of mind is totally understandable, but one thing to always keep in mind is that for as long as you're alive and breathing, challenges are always going to be present in your life.
Now I'm going to get into the main theme that brought me to want to address the importance of viewing challenging moments as learning experiences. Remember where I spoke earlier about some challenges being individuals challenges, and others being collective? If we think about the global pandemic that we're currently in the midst of, I would say that this situation is one that we are facing as a collective. Now I don't want to deviate or take away from the idea that this pandemic is bringing individual challenges that we must face. This situation is definitely affecting our lives as both individuals and a collective. However, the fact of the matter is that this is something that we all have had to make some adjustments in our lives to, which ultimately means that this is something we have to face together. Now there are all kind of ways and theories on what the Coronavirus pandemic means in terms of why it is happening. You can see it from anything from just something random happening, or something that has a greater meaning behind happening. Again, there are various ways of viewing this reasoning for this crisis. I personally have the mindset of there is not only a reason for why this entire pandemic is happening, but also that there are lessons that we can take away from it.
So why should challenging moments in our lives bring the biggest learning experiences? Well from my own personal perspective, I believe that the challenges that we endure should always end with us being better people from them. I wrote on my Twitter a couple of weeks back that wise people will emerge from this pandemic with a different perspective on life, while the unwise will go back to their normal way of thinking. My reason for tweeting this is that if you take a bit of time and look at the entire sum of this crisis that we're in, there is undoubtedly something that we should take away from this that changes us for the better. Now what exactly that may be is entirely up to us as individuals. I personally feel that for those of us that aren't accustomed to dealing with global crisis of this proportion should emerge from this with a different outlook on life. I'm sure that most of you have heard people that survived near death experiences say that they will never take life for granted again. I'm sure that there are people out there that have actually contracted the virus and survived can probably give their own testament on that. However, even for those of us that haven't contracted Covid-19 can give our own story on how this is one of those situations that altered our lives for a period of time. I encourage everyone to start viewing the challenges in you life as an opportunity for learning and growth.
Well that is pretty much all I have for the topic on why challenging moments should bring the biggest learning experiences. I hope that I was able to present this topic in a manner that was understandable for everyone that read it. I also like to thank those of you that once again stopped by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I also hope that you all are staying strong and staying safe during this uncomfortable period of time that we're in. If anyone has any comments or feedback to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment box. You can also reach out to me on Twitter at the handle @BradrickH if you'd like. Well I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Stay strong, and use the judgement that is right for you when it comes to this pandemic. I'll see you all in the next installment. Take care everyone, and peace out!

The Importance Of Knowing When There Is Better For You Out There.
I think that we can all agree with the idea that we as human-beings are very emotional beings. Now there are always variances when it comes to emotions and how they play a role in our lives. Some people are more emotional than others, but the fact remains that to be human is to have emotions. Try as we may, emotions are sometimes hard for us to grasp or understand. Furthermore, depending on the person and their level of understanding when it comes to their emotions, controlling emotions can be a daunting task as well. For the good majority of us that exist within this world, our emotions are usually the driving factor in the choices that we make. You will be hard pressed to find a person that is the same every single day. Depending on how a person feels emotionally at the time you encounter them plays a huge role in how that person will react. Now why do I bring all of this up about emotions? Well simply stated, our emotions and the lack of control of them often keeps us in situations that are no longer beneficial for us. In other words, our emotions can allow us to become attached to something or someone that may no longer be worthy of our time and energy. This is why I feel that it is of importance for us to know when there is something better for us that exists within this world.
What's going on everyone? This is Brad H. coming at you all once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am here once again to present you all with a topic that I think would be beneficial in helping us to keep moving forward. I think that most of us can admit that we could use all the inspiration that we can get during these times we're living in now. So for my soapbox this week, I'm going to continue with the theme that I've brought up in the last couple of topics, which has to do with the Coronovirus pandemic that we're currently in. So I saw a segment on CNN last week where a reporter was on location at a church and interviewed a woman that was a member of that church. We're all aware that most states are under stay at home orders in order to curve the spread of the virus. However, this particular church was having a night service despite social distancing being encouraged by the government and media. Anyway, this woman that was being interviewed was defiant in her belief that she was within her right to attend church, and she went on to say that she wasn't concerned about contracting the virus. The reporter then asked her about the idea of her spreading it to someone else. You can probably tell how that went, but the point I want to make is that we have to protect one another during this time. Just because you may not be worried about contracting the virus doesn't mean that you won't spread it to another person. It is clear that people react in different ways to this, so while you may be okay contracting it, that may not be the case for another person. Just thought I would bring that up quickly, so lets transition into this week's topic of knowing when there is better for you.
Now I brought up earlier how our emotions are often a guiding factor in the things and people that we give our time and attention to. When we feel emotionally attached to something or someone, we often govern our actions in a different manner than we would if those emotions weren't involved. Just think for a second of all the people in life that you feel some form of attachment to. You are going to treat them differently than someone that you have no form of emotional attachment to. Now there is nothing wrong with having an emotional attachment to other people. Again, we are humans, not machines. Some people will try and make it seem like having an emotional attachment to others is bad, but I'm not one of those people that has a unrealistic viewpoint when it comes to that. However, I do feel that there is a big difference between having an attachment to something or someone, and on the flip side of that, being overly obsessed with something. I believe the potential downsides of being attached to things creep in when we fail to have a healthy balance of being emotional.
Now again, emotions are a part of life, but you don't want to be someone that is a slave to your emotions. See from my perspective, when you are a slave to your emotions, you can find yourself easily in situations and circumstances that you can outgrow eventually. One of the biggest examples that I can think of right now is something that all of us are experiencing now, or we've went through it in our life before. I'm sure most of you know where I'm headed with this, but just in case you don't know yet what I'm referring to, I'm talking about being in love with someone. Now not everyone will experience what I am about to say, but not everyone that you fall in love with is the person that you're meant to spend the rest of your life with. People sometimes grow apart, and there are numerous reasons why this happens. Often times life just drives people away from one another. I know that isn't something that most of us like to think about, but we all know that this is one of the hard truths that come along with living life. Now from my perspective, one of the worst things we as people can do is stay in a situation that is no longer befitting to us. This ultimately brings us to the main theme of this topic of the importance of knowing when there is better for you out there.
So why is it of importance to know when there is something better for you out there in this world? From my viewpoint on this, knowing when something greater awaits you helps you to remove yourself from the things and people that are no longer on your wavelength. Now some people will say that walking away from things and people that no longer serve you is easy right? Well remember how we talked at length about emotions? Anyone that is or has been emotionally attached to anything will admit that it isn't always easy to just leave something that you're attached to. However, a person that has a grasp on their emotions and not a slave to them not only loves themselves enough to remove themselves from situations beneath them, but they also look towards the future with optimism. One important thing that many of us forget is that there is always upside in this life. Now in saying that, I'm not saying you shouldn't never be content with what you have. However, what I am saying is that if you find that people and circumstances in your life are no longer aligned with the person that you've become, it is perfectly okay to step away from those situations. This is definitely not an easy thing to do, but understanding that the possibilities for better are endless with give us all the motivation we need to carry on.
That is pretty much all that I got for you all this week. I hope that those of you that made it this far enjoyed the topic and found some meaning in it. This has once again been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I am Brad H., and I'd like to once again thank all of you that stopped through. If any of you have any comments or feedback to contribute, please do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect with me, hit me up at the handle @BradrickH. Well it is time for me to sign off for now, so I will speak with you all on the next topic. Please stay safe out there, and don't forget that now, probably more than ever is the time for us to look out for one another. Have a great week ahead, and I'll talk to you all soon. Peace!

The Importance Of Adapting To Rough Circumstances.
For as song as I have been alive, I've consistently heard throughout my life that we as human-beings are adaptable. The same way that animals adapt to their environment in order to ensure their survival, we as humans possess the same type of adaptability. Now I will admit that despite the many differences that exist between animals and humans, there are many similarities as well. Now I could be wrong with what I am about to say, but I believe that animals do better at adapting than we do. Again I could be wrong, but I do believe that to be the case. We could probably could up with a slew of reasons as to why animals are more adaptable, but the reasons are pretty pointless in regards to addressing this topic. As the entire world is aware of right now, we are all being affected in some way by the Coronavirus pandemic that has brought life as we know it for most of us to a standstill. We all have our individuals stories on how this global catastrophe is affecting our everyday lives, and it is truly something that the good majority of us have never witnessed in our lives. Beyond the stories and how we're being affected by this virus, we all have our own personal reactions and way to coping with this thing. Some people are adjusting to this current way of living that we're enduring, while others are having a harder time adapting. This ultimately brings us to the importance of being able to adapt to rough circumstances.
Hey, how's it going out there everyone? This is Brad H. back once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This the spot where I give my personal perspective on a topic that I think would be helpful towards helping us stay motivated throughout our journey of life. This is normally the part of the post where I talk about something besides the topic at hand, however, due to the circumstances that we're all having to deal with on a global scale, this week's soapbox is going to blend into the topic at hand for this week. For the past two topics that I've covered on here, I've talked about the talk of the world in the soapbox section. That would be the Coronavirus of course, but instead of talking about the importance of being safe and doing the things to prevent from potentially getting the virus as I did in the previous topics, I want to talk about the importance adapting to what's happening. Now I'm far from an expert or anything when it comes to this pandemic, but it is increasingly start to feel like this virus is something that we're going to be dealing with for a lengthy amount of time. We've all heard different estimates as to when it's going to end, and the truth is that no one truly knows when things will get back to normal. While we're stuck in this season of change and unfamiliar territory, why not use this opportunity to talk about the importance of adapting.
Now I started this week's topic out by talking about how we as human-beings are adaptable creatures. Though this holds true and has been proven throughout history, change and adaptability doesn't always come easy for everyone. Because we're all unique individuals with different ways of viewing and processing things, it would be naive to believe that everyone adapts to things in the same time or manner. Now the title of this topic refers to the importance of adapting to rough circumstances, but what exactly is a rough circumstance when it comes to adapting? As with most topics that are viewed as circumstantial, this is totally subjective and depends on what someone defines as being a rough circumstance. However, as I referenced throughout this topic so far, I'm going to use this Coronavirus pandemic that we're currently in as the main example of a rough circumstance. Now I do realize that some of you may not view it in that type of manner, but I also know there are quite a few people that sees this as a full blown crisis that is affecting out everyday way of living. I know this because of how I'm personally seeing people react to this situation. Some of you may have people that you're close with that aren't handling this situation the best. We're not here to judge or shun anyone for this, but I do feel that despite this rough time that there is an opportunity to take some positive away from it.
Now of course I'm not going to speak for anyone else or their viewpoint on the effects that the Coronavirus is having on our planet, but just speaking from my own perspective, not everyone is handling the effects on this situation in necessarily the best manner. Again, this isn't meant to judge anyone, but this is something that I feel the need to point out in order to get the main point of this week's topic across. Now what do I mean by saying this, some of you may wonder? A lot of us right now are falling apart because of how our lives have been upended by this crisis. For example, being forced to stay in the house to maintain social distancing is taking its toll on people that are used to being out and about on the daily. For others, being in a situation where you can't go out and eat at your favorite restaurant is making people sad and depressed. These are just a couple of examples, but we can all come up with ways that this pandemic is causing us to step away from the things we enjoy. All of this is understandable due to the fact that we've been accustomed to our normal way of living life. However, from my perspective, now is not the time for us to be falling apart because of what is going on. Now is the time for us to put those skills of adaptation into action.
So what does it mean to adapt to situations and circumstances that would be deemed as being rough? Well from my own perspective, I believe that adapting to a situation is when a person can accept what's happening, but also find the mental fortitude to be able to use that situation to better equip themselves to handle it. So for example; when it comes to the global pandemic that we're in now and how it has halted much of our normal routines, now is the time to develop new habits. This is the time where you have to look towards something in your life that you feel may be lacking, and then use that extra time to do things that will help you rise above the situation at hand. We can't do this if we're sitting around wallowing because our lives have changed drastically because of what's going on. Now is the time to adapt and build ourselves up to battle this situation in a manner in which we can benefit from it. From my perspective, this is why I feel it is of importance for us to be able to adapt to the rough circumstances in our lives. Before I close out this topic, I want to say that this doesn't only apply to the Coronavirus. It can be any aspect of our lives that present obstacles that we have to overcome. So with all that being said, lets use that innate ability to adapt that exists within us all.
That's all that I got for this week's topic on the importance of adapting to rough circumstances. I hope that I was able to present this in a manner that you all could relate to. It's time for me to sign off, but I thank you all for stopping by once again for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! If any of you have any feedback to contribute, please feel free to do so in the comment section. If you're on Twitter and would like to connect with me on there, hit me up at the handle @BradrickH. Well I hope you all have a great week ahead. I know that we're in some pretty uncharted territory in our history, but we must pull together to get through this. Stay strong everyone, and I'll see you all on the next topic. Peace out!

The Importance Of Not Allowing Slow Changes To Discourage You.
Throughout this journey of life that we're all currently partaking in, the aspect of changes taking place in our lives and life in general is something that's unavoidable. Whether it be the kind of changes that we choose to welcome or not is pretty much irrelevant since change is something we cannot stop from happening. Change in some ways is like death; pretty much guaranteed to happen. Though change is something that we cannot stop from taking place in all aspects of life, it is something comes with a wide range of variances and definitions. There are going to be some forms of change that are going to be good for our lives, and there of course are going to be forms of change that could be considered bad for us. The good majority of us naturally want to see the good things that come along with change happening. Change that breeds and spreads good things is often a determining factor in whether or not many of us continue to pursue the things in life that we desire. Though this type of change is the one that we welcome the most, on the flip side of the coin, some forms of change, though they may be good, can be a long and slow process. Just like with pretty much anything else in this life, perspective plays a big factor in how we view change happening. This is one of the reasons why I feel it is of importance for us to not allow slow changes to discourage us.
Hey, what's going on people? This is Brad H. reporting once again, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I'm going to get straight into what I want to say this week on my soapbox. Boy does a lot happen in a couple of weeks, doesn't it? So the novel Coronavirus that seems to be spreading like crazy has really hit close to home here in America. Last time I had written on here, I believe that were only a few confirmed cases here in the states. It has rapidly exploded, and has pretty much brought life to a standstill for many of us. On March 11th, which happened to be my birthday, the NBA postponed their season for the foreseeable future. In the following days there would be other sports leagues to follow in the NBA's decision. I just want to say for everyone out there to please stay safe. I'm not a doctor, but I encourage all of you to keep your immune system as strong as you can. Exercise daily, drink green drinks, eat fresh greens and fruits. Take some vitamin C pills and multivitamins. Try and keep your stress and worry levels low as these things have been shown to weaken our immune systems. I know that people are buying up all the supplies and hand sanitizing products, but we have to make sure that our bodies are able to fight off this virus if we happen to contract it. This is truly one of the most unprecedented times in our county's history. Again, stay safe everyone, and watch out for the elderly that are at the risk most. That's all I want to say about the Coronavirus for now, so lets talk more about the importance of not allowing slow changes to discourage us.
I feel that one of the key components of potential slow happening change that influences us most is the lack of patience that many of us have. This is something that I've brought up many times on this platform, but we cannot talk about change without addressing patience. For all the reasons that I won't get into because we're already aware of the majority of them; when it comes to the act of being patient, it is just something that so many people in our society struggle with maintaining. Fast and quick is the way that the society we live in has conditioned us to be. Now I'll admit that we all have moments where we experience impatience, and I think that is okay to be impatient when it comes to certain things in life. If you have a major health emergency that suddenly happens for example, you're not going to want to have patience when it comes to dealing with that type of situation. So there are definitely certain occasions where we don't have to have patience, but having patience when it comes to various aspects of change that deal with your life is very important. Furthermore, having patience will help you not be discouraged so quick when things don't happen right away, and that is what I'm going to get into next.
Now what exactly does it mean to be or become discouraged? The word "discourage" has several ways of being interpreted, but there is one definition in particular that I want to focus on in regards to this topic. As a verb, discourage means to "cause (someone) to lose confidence or enthusiasm." The act of being discouraged is fairly normal, and it's something that we all experience throughout our lives. If you are an athlete and you lose in a championship game, you're probably going to find that you'll be discouraged from the loss you suffered. If you're a guy that's interested in a certain woman and she happens to rejects you, you may feel discouraged from approaching women for a bit of time. These are just a couple of examples of how typical it is when it comes to being discouraged. Now while the idea of being discouraged from time to time is just a normal part of life, it behooves us to try and avoid staying this way for an extended period of time. I believe that this especially applies when it comes to slow change happening in our lives, which of course is what the theme of this topic is.
So why is it of importance to not allow slow happening changes in our lives to discourage us? The simple reason is that while good forms of change in our lives may be slowing moving, slow change is still change. If you look at a person that goes on a diet to lose weight, how often do you see them lose a massive amount of weight very quickly? You often don't, right? In the event that you do happen to see this going on, the weight that they're losing most likely isn't healthy weight. I used the example of dieting, but this can be applied to any type of positive change that a person is aiming to make in their life. The path towards becoming a better individual by implementing positive changes in our lives isn't one that everyone will be able to do. There are going to be many people that fall off after not seeing the changes happening fast enough. These are the people that have probably gotten discouraged along the way and decided that it wasn't worth it anymore. From my own personal perspective, it is always worth it if you're trying to improve yourself and your life. The goal of this week's topic is to inspire anyone that is seeing slow change to stay the course. Treat your journey as if it is a marathon. It will be a long tedious process, but keep your mind on the person you want to be at the end of the journey.
That pretty much sums up what I got for you all this week. Thank you once again to everyone that came by for another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! I hope that this topic was able to serve as some motivation for some of you. If you have any comments to add, please feel free to do so in the comment section. You can also follow me on Twitter @BradrickH if you'd like to connect on there. I know that things seems bleak right now with this virus spreading around the world so quickly, but this will pass everyone. I believe the goal now is to try and get this thing under control, and get our lives back to some normalcy. Hopefully that will happen soon enough, so stay positive and keep praying for positive change. I'll see you all on the next topic. Stay safe everyone. Peace!

The Importance Of Being The Point Guard Of Your Life.
Anyone that frequently reads any of the topics that I cover on here are probably aware that I am a huge sports fan. Though I rarely talk directly about sports on here, unless I do it when I'm on my soapbox, sports have always been something that I'm extremely passionate about. One of my favorite sports that I not only play occasionally, but also follow is basketball; more specifically the NBA. I don't have anything against college basketball, I just don't find it all that appealing until March Madness begins. Now for those of you that follow or have any general knowledge of basketball know that there are five positions that players can play while they're on the court. You have a center, which is typically a team's largest player. You have a power forward and a small forward, which are also considered members of the a team's front line. Finally, you have a shooting guard and a point guard to round out the five players on the court. The shooting guard position is typically what it sounds like; a player that is generally considered a great shooter. Then we get to the point, which is probably the most important position that a team has. Most point guards are the smallest players on the court, but they often have the most responsibility. The reason for this is due to the fact that the point guard typically has to be an extension of a team's head coach. If you watch basketball, you will typically see the point guard receiving coaching instructions from the coach on what plays to run. If you really think about it, a team's successes and failures will typically depend on what kind of point guard the team has. Being that I see sports as a catalyst for life, the same could be said about our own lives in respect to the importance of a point guard.
Yo, yo, yo! What's going on folks? This is Brad H. back once again for another topic, and I'd like to welcome you all to another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective'! This is a blog where I give my opinion on a topic that I think would be beneficial to those of us that are seeking added inspiration in our lives. Thank you to long time readers, and welcome to anyone that may be reading for the first time. So for my soapbox this week, I want to bring up something that I'm sure everyone has seen in the news. As you all may know, the "Coronavirus" is spreading throughout the world at a pretty fast pace. I saw on the news earlier today where the first death in the United States due to the virus happened today. I know this virus has created quite a stir, and understandably so. However, I just want to encourage everyone to try and not panic first of all. Always be alert, but never quick to panic. Secondly, do whatever you can to keep your immune system up. I personally take multivitamins, and I drink a lot of orange juice. Finally, please wash your hands as much as you can. It amazes me how people still think that the weather is the reason why so many people get the flu and colds. The weather contributes, but most of the sicknesses that exist are the result of bacteria. I'm not a doctor or anything, but the things I stated have worked pretty well for me when it comes to avoiding sickness. I just wanted to bring that up because I know that we haven't seen a virus that has caused such a ruckus since the "Swine Flu" back in 2009. Now that I've gotten on my soapbox, lets go ahead and talk about the importance of being the point guard of your life.
Now when it comes to the idea of being the point guard within our own lives, of course I'm not talking about a point guard in terms of basketball in a literal sense. We're not talking about great point guards such as John Stockton, Chris Paul, or Isaiah Thomas just to name a few. What I'm going to be focusing more on in this topic are the attributes and skills that make a great point guard on the basketball court. I'm aware that all of you likely know that already, but I just wanted to be make sure I stated that before I get into what we're bringing up in this topic. Now when we think of what skills that are required for a point guard to be an effect floor general, there are typically three things that I instantly think of. The three attributes I think of are awareness, control, and trust. There are even more attributes that make for a great point guard, and I could probably write a novel on all of those. I'm going to roll with the three that I thought of first, and I believe that these three attributes will be the most effective at helping me get across the idea that I'm seeking to convey. I'm going to start out first with the attribute of control. For a point guard to be effective on the court, he or she has to exhibit a great amount of control. For example, when the other team that he is squaring off against goes on a run, the point guard cannot allow himself to panic. If the point guard panics while on the court, then the rest of the team will likely do so as well.
Secondly, we have the attribute of awareness. A point guard has to be aware of what's going on at all times on the court. He or she has to know when certain teammates are open, as well as when to get the ball to them. They have to be able to be aware of the clock and various other scenarios that come along with being a floor general. Finally, we have the attribute of trust. A good point guard has to be able to rely on their teammates. This means that they have to be selfless and willing to put their trust in their teammates for the betterment of the team to be successful. Now when it comes to the awareness, control and trust qualities that are required for a point guard to be great, these are attributes that are not only important when it comes to sports, but also when it comes to navigating through the game of life. I've spoken this on here before in the past, but in terms of living life and being able to maintain while living it, many aspects of life in and of itself is similar to sports. We all deal with competition on on various levels, and we all have an ultimate goal to succeed in life. Basically, life is a game, and if you're going to find a way to conquer and win, you're going to need the aforementioned traits.
So this ultimately brings us to the importance of being the point guard of your life. From my own perspective, everything that I've pretty much stated so far within this topic sums up the importance of being the point guard of your life. However, the three attributes that I mentioned when it comes to be a great point are the catalysts as to why I believe it is important. First off, you have to be able to be in control of your life like a point guard has control over how he deals with his team. Too many of us lose control when things get rough in our lives. It may be difficult at times, but always try to be in control of yourself and the things you do. Secondly, be aware of any and everything that you allow into your life. Many of the problems we face stem from a lack of self-awareness. Finally, have people in your life that you can trust. Like I mentioned earlier, a point guard has to be able to trust his teammates. Think of the people in your life as if they are teammates of yours, and gauge your trust levels properly. If there are people that you can't trust that are a part of your life, it may be time for a substitution. Before I end this topic and let you all go; when it comes to trust, always trust yourself first and foremost. A good point guard has great instincts, and I believe that comes from self belief. We should apply the same logic to ourselves in order to put ourselves in a better position to win.
Well that is all that I have for you all on the importance of being the point guard of your life. I hope that I was able to put this topic into words that have been understandable for you all. This has been another installment of 'Brad H.'s Perspective' brought to you by Brad H. Thank you once again to those of you that came through. If you have any comments or feedback that you'd like to leave, please feel free to do so in the comment box. You can also connect with me on Twitter @BradrickH if your heart so desires.
